I love credit cards so much! v5.0 - 2022 (see first page for add'l details)

Well this isn't comforting news, some DPs of Barclays Biz cards opened in 2022 reporting to personal credit reports:eek:

Until this point Barclay hasn't reported biz cards, and there are numerous confirmations of people who opened the Wyndham and other Biz cards in 2021 that haven't been reported. There are potentially 2 DPs (or 3, need confirmation it's not a duplicate DP) of cards opened in Jan 2022 that are showing as an account on their CR.

Saw it in r/churning first and DoC has some additional data -

This could be a change or another glitch from their system update months ago. There have been reports of Biz card renewals not being charged the AF that seems to have started after that. I wonder if this might be a temporary problem related? Doesn't help if you get caught in it but if it's a glitch maybe not everyone will be affected. There is a DP of a card opened last month not reported (at least not yet?)
🤞🤞

I just checked my Credit Karma and it does not show any Barclays Open cards. So, hopefully I am safe!!

Edit: Just read other replies that it could take up to 30 days...Ughh. Will have to keep an eye on it. That will mess up my plans big time. Fingers crossed.

Just applied for the CIU and got the 7-10 message (I am 4/24 as of January 20th). I don't think that's an auto denial, but I can't recall what it means. Would a phone call help or do I just wait it out?

I think that's part of my problem, trying to use all the annual FNC is forcing us to travel when I just need to relax. We have a weekend trip planned for May just to use 2 Hyatt FNCs that expire in June. I would love to use those, but it would be better if I could use them in the fall.
We also have 2 bonvoy FNC that we need to use this year, we did have plans to use them when we visited friends in Seattle but those plans are now changing and I don't know if we'll use them at that point either.

And that fact that SW has awful routes/flight times is making things more difficult. We used to be able to take an evening flight to San Diego on a Friday evening, but that's not an option anymore, the latest departure is 2PM with terrible connections.

Using FN certs without an easy default location would definitely make those a bit more stressful and difficult to use. We use WDW as our default. While I prefer to use them someplace amazing, I know I can always use them at WDW instead of DVC if push comes to shove.

So DPs seem to be that Biz cards are showing on Equifax and Trans Union - so if Chase checks Experian, sounds like i could still be ok?
Thanks for this info - I made a note in my calendar to keep an eye on this as the first statement date approaches.

Chase almost always pulls both Experian and Equifax for me and DH. I think it can vary based on what state you're in. If you've applied for a Chase card before, what did they pull? I use a free Credit Karma account to keep track of Equifax and Transunion.

Fingers crossed for everyone that these DPs are isolated glitches!

It used to mean that denial was more likely, sometimes it was just verification. But I'm not sure if it's a reliable indicator anymore. Which status line did you call?

For those of you that have been Churning for several years, do you go through periods where you slow down?
I feel like I've got too much going on and I need to slow down, cut back on the number of cards we open.

I found this thread in April 2017, almost 5 years, we've opened about 50 cards between the 2 of us.

If the churning slows down the travel will also slow down. We haven't taken a break from traveling, but maybe we should.

I feel weird not having a MSR right now. I guess I'm doing a 1/2 effort attempt at trying to hit the $8k for the Hilton FNC. After that I was thinking of getting the new IHG biz or the Wydham Biz (for Ceasar's Diamond). But that plan might change based on what's below.

I guess I "started" back in 2006 w/ my Starwoods Biz card. Then in 2016 I got the CSR. Once I started dating the ex long distance, I got more cards (AA and Hilton) to offset traveling to see him, LOL. Now I'm all over the place. I don't really use my points like some here for awesome trips. That said, my 16yo is demanding no less than biz class for her trip to Ireland next year, LOL.

I'm one of those people. My Barclay Biz AAviator AF hasn't posted. I planned on closing that card when it did (I already closed the personal one). But it hasn't shown up. I wonder if the switch in websites helped that, LOL. I've been paranoid the AF posted somewhere (like my "employee card" and I don't see it, LOL.

