I love credit cards so much! v4.0 - 2021 (see first page for add'l details)

Looking for my Disney cards to get 2022 dues on my DVC paid, so used Best Buy offers and a Chase offer to get 10% off, plus some UR's, MR's and Marriott points.

Was able to apply to my account as a credit, which was a relief. I do not want to hold any gift cards much longer than it takes me to get them home from the store. Didn't have time to go by Staples, but I've got a few weeks.

And, stopped by Office Depot and it was gone. Hmm. It didn't take me out of the way so didn't bother to call. Guess I'll call around and see if any are still alive in the area.

This past year I came down to the wire getting discounted cards but even though a slow process, worth it in the end. The highest return was 26%, and the lowest 11% so not bad. Would like more over 20%!

Edit: I can always use my CIC to wipe this out quickly at 5%, but since I'm retired, it's almost a game and a small job to track and use the larger discounts (10% plus) as they land. I'm going to try to do a better tallying job to get the overall per cent saved this year.

Wish I could buy one from you lol, I'm looking to stay at a Hyatt in Cleveland tomorrow night.
I wish too. I'm trying to talk DH into a staycation a couple miles from home where we can take the dog. DS could use the pool but even he's not excited at the prospect

and I'm trying to do a local staycation with one that expires at the end of the month!

I think this is a good reminder to keep an updated list in whatever form you want as long as it's outside your head.

Any time I get a new card, PC or close I track it on a spreadsheet. I also keep track of when and what I got retention offers for on my amex so I know when I can ask again. I also color code the ones that count in my ?/24 until they drop off and I make all closed cards grey.
I do this as well, almost exactly as you. If others might find helpful, here's what my headers look like. I have a section for myself and P2. I do exactly as @afan and colorcode anything that counts towards 5/24. I strikethrough anything closed, and use grey to list upcoming cards I might consider. It helps me plot out staying under 5/24.

This is similar to what I do. I have one doc for all cards, DH and mine. Under holder I have his initials or mine, they are red or blue respectively if they count against 5/24. So I can quickly glance down the list and count them. If I cancel a card, I change the basic info for that card to purple so I know it's closed and add date closed.
Ok....so I waited on hold for about an hour-finally got transferred to the recon rep.... she told me she had no info on the exact cards, but I had 3 chase,2 amex within the past two years on file. So.... I also did what you suggested and wrote each and every one down from journey...no surprises there now. It's exactly the last list I shared. So either they're counting the biz cc,or an inquiry(?) Either way she confirmed that 12/19 date so I guess no matter what I won't be considered 4/24 till January. I have no idea if there will be anything useful at that point to try for,and that is sad b/c I have a boatload of bills to pay..... I guess this is what is called "a lesson". Thank you all for your assistance.... I appreciate all the input! I'm washing my hands here and hope to start anew in the new year..... ETA I also let the rep know I never got a letter about any of this.
This surprises me because I have done recon and they listed every card I had opened in 2 years including an AU. They insisted the AU counted even though I said I wasn't responsible for charges. So I wasn't approved but they absolutely knew which cards I opened. When they says they don't know what cards, maybe they mean they are looking at credit report and it doesn't explicitly state "Chase Freedom opened 12/2019". You should be able to go thru the issuer and date opened to match what they see.

Now I’m curious - @mhautz posted a really interesting article about statement close and payment due dates for Chase. It said the following:

“If you see that your payment due date is the 1st of the month then your statement will always close on the 4th of the month beforehand. The same formula works through the 25th of the month, just add 3 days to the month beforehand.”

“Payment due dates on the 26-28th get a bit trickier. If you have the 26th then your statement will close on the 1st of that month. If you have the 27th then your statement will close on the 2nd of that month. If you have the 28th then your statement will close on the 3rd of that month. There are no payment due dates from the 29-31st.”

Anyone care to chime in with whether this lines up with their cards? As it does for @platamama.
I can confirm that the information lines up with my Chase cards. 3 cards have payment dates between the 5th and 24th of the month and their closing dates are 3 days after. 1 card has a payment date of the 26th and the closing date is on the 1st.

