GotG Cosmic Rewind AP previews

Interesting. No one scanned me past the initial check to get into the area. I could have done a re-ride easily, but don’t think my heart can take it!

(Had the 10am preview today, May 15.)
I got scanned twice today. The first CM at the entrance to the event check in was just making sure everyone had a reservation. Then about 20 yards down was the first scan. Then another scan at the entrance to the ride.

We did rider swap. Waited near the exit to the ride while my husband went first. I should have sat out… I got SO sick. If you’re prone to motion sickness from spinning or roller coasters, definitely skip this. The combo made me almost throw up on the ride.

Oh man.......all of these reports of motion sickness is really concerning me!! My dh has the worst motion sickness of anyone I know, but he wants to ride it just once.... He's planning to take OTC medicine, and thinks the best time to do it is during AP previews, so he doesn't have to wait so long. I just don't want the rest of his day to be ruined. Mission: Space messed him up so badly, that he felt 'off' for several days. :(

Advice to anyone who's prone to motion sickness:

Completely ignore the video screens. Take note that they're there, but don't focus your eyes on the imagery to watch them - just pretend they're scenery and background noise. Keep your eyes on the track and the vehicle.

I was fine until I started trying to watch the videos - fortunately, it was towards the end, so it didn't ruin me. But I felt it coming on.

While the screens have the story - it's a totally fun ride without it.

The rider swap area is unfortunately outside. We were told we could wait at Connections Cafe and just tell the CM when it was time to re-enter for the second parent. Didn’t want to do it so just stayed around the Lightning Lane entrance. Not a lot of shade so be prepared. Enjoy the ride :) it is intense!
I guess we’ll decide when we get there what we want to do. It’s gonna be pretty hot. Did they have both of you go in the LL?

Good advice, and might help some, but would not have helped me at all. I did try looking at the track and the vehicle floor, but your ride vehicle is often turned in another direction compared to ‘forward’ on the track. And looking at the track, I could see how steeply banked it was (and how sharp the turn coming up was).

Was your child under the height requirement?
Kids who are too short to ride are not let into the building for height restricted attractions. My family waited inside near the unload area with other guests doing Rider Switch when did we did it with a disabled child who was tall enough to ride

No, she was way over the height requirement. Just doesn’t like roller coasters or anything with a “dash” in it.

Interesting. Maybe they changed something or had too many already waiting - it’s not a very big space

DH and I did Guardians a few days ago. If you put a suitcase of cash in front of us we would not ride it again! We took Bonine the day before and the day of the ride, chewed ginger gum in line. DH got motion sickness and had to lie down in the hotel for about 3 hrs. I was terrified! It was way too intense for me. being flung around in the dark at 50 mph. i hope others enjoy themselves but please take the warnings of motion sickness and intensity seriously!

I couldn’t even try to focus on anything, the motion hit my head SO fast I just squeezed my eyes shut and prayed for it to be over. I’m sad because from all accounts it’s a great ride. Just definitely not for me.

I was good for about the first 30 seconds, then really intense nausea. I tried closing my eyes and focusing on something that was still. Nothing helped.
I don’t normally like roller coasters that much, but don’t get sick. I had read this one might be intense, so I had taken a dose of anti-nausea medication ahead of time, but still was trying to keep from getting sick.
not a ride for me.

Is it just the speed/motion that’s intense, or are there also drops?
No drops. I never really felt like I was going fast except for the launch. It was the specific combo of the car moving back and forth constantly, along with the banking curves that create g-forces. One of those at a time would make me queasy, but this made my brain go ABORT ABORT ABORT

All this talk of motion sickness is starting to concern me. Coasters and drops don't bother me, its the things like tea cups, carousel, Mission Space Orange, or mouse trap rides that cause me problems. I know this ride moves around a lot but doesn't seem like it spins much so I might be okay but I have to pick up family at the airport after the preview so definitely don't want to be down for the count.
