Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

Have you done CL at Universal hotels? I honestly do not care for it. We are never doing it at HRH again. It’s the best resort at Universal by far, and where I stay if at all possible but their CL is a joke. We are trying Portofino this week because it was available and pretty cheap with AP discount and the room is bigger since we have a 3rd with us this trip. I’ll see how it compares. Reviews I’ve seen are very spotty. I just don’t think Lowes does CL well. They are VERY stingy on alcohol for one thing, which annoys me to no end. At thing point I’d never pick Lowes CL over Disney CL at any rate. Portofino will have to really blow me away for that to happen. Possible but not probable

I think you'll like Portofino CL, its a GIANT leap above the others. As far as the pours with the alcohol they are VERY generous. I posted a pic on here a couple of months back and they are a good 8-12oz! However, if by stingy you mean they only have it out for 3 hours each day, then yes, they're stingy, lol. Make sure to ask for a room near the lounge when you check in, there's not dedicated CL rooms there so you could be anywhere in the resort.

How does Disney address Gluten Allergies at Club Level? We will be staying at the Poly Club Level in late July/early Aug and was not sure how they address food allergies in the lounge (in my wife’s case gluten).

At Universal you can call the club level in advance and let them know you have dietary restrictions and they know ahead of time to accommodate for you.

Appreciate the help!
You can do the same with Disney. Just email or call Signature Services and have them note your dietary restrictions. Also, mention it again to a CM when arriving in the lounge.
SS Contact Info: (407) 939-7777 - email disney.signature.services@disneyworld.com. Enjoy it!

Who do you call to make a room request for YC CL? The main hotel reservation number or is there another number to call? TIA!

Yes, it’s the 3 hours part. Can’t get it at lunch and I’m reading they’ve been known to pull it before end of service too. I don’t want to slam large pours in 3 hours. I want a mimosa at breakfast and beer with lunch. Lol

Anyway, I’m mainly looking for a huge jump up from donuts and boiled eggs with a little old cut fruit we always got at HR during breakfast. Or thawed and reheated chicken nuggets or meatballs in sauce at dinner

Alcohol is mainly an annoyance

The food we had at portofino cl was good. They had potatoes every morning and hot egg breakfast wraps daily. They did also have delicious looking donuts too 😆

Oh and the night we did make evening apps. It was fresh and tasty.

I agree with @Mrs.AMC. if you aren't doing CL at Portofino then don't mess with CL at UO. RPR has a nice grab and go in the lobby if you want a quick breakfast. The line always seems long but moves very fast. Or better yet, since you have an HP lover, I highly recommend breakfast at the Leaky Cauldron in diagon alley!! The egg pasty is really good and my kids love the pancakes.
I can't even do non CL for my dates at UO. There is not one room available that one night at RPR. It's the most ridiculous thing lol. I'm still holding out hope. I'm hoping 30 days before something opens up. CR and WL opened up today but my husband and kids are stuck on epcot area🤷‍♀️. Meanwhile we have 2 late nights at MK. Silly family.

We’ve had a great fireworks view from WL. But it was a room about as far from the lounge as you can be. They’ve since made it a bookable category at WL vs by chance. Not sure on CL. But for sure for other rooms
Same, but not bookable as a CL category:). Thank you!!

Thank you all!!

I attended a wedding years ago, and the couple stayed in one of those rooms. Those balconies are pretty small!

CL is much more extensive, and EXPENSIVE, at Disney. For the difference in price between Disney CL and Universal CL you could buy a couple of bottles of wine, to be accurate probably a case or more.

I posted this for the benefit of others reading this thread. You already know the diferences. You have to book the accomodations which best offers the experience you are looking for. My 2 cents, I'd rather "settle" for accommodations at Universal if that's where I'll be spending time. I wouldn't stay at POLY CL, drive to HHN then drive back to POLY CL.

We were at BWI, but I don’t think they really do much to accommodate. As it’s not necessarily intended to be meals, it seems like the offerings are out and you can take/skip things that do/don’t work for you (taste or allergy).

We did see them come out and give a bunch of pre packaged snacks to someone once, for what I assume was a gluten issue. It was breakfast, but they handed them a bunch of little snack bags of muffins and chips and cookies. I’m sure they had more for them if needed, but the variety and quantity of bags suggested that those were what was offered for their replacement and they were otherwise free to see if there was something out that they could enjoy.

I am a vegetarian, and while it is always noted in our reservation and again when I talk to the Innkeepers, there is nothing done to accommodate me (which is fine, I don’t expect anything and can make it work!!) But for example, at the evening snacks, if they are making small plates of of pasta with chicken, I will ask the chef for some of the pasta before they add the chicken. They are kind enough to do it, but nobody would have made a special dish in advance or anything. Nor do they take it into account for the nightly meal planning - like when it’s a night with short ribs and fish. But that’s fine - there are plenty of other things for me to enjoy.

How long ago? I see them bring out special plates to guests every single day. Wrapped and marked with allergies noted by stickers. Not just prepackaged snacks. But plates with eggs, waffles, cooked stuff brought up from the kitchen. Saw it this morning. See it every day actually. But maybe it depends on the allergy/request?

I’m glad to hear that they are able to do more! This was in late March/Early April. It was one member of a family of 4 that they gave the prepackaged items to. The family seemed very happy and grateful. Maybe if it’s a more severe allergy where cross contamination is a concern they handle differently? In this case, the person that received the snacks was also able to enjoy the offerings that were out.

I see, yes, UO seems to change rapidly, even within a week I've found several things open up. Keep holding onto hope

We stayed WL CL in May 2017, so this may be outdated info. But for the person asking above, this was the view from my room. We requested a room facing MK. Our view was pretty unobstructed as you can see. I haven’t looked at booking categories lately, but it’s definitely possible to get a good fireworks view. I don’t know the exact room number, but it was about halfway down the hall.

The only thing I question about NYE fireworks are how well you’ll see those to the left of the castle from that photo. The one shot off from the lagoon area. I just can’t remember the spacing and positioning of everything well. It may be clear view of it all.

I used to have a photo of a castle shot in the comments of a room review at touring plans. No clue if I can find it now but I’ll check. It’s daytime shot so maybe it will be clearer as to how much of the lake you can see

So I did a thing this morning. I changed to CL at BWI for my first 5 nights (said last night not available). Then I booked portofino cl at Universal for my original stay dates and that extra night I couldn't get BWI. I still have my original at RPR too there. Then for fun I checked that last night for BWI and I was able to book same room category for CL with the discount. So now I have to decide do I leave disney Thursday night and head to portofino. Or call and see if reservations can be combined at BWI and head to RPR the next morning. If they can't combine reservations and there's a chance I have to move rooms I will definitely go that night. I'm not moving twice. So happy my ridiculous amount of checking paid off. Will keep checking for YC CL with a discount. People rave about BWI but I'm torn.

I looked at both the Disney+ & Disney Visa discounts for Labor Day week as soon as they came out. No YC CL has shown up for either promo. I booked a garden cottage at BWI with the Disney+ discount right after it came out. I think there was a standard view CL then too. But for several weeks the garden cottage is the only CL for my dates. I occasionally check the last week of august, but YC CL still not discounted. BC CL has had all room types available for my week. Not a great discount, but it’s better than rack rate. Have you checked that for your dates? I really prefer YC, but I did book BC to try it out this time.

Where do you look for Disney Visa discounts?
