Had a decent recent Poly CL stay. Not my first time at Poly since the hotel-side reopened summer 2021 but it was my first time back at Poly CL since it reopened.

Those that have been around awhile know Poly CL has sort of always been my home base - it was out first CL and just a place I really enjoy when it comes to the resort (amenities, views, rooms, location) and CL. As our kids have gotten older and our WDW styles/tastes change I do think I/we may be outgrowing Poly CL a bit... but we still enjoyed ourselves. I don't know - sometimes you have a WDW trip that was fine in all respects but just didn't all click for some reason - more vibe/mood than anything. Sort of felt like that about Poly this trip, but it happens.

Welcome letter with basic details and service hours. No phone number or texting service offered here.

The new lounge really is lovely - they did an excellent job. The hard surface flooring vs carpet definitely makes the room louder/noisier, but most aren't going to notice that. Lounge crowding was pretty stout at times. That's nothing new here, just often felt like a lot of people around.
IMG_6040.jpeg

I think I have a love/hate thing with the couches and cushy chairs. They are great for lounging/chilling, not so great for eating as you have to sort of hunch over to eat. Can't see it well but just to the bottom is an 8-top high top where the kids table/TV used to be.
IMG_5751.jpeg

The kids area is now on the third floor. More cushy seating. Space is not really used all that often, despite the crowding below. It's also not as frequently cleared of items during services.
IMG_6039.jpeg

That's a restroom there on the left.
IMG_5752.jpeg

I like that you can see the Lava Pool from those glass windows there on this floor and below - good for seeing if the pool has reopened yet after storms.
IMG_6044.jpeg

The service area is incredibly improved compared to before. The island is massive and really works well.
IMG_5668.jpeg

Lots of drawers for mugs, plates, cups, etc. To-go coffee cups always on hand.
IMG_5657.jpeg

IMG_5659.jpeg

So much nicer having a Natura water machine vs the old method. Plastic cups were always available. Lots of guests filling their own bottles frequently.
IMG_5778.jpeg

A different view.
IMG_5662.jpeg

Pretty nice toaster. Fridge stocked with Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite. Beer is stocked from evening apps through desserts. Uncrustables are stocked for mid-day snacks.
IMG_5661.jpeg

Unsweet tea, POG juice, and Lemonade pretty much out at all times.
IMG_5663.jpeg

Seemed like the menu was on a three day rotation.

Oatmeal, strawberries, little yogurt cups, cereal, and hard-boiled eggs out daily. This morning's featured items were an egg/cheese omelette, spam, and french toast. Love the packets of hot sauce - a nice touch and something I don't recall from before.
IMG_5804.jpeg

This was another morning. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, and ham were the featured items. Also seen is oatmeal (out daily). Sort of kidding, sort of not.... here we are in WDW... a land featuring an embarrassment of riches in the waffle and pancake department... and they serve the pre-made/frozen/heated up kind. Evidently my kids have developed refined culinary palates and subsequently declared they wouldn't eat these, despite some initial enthusiasm. :-)
IMG_5908.jpeg

Another morning the featured items were a quiche (it was either just vegetable or vegetable and ham, I can't quite remember), sausage, and breakfast potatoes. My son appears to be eating Fruit Loops and four sausage links. Breakfast of champions.
IMG_5943.jpeg

Pretty standard each morning - yogurt container (only one flavor), meat/cheese, and hard-boiled egg. I do appreciate that they attempt to keep the eggs chilled with that service platter - wish some other CLs would do similar. Somewhat disappointed they didn't have a plain yogurt option other than their sugary in-house brand, or whatever it is. Sometimes I wish Disney would just put a fridge full of two Oikos flavors or something similar and call it a day... I don't need the fancily-presented little "small cups" of yogurt like the below, IMHO.
IMG_5907.jpeg

Not pictured is the basic assortment of pastries, breads - pretty typical CL stuff. Also perhaps oddly, the only fruit was strawberries, apples and bananas.