Congrats on having an Amex AU! I know you've been looking forward to it! 😄

The first time I got an AU card for DD, Amex wouldn't let me set up an online account (it wouldn't accept her SSN). I let it go, and the card eventually got canceled (or so I thought).

The next time, I ended up calling in to get her set up. I needed a username, SSN confirmation (verbally), and an email address for her. Interestingly, the card I thought was canceled was sitting in her account once I logged in. 🤷‍♀️ Sometimes her cards have better offers than mine or DH's!
Congrats to your DS! It always a big day when they get their first AmEx card!

DS’s SSN wasn’t working on his first AmEx card (even though I was taking it directly from his SSN card) so I had to call in to resolve. I would say he is minor and you are happy to answer any questions.

Got DS's Amex online account working! It was a little painful lol. First I had DH call since the AU is under his plat. He used the details of his plat. But he was told that they need to talk to DS. Even though he told them he's a minor. The rep asked the supervisor too. When DS got home from school, I called again using the details of the AU card. They needed DH to verify his plat and other info and then was able to do it. I was on speaker phone with DS, but it seemed like they didn't really need him. 🤷‍♀️ So I guess the mistake was using the details of the primary card the first call.

After all that, I didn't find the cruise offers I was looking for. 😓 Maybe they've all been saved. Oh well, it'll still be good to have the extra account in the future.

While on this subject, I have a very weird, specific DP to share. DH has 2 plats that both had the AU offer. I added DS to the first card successfully, but the second card went pending. The offer then disappeared from the second card. I tried chat, but they were no help. Then I get a letter saying application declined as a duplicate. I added DS's SSN when I did it. I wonder if it would have worked if I didn't. 🤷‍♀️ It's fine though, I don't really need the extra MSR lol.

We are trying for a 2022/2023 SW CP for my DH. He applied for a SW personal CC back in October (waiting to spend on it until closer to the new year) and a SW Business card two days ago. Wasn't approved instantly, so I called the automated status line yesterday and it said "processing - 2 weeks" and today when I called I got "under review - 7-10 days." According to a reddit flowchart I've seen, this seems to mean that it'll be denied and we should think about calling recon (not sure if DH will be comfortable doing this). Any recent DP on whether this is still accurate or not? The original post looks to be from 4 years ago. Keeping my fingers crossed for an eventual approval.

Yay for getting it all working, even if it took some effort!

I've seen the AU offer come and go, so I think you'll get the opportunity to add your DS sometime in the future as well. In DH's account, he had an AU offer for his Gold - 10K/$2K MSR - and on his Plat he had a 20K/$2K MSR, and IIRC I added DD as an AU on his Gold and then when I went to make her AU on his Plat, it was gone. But it did eventually show back up, so I added her later. I've learned to slow down when I log into Amex now, to watch for banners at the top that might show some interesting offer, before going straight to what I was going to check out.

When using a Chase offer does it disappear from the Added area once you receive credit? On some of my cards I've used an offer for Shop Disney and received the credits but the offers are still there. Also I'm pretty sure that the time to use increased but I can't be sure.

I've noticed that for some offers the time gets extended but if you use it again, you don't get credit. You'll see the offer in the added and redeemed section. I tried with a ShopDisney offer before.

Sorry I can't answer your specific question, but I was wondering what your app dates were? Maybe you could share all your card dates from this year?

DH is going for 2 biz with an app on 10/11 and then planning for 12/15. But I am worried that may be too close together... His velocity prior to that is fine.

I'm interested in applying for a SW biz and I do have a registered LLC. In looking at the application, will both the actual business name and my name be on the credit card? I'd prefer it this way, but it's unclear to me from reading the application. I didn't really want it to be only the business name.

I think you will be fine…my DP with 2 SW business cards…first 10/10…instant approval $8k CL….second 11/25…went pending…approved 11/29…same CL
