You are only at 3/24 (Flex, Amex, IHG).
I would try again on 12/8. Was too many open cards the only reason on the denial letter?

All the cards you applied for will show a hard pull/inquiry….they show for my chase business applications as well as personal

The 5/24 is for cards opened in the last 24 months
.all personal card…includes any you are an authorized user on and any that have been closed…

Chase and Amex business should not show up on your list of accounts….I seem to remember some other bank’s business cards do…but not sure which

yeah.....about that letter- she told me today a denial was sent out on Nov 8....I never got anything, not via any source. But multiple reps all confirmed too many cards in past 2 years as reason. No other explanation, everything else in good standing. I'm wondering,do I try on the 8th (if there's still any decent offers out) or not? I had thought I was 3/24 also..which is why this all took me by surprise.

I'm an AU on one of P2 biz cards..... that's not counted either right? So what do you think I'm looking at here then? I can't seem to get anywhere at all. Was thinking if I did a personal cc app,it might get me some better information if the same denial happens...I mean, that is literally my only plan right now..... (how long do I need to wait to app for a biz after a personal again?)

I think you should double check all your account opened dates. You can do this by clicking into each account listed (on Experian or Credit Journey), both open and closed.

Also, did you open any car loans, mortgage, or home equity lines? These shouldn't count. But maybe something is being counted wrong.

AU on biz card would only show up if the biz card reports to your personal credit report. Off hand, that might be some Capital One or Discover biz cards. But you would be able to see this once you look through all your open and closed accounts on your credit report.

I did all that...checked and triple checked. The one oddball thing I'm looking into next is we paid off our mortgage in October....it's still showing with a little balance left on all the reports. Could this possibly affect anything?

an AU on Amex and Chase business cards shouldn’t show on your personal credit report….other business cards may…I just don’t remember which
I’d click on all open and closed cards on your credit journey and see what is shown as the opening date on each
I’d try and find out what’s going on before doing another application
…..it’s a weird situation…no letter in the mail or in your business account

Ok..... thank you all for tolerating my  questions here..... every time I think I have this figured out,I forget some detail or other and make myself miserable.....I didn't even know the credit journey was thing! That was most illuminating..... so it appears (?) I am 5/24 ....counting inquiries- I miscalculated (I think) I had one that dropped Nov.5,and app'ed on the 8th,too close I guess. In addition,I have 4 chase
*dates* 11/20-1/21-3/21-7/21 plus an amex so that's 5....one of those 5 is a C.I.U. For some reason I had it stuck in my head that didn't count,as it's a biz card. So counting that,I'm not under again till 11/22......:charac2: And this is why my records are getting a total refresh.

Is there a card you opened in the past 2 years that you have closed and may not be remembering?

It seems odd that none of the Chase reps have been willing to talk to you about specific cards. Way back when I was starting to collect credit cards I miscalculated how many months a certain card had been open, and I did apply for a Chase card when I was at 5/24. When I called, the rep was able to tell me which cards they were seeing as having been opened within the past 24 months. I don't recall the exact conversation but I do remember saying that I was looking at a copy of my credit report and only seeing four cards and then the person went through the five that they were counting. If it were me, I would call back and say something like "I'm only seeing three cards opened in the last 2 years--are you saying that is too many? Or am I looking at my report wrong?"

Ok...... My walk of shame is complete today. I dug a bit deeper, and found an Amex that had been opened and closed within one year....this was 2020. Can I use that for my excuse?:sad2: I can't recall what I was thinking about,I remember opening it,and realizng the card wasn't what I wanted, and closed it out. I think I was pretty much despairing of ever traveling again and throwing caution and good sense to the wind momentarily...(?) At any rate, there's #5.... it was an Amex Blue. (and to top it off, I went to my office document to verify this, and all the Amex inputs had melded into one big lump that said "amex" in multiple boxes. No idea what's going on there but time to start from scratch with the proper info.
SO to sum it all up in glorious print....
11/5/19- CIC (still showing on journey page)
12/28/19- Amex Blue
11/23/20 Flex
1/8/21 CIU
6/10/21 Amex everyday
7/16/21 IHG
11/8/21 SWA biz denied
that's 6 inquiries total chase,2 amex.
I think that 11/5/19 one hadn't dropped off yet to create this mess I made..... if that's the case....would that mean I'm 4/24 now? I mean, after 12/8? and wih no other apps,I should be 3/24 by 1/2022? (I feel like such a noob right now...been doing this for years I obviously need a mental break)

Biz cards don't count and aren't on your credit report so the cic from 11/19 makes no difference.

You should still call, ask for the reconsideration dept because you have questions about your denial and ask them to tell you exactly what they because you don't show 5 cards.

Did they say your denial was due to inquiries or cards? You said cards, but you're counting inquiries. Ignore the inquiries for now.

(BIZ) 11/5/19- CIC (still showing on journey page)
(1/24) 12/28/19- Amex Blue
(2/24) 11/23/20 Flex
(BIZ) 1/8/21 CIU
(3/24) 6/10/21 Amex everyday
(4/24) 7/16/21 IHG

This list shows you are 4/24. Now, if they did deny for inquiries that would be interesting because that usually isn't too big of an issue.

I think if you go into Credit Journey, go to Open Accounts. Click on every single box. Write down the "Opened On" date. Make a note if it's credit card or mortgage, etc. Do the same for Closed Accounts.

I think it would be informative.

One of my close friends is a HS teacher and she is counting the days until she is eligible for full retirement. She said that there isn't a single day that she doesn't think about taking early retirement (she has to teach until June, 2023).

My sister is an elementary school teacher. My dad was a school principal.

HUGE respect for teachers here. Thank you for all that you do for the next generation.

I think this is a good reminder to keep an updated list in whatever form you want as long as it's outside your head.

Any time I get a new card, PC or close I track it on a spreadsheet. I also keep track of when and what I got retention offers for on my amex so I know when I can ask again. I also color code the ones that count in my ?/24 until they drop off and I make all closed cards grey.

I do this as well, almost exactly as you. If others might find helpful, here's what my headers look like. I have a section for myself and P2. I do exactly as @afan and colorcode anything that counts towards 5/24. I strikethrough anything closed, and use grey to list upcoming cards I might consider. It helps me plot out staying under 5/24.

Ok....so I waited on hold for about an hour-finally got transferred to the recon rep.... she told me she had no info on the exact cards, but I had 3 chase,2 amex within the past two years on file. So.... I also did what you suggested and wrote each and every one down from journey...no surprises there now. It's exactly the last list I shared. So either they're counting the biz cc,or an inquiry(?) Either way she confirmed that 12/19 date so I guess no matter what I won't be considered 4/24 till January. I have no idea if there will be anything useful at that point to try for,and that is sad b/c I have a boatload of bills to pay..... I guess this is what is called "a lesson". Thank you all for your assistance.... I appreciate all the input! I'm washing my hands here and hope to start anew in the new year..... ETA I also let the rep know I never got a letter about any of this.
