March Break Trip???

We fly March 12 to Disney so our 10 day window to fly after being positive was yesterday. Trying to stay very cautious for the next 9 days. What a way to have to travel! We won't know until next Friday if we can leave the next day for Florida. But it's been two years and we are ready to go. Very nervous and cautious still. Have back up plans, test kits, test appts. Just need to stay negative. Good luck to everyone else who may be stressing like us.

Does anyone have plans for where they will isolate if they test positive in Orlando before returning home? Have you made any bookings? Trying to plan for what to do if this happens...

We have booked some DVC rooms and after that, it's the Swan/Dolphin/Reserve. Very difficult to find info that forces you to isolate in any specific area and for any specific time. We are going to test 3 days before our flight home. Gives us a little more of a "head start".

Oh really good idea. Thanks for sharing!

I had booked at a residence inn for a room that had 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. We were able to cancel up to 2 days before. But that was when you had to test 72 hours.

It is still acceptable to test 72 hours before. Just not necessary. Gives you a little quicker piece of mind, or more time to plan.

You can only test 72 hours before with a molecular test, not with a RAT, just to clarify.

If you want to use an antigen test it must be day before (or 24 hours, not sure on specifics). The 72 hour is only for moleculer test (like PCR etc).

Thanks. We are taking the Switch Health Lamp tests with us. Good for 72 hours before scheduled departure.

We are the lucky ones?? who got covid in February, so we have a doctors note and positve PCR test. The people going with us are using Switch and booked DVC.

We've finally decided to go for Ontario March Break. We've had all our bookings done forever but hadn't actually decided.

We just spent $160 on two insurance policies. The first one (annual) will reimburse us if we get covid prior to departure and need to cancel. The second is the Manulife covid package, good for this trip.

I bought upgraded masks for the kids. Also bought the Switch Health rapid tests for the ease and flexibility.

We're staying on points at the Marriott Residence Inn near Universal. We have one night booked at Royal Pacific so we can have express passes for two days.

We plan to buy Premier Annual Passes in the hopes we can go back a few times in the next year. That way we'll always have early entry, free parking and express passes after 4 p.m.

I almost don't dare to get excited because of the chance we test positive next week. But this has been really fun and slightly nervewracking to plan!

Can I ask what annual insurance you purchased that provides insurance for testing positive prior to departure? I’ve bought the manulife Covid plan but I’d like to look into pre-departure coverage as well.

The sale of annual passes is paused right now.

It's trip cancellation coverage from a bigger Zurich travel insurance policy available through our union. "Sickness" is a covered reason with no exclusion for covid.

I am hoping all this testing stops before we leave for Universal in August. I actually have two reservations - one at the beginning of August and the other - the end of August. If testing negative is still required (to return into Canada) we will take the earlier trip.

There is a lot of pressure coming from the travel industry and even some support from the medical side right now. And the Gov't is being suspiciously quiet. I predict we are only weeks away from removing the current testing. Hope so.

Fingers crossed. We have a trip to Lake Placid for Easter and we are headed to Florida at the end of May. I have some Switch Health tests for one of the trips but I’m holding off on buying the others until I’m sure we will still need them in late May.
