Genie+ at DLR starting on 12/8

Here’s my own personal “test” for this Saturday. It won’t prove anything to anyone, or mean anything really. Im just curious to see if I can accomplish the following in a reasonable amount of time without things selling out or having outrageously late return times.

Disneyland:
Rise (ILL)
Space Mountain
Matterhorn
Indy
Big Thunder
Haunted Mansion
Small World

California Adventure:
RSR (ILL)
GotG

If I can get the DL stuff done before 1pm and then hop to CA and get that done in the mid afternoon, that’s amazing.

Since I am hopping, and want to head to RSR right after 1pm I guess I’m gonna need to monitor return times and try to grab it right as return times hit that 1pm window.

Curious how this is going to work. If it’s easy, great. If it’s a whole debacle and takes all day and I don’t even get what I want, not ideal. Curious to see.

I used genie+ at WDW last week for 5 days and if you have used maxpass this will feel familiar.

the change for DLR that I like is having to be in the park. The 7am rush at WDW was my major criticism of it.

the change for DLR I do not like is that for the extra paid $LL I can't chose my time. It was nice at WDW to choose the times for those. But my guess is that at DLR they are doing this because they know their audience is different.

we don't go for 10 months so lots of time to see how it goes. From my WDW perspective I liked the system. The fee genie was annoying to me- someone who knows the parks well and has my own strategy. But I liked being able to see the things I had booked like dining and rides on the my day page as well as add shows and things I wanted to remember.

I think we will see longer lasting availability at Disneyland than WDW... just based off what we saw with Maxpass.

with the $LL not into account I am sure we will see guardians run out first for the day and probably space mountain.

my expirence at WDW was that it wasn't always the best idea to book those first because then I could get late evening times and then be locked out from booking for 2 hours...It was best to rope drop those and then use genie+ on rides I could get quick return times for. That was my expirence.

I was able to ride everything at WDW using a combo of genie+, $LL, rope drop and single rider and never waited in a long line during thanksgiving.

there won't be the 7am mad dash at DLR as you will have to be in the park.

the biggest trying to remember is: "I can book after I tap into the last ride I booked or every 2 hours: which ever comes first"

At WDW we also found that you had to reach the second tap in for a ride if there was two.

I'll answer my own question. Yes you can starting after December 8th.

Yes only if you plan on using it every day. If you choose not to use it for a day you would be better off buying it day of

I am an all in kinda Disney gal.. I'll be adding it to our whole trip.

Okay, well ... first trip to DL in 20+ years 12/12 - 17. And I get to be a guinea pig for G+! People, please send thoughts and prayers.

We are there 12/13 - 12/17 too. First prep was how to get in VQ, then how to do standby, now Genie+. We did love Max Pass so hoping the basic interaction is the same. We know you can only ride once and the 3 rides that have ILL. Fingers crossed!

I literally bought photopass+ week pass for 80 bucks 4 hours ago. Now this comes with free photopass included. Photopass terms clearly state non refundable, non transferable. Did I just get screwed out of 80 dollars??

Let the excitement begin! The once per attraction part is a bummer. Maxpass was fun refreshing & grabbing favorite rides over & over. Citizens of Disneyland…we will adapt and still keep the magic going!