And bummer on the card being reported. I was going to jump on the Wyndham for the Ceasar's match. But now I'll be waiting that out to see. I'm 4/24 and have plans to MDD at some point.

I've thought about just using them for a weekend at Universal, but then we would need to spend $1K on park passes, which then means we'd want to go several times this year but already have too much going on.

I just wish we lived close to an airport HUB, having connecting flights just makes things more challenging.

I totally feel you on the MSR front. In fact, DH was just approved for a CIC last week (which still isn't here even though I asked for it to be expedited).
I think I'm going to take a different approach and just stick with CIC/CIU for the rest of the year. I was trying to keep a point diversity, but I think earning URs then using the CSR to cash them out will help with this feeling of wanting to just quit churning.

How many Chase Business cards could one get in a 12 month period? I'm aiming for 4 each of us.

What I meant is that the Chase Credit Journey only looks at your Experian report. Chase has been known to pull multiple bureaus on borderline applications. When the account appears on your report can vary widely by lender, some report as soon as the account is approved, some after first statement, some the 1st of the month following account opening, some after second statement. I got a PenFed personal loan on NYE that didn't hit my reports until yesterday.

I think what @EACarlson was saying is that the Chase Credit Journey is only showing what is on your Experian report. So not seeing a HP or account there doesn't mean it hasn't happened on one of the other reports. When applying for a Chase card, they can check any of the 3 bureaus and usually use the same one (or ones, as in my case they pull 2 reports, always) so you can see where they pulled before to monitor this.

So far all DPs I've seen had their cards for a month before it reported so you probably need to wait a bit to see what happens.

New CIC with instant approval for DH. Adding to data points - CLs seem to be returning to higher levels ($5K).

On the topic of slowing churning.... I don't really meet the definition of a churner since I don't automatically close cards when I can get a new one SUB on that card. I am more of an earn and hoard/slowly burn! I've been hovering around 1M URs for 2 years. I used lots of points PYB and a few hotels stays recently but built that back up with the Biz cards and CSP 100K SUB. My biggest issue is a lack of expenses! Not a bad problem but makes it harder to hit some of these higher MSRs. No more tuition - both kids are launched and have full time positions. One grandchild so a bit of money goes there. House and cars will be paid off this year so that won't be an option to use Plastiq for MSR. I am out of the MS game with all the changes and I don't know when I'll feel comfortable enough to spend lots of time at WM trying to load several Serve cards.

On traveling, my own PSA is to enjoy what you enjoy. I like hearing about other's trips. But for me, I am happiest traveling domestically and staying at some cheap hotels near the attractions I like! So I need to make sure my travel hacking fits that.

This year, planning
  • a trip to Arizona (Saguaro NP, Organ Pipe NM, Scottsdale/Tucson) where I'll use 4 FNCs with two hotel chains (Marriott and IHG). I'll stay 2 nights at one hotel and 2 nights at another just to make the FNCs work.
  • a trip to Myrtle Beach (Condo). Since this is a mulit-family trip, hotels are not the best choice.
  • a trip to Oregon/CA (Crater Lake, Mt Hood, Redwoods, Columbia River Gorge) where I'll use 5 FNCs.

But looking ahead, in 2023, I am planning
  • New Mexico (Carlsbad, White Sands, Bandelier) which has a lot of good use for FNCs
  • probably Hilton Head and a condo
  • a repeat Glacier NP/Yellowstone NP trip. I'll try very hard to stay in the park as it will increase my enjoyment of the trip. But that means no FNCs. Maybe I'll use PYB to cover (if it is still around) or just cash out URs.
I might at that point drop my Bonvoy Biz card and one of my IHG cards. If it gets too hard to try to use FNCs by the expiration date, I'll drop the card. I don't want this to become too much work to see how I can use or travel to places I don't want to go to just to use something "free". I got into this to save money, not to have only free travel. All the money I've saved just means I could travel more in a year and stretch my travel budget.

