It costs 1 cent per point to transfer Southwest points and there is a minimum. Usually not worth it, unless you have one of the SW business cards that comes with $500 point transfer credit.

Hopefully you can split up into 2 groups and make the numbers work with the existing points you both have. You won't be able to transfer your URs to SW unless you upgrade your CFU to a Sapphire Preferred or Reserve (or apply for one).
There is a fee to transfer his SW points to my SW account? He has I think 24K points left on his account.

Just saw on my SW card it has a 10% offer for SW lol. So I supposed I could use that to buy points, get the 10% back on buying points plus 2x points. Or would that work? I really am trying to use points just becasue we've lost $ a couple times not being able to use the travel funds after a cancelled trip so I don't want to pay cash for a trip if I don't have to.

If you have a SW credit card, check the current benefits. They recently added up to $500 credit for points transfers to many of their cards.

PP question...Does the main pp holder have to be traveling/present to get into a lounge?Just wondering....of course I have to dig up our info, and make DH call the hlepline to locate our membership at all right now....I have NO idea what happened to that card,or the info (thru CSR) and no way to check online.

I believe that the PP holder has to be there, and his account number should be in the travel portal, check the benefits section in the UR portal.

Do you by chance know what they credit score you need for the sapphire preferred?

@*pixie*, Motley Fool is 5400 pts right now. Cost is $79 but might be worth it for quick points toward a CP.

Just went and looked at this, do I have to do anything other than sign up and pay the $79? Right now, I'm at 116,000 points. It looks like I should have around 5,000 points posted on the 28th from my Southwest card. My DD is getting married at Disney's Vero Beach next October. Also thinking about putting more towards that deposit now instead of later to get me enough points before the end of the year.

I forgot about that. Whoops! Would have been helpful this morning! Had to have DH book his flight with his miles (with a top off transfer from Chase), rather than booking all under mine. I could have just transferred a few thousand from him to me.

Yes, it would cost $240 to transfer the 24k points to you.

Buying points would not trigger the 10% SW offer since buying points goes through points.com. There is a 40% off deal for buying points now though (ends 12/21). Minimum is 5000 points for $82.50.

I don't know the credit scored needed for the CSP. I would think since you're able to be approved for a SW card, a CSP would be okay too.

If you get a CSP, you can add your DH as an authorized user and you would be able to transfer your UR to his SW account. It would add to his 5/24 count, which is a Chase rule that they won't approve you for any of their cards if you've had 5 or more new personal cards in the last 24 months (authorized user cards count too). But if he's not applying for Chase cards anyways, you may not care.

If I cancel the biz platinum when the AF comes due at the end of January will the $200.00 airline credit get clawed back? Ditto for the Dell credit? I don't think that I can justify keeping this card another year with the high AF and almost no usage.

I still have my $200 airline credit remaining on one of my Platinum cards. A $94 SW flight should work, right?
It should. I had a SW $99 and $101 get reimbursed last week.

It shouldn't get clawed back, based on all the posts about triple dipping. Did you try for retention yet? I tried last week over chat, but was told the people in the retention department had gone home already. I've been meaning to try again. But with $120 wireless credit, and $400 Dell credit (admittedly harder to use), and $200 airline credit it breaks even for me. Once the AF increases though, it will probably go on the chopping block.

Anyone else get nervous when applying for a new card? I've never been denied but every single time I get nervous when I hit the submit application button. Anyway I was just approved for the Venture X. Looking forward to booking some travel in the upcoming year with my wife and taking advantage of those credits.

Literally did the same thing a few hours ago and felt the same way. I got a Chase card in early November so was a little concerned. I was also approved and plan to buy airline tickets soon to use the credits. The 10k made me a little nervous. We have a WDW trip scheduled for Feb which will eat a huge chunk (3 rooms, 6 people), but until we see all of them at xmas and let them know when the go/no-go date is, it's possible it would fall thru (very busy adult kids + not sure how they feel about omicron and it's looking like we could be in the thick of it then). If that falls thru, I'll have to come up with plan B on hitting the 10k.

Just got $595 credit, no spend on DH's biz plat yesterday. Statement closing 12/29, narrowly missing the fee increase on 1/13.

Won't be as lucky on his twin plats though, those AF post in Feb. Hopefully he can get the 55-60k, $4000 spend offers.
