Why we didn't get any free souvies as resort guests:

I stayed at BLT and was in the MK on 10/1. I did not expect anything in my room for the 50th and was pleasantly surprised by the commemorative park map and poster, both of which I plan to frame together. The free photo pass for the day was nice, but I'm not a big photo pass user.

Lol, it meant something to me. I was literally about to buy it for the day when I realized that none of my pics had watermarks on them. There were several people in the 10/1 thread who were excited about it as well. Not everyone is negative about everything. But yet, once again I'm insulted for saying something positive.

People are disgustingly ridiculous.
I think it's disgustingly ridiculous that I have to defend a post where I think it would have been nice to get a commemorative pin, 1 per family, for a >$1,000/night room.

yeah, no need to cheerlead because you liked your free photopass. Start your own 'yay I got a free photopass' thread.

I'm pretty sure I agreed with your original post, but whatever. Not worth it.
You chose to attack me for saying I was happy that we at least got something.

If I were Disney, I might have had housekeeping deliver the same posters they were giving out at the exit to MK to the rooms of people who were going to check in on October 1 or be there on the day: I mean, you already had more than enough, your guests could take an extra or not when leaving the park, and they'd like the alternative of not having to transport that thing back to their rooms. It looks like something extra, but, at the end of the day, not really anything different at all.

Is housekeeping going into rooms everyday now? If so, then yeah, this would make sense. At the same time, how do you tell which guests went to MK that day vs. people that avoided it and went to the other 3 parks? I think that’s why they try to give those things away to the people that actually attended the event.

I was there for the opening of Pandora and Galaxy’s Edge and I don’t remember anything being in our room either.

Funny because I just posted on another thread that I was surprised that resort guests did not even get a trinket (like the things described in this box) in their room on the 50th.

For those who choose not to click: pins, magnets, and assorted fun trivia for the bargain price of $500. Limited release, of course :smickey:

Magic for those who will pay the price.

Because Disney doesn't have to give "free" things to draw people. Free cookies, or free parking are for the motel 6 operators who don't have high occupancy rates.

Because Disney is a for profit company. A $5 trinket x 15,000 hotel rooms every week for 52 weeks = $3.9 million in lost profits.

Because current leadership does not care about the guest experience and point number two is all that matters.

Not only that, but there's somehow a causal link between this particular outrageously priced product and the fact that people in the resorts don't get stuff for free.
People are saying they shouldn't give stuff away for free when they could profit. My point in linking the product price is that them giving away a pin or magnet is basically free, at those prices. And if I am disappointed in the overpriced product, and I stop buying the overpriced product, or just buy it less, I think that does more damage to their bottom line than giving me a pin.

1 per room :smickey:

Whose giving out a $5 trinket every week? I said 1 pin per room for the 50th. btw I mean one day. Not the whole weekend.

If Disney has so much high occupancy they should be opening all of their values. And fwiw CR wasn't at full capacity either.

I'm either a valued customer or I'm not. Throw me a pin. It probably costs them 20 cents.

well...the 50th celebration is going for 18 months actually.

Anyone who checks in that day is easy. Any room which is going to be occupied on 10/1 and not get a housekeeping refresh before 10/1 gets the poster. The last refresh before 10/1 does a poster.
Reservations can print out a schedule of rooms for housekeeping to do.

Or, here’s an easier one: roll them and put them in bags hanging off door handle at 5am 10/1.

[edited to clean up spelling and capitalization (thanks iphone auto correct for NOTHING!) and also to say I'm here to explain how you give away an already free poster under the sleight-of-hand that is customer service]

People are complaining about price increases, less experiences, less hours, charging for services that used to be free, etc. All of those are valid reasons to not go...........but you........you're ready to write of Disney over..........................a pin?
Boski, your outrage is misdirected.

I have complained to Disney about services and I have been compensated many pinsworth. The pin is not about money.

I wouldn't write over a pin. Today I wrote GS an email complimenting an exceptional CM today. Hope the CM sees it.

Also I'm not sure why my complaint is less valid than any complaint on these boards. My complaint would probably be the quickest/easiest fix. Are you listening, Mr. Chapek?

Philosophically though, there are posters here thinking that I am ridiculous for wanting a free commemorative pin for my once every 50 years rack rate anniversary stay, but there is not similar outrage that a CEO earns mega millions while CMs work like dogs for peanuts. It's really weird. Surreal.