I guess I am really saying You do You! Happy travels to everyone out there!

edit - crazy. Not sure it doubled everything

I would say yes. For a flight that long the legroom is worth it.
I would say it depends on how much you value extra legroom. I'm short so I could care less about extra legroom of Comfort+. If I'm paying extra its going to have more overall room like in First. But, if you're tall, I could see where Comfort+ would be worth it.
To me for 6k in miles on that long of a flight it's a no brainer. I end up upgrading to c+ most of the time and I'm short. I like the extra room and being close to the front of the plane. It just feels less crammed. Not as good as 1st but enough for me
For a flight of that length I would have to have C+. But I'm also 6'3" and 220 lbs. You also have a much better chance at overhead bin space near your seat, free drinks and slightly better padding in most of the planes. If none of that matters to you, then it may not be worthwhile.
Thank you all for the input. The tallest in my party is 5'9" and I'm the short one at 5'3" but since it is a pretty long flight, I decided to go with Comfort+. I hope the extra space makes it possible to get up and stretch a bit during the flight. It was really fast and easy to set up a Delta SkyMiles account, transfer the MRs, and get the tickets!

Cash OOP fare would have been $685 for a party of 3. I transferred 50K MRs and paid the $30 excise fee and $16.80 taxes/fees. I figure I got 1.28 cpp on this redemption, which seems decent since I only get 1.1 cpp cashing out with Schwab. And if I need to cancel, I'll get back the miles (with no cancellation fee) which won't expire. Since we usually fly SW because of the CP and our stash of URs, I didn't feel paying cash and reimbursing myself would have made much sense in this scenario since I'm not chasing any elite status on Delta.

I’ve always just waited on Chase business cards if they weren’t an instant approval….but if you need the card ASAP I’d call

Applied for 3 CIC between P1 and P2 in the last 3 months or so and we both always had to call for approval.

Me because I have a fraud alert on my credit reports and Chase has to verify my ID through the fraud department each time. No way around it and it sucks but it is ultimately for my protection.

DH because he had to verify his business address (different from our home address). He got an email requesting the info. He sent in the docs twice but it wasn't until he called (almost 2 weeks later) that someone pulled his file to verify the info manually. It might have taken the full 30 days, if he hadn't called.

The cards were approved all 3 times while we were on the phone.

Good luck.

7-10 sometimes means they need additional verification (that you submitted the application) or of your current information. My P2 recently got 7-10 on her first Chase card and they approved her on the phone after verifying her identify. Other times 7-10 was code for you would eventually be denied and the reason would be given in a letter.

You can try calling for more information or wait for the letter. Don't be freaked out if they send you to the "Fraud" department, that's just ID verification.

Where did you see the 7-10 days?

I prefer to wait and let it make it's way through. But if you're in a hurry to get the card and don't mind talking about your business, you can call.

FYI, the Chase rep did not ask anything about our "business" the 3 times we had to call. It was to verify something on the application - ID and address in our case.

50k for three transcons RT in C+? That is insanely good. I paid 44k for just me in C+ to and from MCO last year, of course cash price for my ticket was $800.

It was a one way fare for three people (3 x 16,500 rounded up to 50K since you can only transfer MR in 1000 increments). It's a multi city trip, with the other two segments covered by SW. SW flies the route but not as a direct nonstop like Delta, and I couldn't deal with the idea of flying BOS-DEN-SEA and adding on all that time landing and taking off. So nonstop BOS-SEA was worth redeeming some MRs. Yours actually sounds like the better redemption!

So can you cancel a cash SW flight and get a refund or only travel funds?
If you buy Business Select or Anytime fares, you can get a refund to your cc at any point you decide to cancel. If you buy WGA fares, you can get a refund to your cc if you cancel within 24 hours of booking. Otherwise you'll be holding travel funds.