Afternoon snacks followed the same Disney CL pattern we've seen across the board since reopening. I personally don't mind this all that much but for those that recall the lettuce wrap times pre-COVID, this is a major downgrade here at Poly. I also miss the wonton chips that were a common offering pre-COVID.

Uncrustables in the fridge.
IMG_5660.jpeg

Decent chip selection - Cheetos, BBQ Lays, Plain Lays, Pretzels, Cheez-Its, and yogurt pretzels. Can't see it but on the opposite side of the island are some cookies... rose gold sprinkle sugar cookies, chocolate chip, and oatmeal.
IMG_5820.jpeg

Oranges, apples, M&Ms (plain and peanut), Skittles, and Snickers minis. Separately, love the new storage shelves on the wall. This table is where wine goes in the evenings, and having glasses/plastic cups all right there when asking for beverages during the day or making your own at night is just so darn handy compared to before.
IMG_5822.jpeg

Evening app service was pretty similar in terms of style/setup to pre-COVID in many ways. The menu consists of four feature items and a 'kids' item that rotate nightly. The feature items are individually plated by a chef CM who is behind the counter pretty much the whole service.

On this evening, Fried Duck Leg and Chicken Wellington were two of the feature items.
IMG_5713.jpeg

The two other feature items on this night were Pepper Horn (pretty sure that's what the sign says) and Tuna. The crudite there on the left was pretty standard nightly.
IMG_5720.jpeg

The 'kids' item was Mini Cheeseburgers with frankly a nice selection of toppings - tomato, lettuce, ketchup, mayo, mustard.
IMG_5714.jpeg

A better look at three of the feature items. Love they have that Longboard Pineapple IPA. They've had that at times in the past but not always, so I appreciated it being there!
IMG_5723.jpeg

Wine selection. Sorry I didn't get pics of individual labels - getting pics here is hard with so many people always around and I don't like to be in the way. Also they are still serving that alcoholic punch there to the left just off camera.
IMG_5718.jpeg

I think I posted this a few days ago, but the nightly beer offerings.
IMG_5754.jpeg

Evening service meats, cheeses, and breads. My family really took a liking to the honeycomb there on the right.
IMG_5853.jpeg

Here were evening apps on another night.

Fruit Caviar with Burrata and Shrimp & Noodles.
IMG_5854.jpeg

And the other two feature items were Sweet & Sour Chicken and BBQ Lamb Loin.
IMG_5857.jpeg

And everyone's favorite... chicken nuggets. :-) Nice bready ones too.
IMG_5856.jpeg

The last of the three night rotation featured a piece of steak on fried rice (top), Impossible meatball (middle left), three varieties of beets (middle right) and a crab wonton thing. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the actual names here. Not my favorite night of the three.

IMG_5927.jpeg

And the 'kids' offering this evening was mac n' cheese.
IMG_5925.jpeg

Lastly, dessert service. The below were from various nights.

Basic cookie assortment (same as afternoon snacks).
IMG_5758.jpeg

Cake Pop and Chocolate Strawberry Tart.
IMG_5774.jpeg

Macaroons and some sort of pineapple cupcake (I think).
IMG_5775.jpeg

Cordials.
IMG_5777.jpeg

The ones with the gummy fish are kinda cute.
IMG_6042.jpeg

This was a big hit for my kids...self-serve ice cream with all sorts of toppings. I had not seen this in our Poly CL pre-COVID travels so this was a nice addition. Seemed popular.

We’re going to be staying club level at beach club June 9-12, we‘ve done CL twice, both as surprise upgrades. its probably been 10years since we stayed club level at beach club, I’m so excited to be going back!

one question I have, I know they have soda and water in the club lounge, do they have sparkling water or club soda? Just wondering if I need to pack some

I just got back from YC, and the lounge had a water dispenser with still and sparkling taps, and I’m pretty sure there were cans of club soda in a mini fridge. I’m assuming BC will have a similar setup, YC and BC usually match offerings fairly closely.

CR had the same water dispenser, and I’ve also seen it in the pics of a few other lounges recently, so they may have installed those everywhere.

So glad the punch is back!

My tower cl room was the 4912. Since you posted pix of 4911, and another did the 12 recently I didn’t take pix.

Here’s the thing however…. Why is there only 1 chair? I asked for another chair and did get one .

I just checked into a Marriott Courtyard for a fraction of the price of the CR room. I have actual glassware and coffee mugs and not paper/plastic. Why is Disney still being cheap on that?

The decor of the king room was so boring IMO. No dresser, plain boring table, ugly grey carpet and Edna on the walls, who thought that was a good thing? The non tower rooms look so nice and bright ! I really enjoy the orange sofa for the pop of color.

Another odd thing was the shower didn’t have anywhere to put your things, you had to put your razor etc on the ground. Again? Huh?

So even though I didn’t love the room, we loved the openness of the balcony! The lounge was super quiet and relaxing!

Funny, we said the opposite. Probably one of the best trips we have had in ages. We kept winging it and changing things and rode rides, had time to relax and caught some last minute dining. Genie and ILL really helped us. We used it all day and hopped often. Snagging many GOTG also made for a fun trip!

I am somewhat rambling lol. I am TIRED! Thx for all the pix and info! Poly is my next up !

Sounds like a great trip. Thanks for the review of room & lounge.
May I ask how the GoftheG ride was for those prone to motion sickness. I’m a little concerned for myself after some early reports I’ve seen.

I stopped riding teacups ages ago. However I ride everything with minor inconveniences. The only ride that bothers me yet I still ride often is Harry Potter Forbidden Journey. I had zero issues with this ride. It was so smooth compared to SM, RR and EE. It glides when you slightly spin. Also it’s not a quick 360 spin it’s gliding sideways for a while then gliding back or forwards at spots. Dd27 said she did have slight issues with queasiness the 1 st time but said compared to other rides , less.

I'm prone in some cases but inconsistent. For context I'm fine with Space Mountain, FoP (I know when to look away in a couple of spots just to get my bearings), Slinky, etc. I'll go on EE but it sometimes makes me feel a little off afterwards. Oddly, Remy makes me feel a little green - something about the screens and simulation of movement. I usually pass on RnR and ToT. Things like Star Tours and MFSR are a no for me. Tea Cups don't bother me at all!

While I would like to try it again, GotG was one and done for me this trip. We rode in the AM I was pretty much out/off/:sick: the rest of the day. Like go right back to the room off - I just wanted to lie down in some A/C for awhile. I heard they were giving out sick bags later in the day - I never did need it but was this close.

I would like to try again with a different strategy - maybe focus on other things (to the extent possible, it's sort of hard), maybe take some medicine/ginger/etc (have never used any before, somewhat reluctant to try). I had only had coffee and two hard-boiled eggs for breakfast - I could be wrong with this but I sort of felt that if I had had more in my stomach it would have been better. Maybe even just keep my eyes shut in parts.

But that's just me - the other 3 in my party rode multiple times over our trip and all loved it - no issues at all.

Thank you allfor the reviews. I didn’t realize that it didn’t spin a quick 360. I envisioned spinning. I don’t love teacups, but the ride that always gets me is star tours?!? Maybe I’ll try for vq for GoftheG, but won’t be too disappointed if I don’t get it. 😉

Oh no. Sorry that happened to you. I’m quite worried about being out of commission for the rest of the day. I don’t know if it is worth the risk. Like you I have inconsistent experiences as to exactly what makes me sick. I can feel a little unsettled after spinning rides and need to sit down for a minute and have a soda, but screen-based ones with 3D a la star tours are what really can do me in. I’ve employed the eyes closed strategy a lot.

I recommend children's Dramamine. It's a chewable (so fast acting) lower dose. My wife sometimes gets a little nausea from certain rides and will chew one if she starts feeling it. When we rode GOTG two weeks ago she took one afterwards and we went on to ride Remy, which bothers her much more. I normally do ok on most rides, but GOTG did affect me a bit - more of a dizziness than a stomach thing (reminded me of the spins from drinking too much back in the day).
