Funny because I just posted on another thread that I was surprised that resort guests did not even get a trinket (like the things described in this box) in their room on the 50th. (and by that I mean 10/1)

For those who choose not to click: pins, magnets, and assorted fun trivia for the bargain price of $500. Limited release, of course :smickey:

Magic for those who will pay the price.

^^ At least the Disney site linked above says limit of 2 per person to try to limit resellers hoarding them all to make a fast buck.

So your complaint is that they are selling things, instead of giving them for free to everyone staying at the resorts?

If I were Disney, I might have had housekeeping deliver the same posters they were giving out at the exit to MK to the rooms of people who were going to check in on October 1 or be there on the day: I mean, you already had more than enough, your guests could take an extra or not when leaving the park, and they'd like the alternative of not having to transport that thing back to their rooms. It looks like something extra, but, at the end of the day, not really anything different at all.

Honestly, the best souvenirs these days are the ones at McDonalds. Get those Happy Meals and get those collectibles. My 10yo daughter was super pumped yesterday when she pulled a Minnie Mouse. I've still got my eyes out for Donald.

Think I will pass on the 50th anniversary box for $500. Seems like a LOT of money for a few trinkets that most will just end up putting in a drawer somewhere.

As I said, a token gift would have been a nice gesture for the 50th celebration.

They were charging rack rates for all rooms and the cost of a pin or even a magnet is minimal, yet it would have been 'magical' for the many ultra loyal Disney fans who were there to celebrate a milestone anniversary. Sometimes even a minimal expenditure can return much more to a business in terms of goodwill. Don't they teach that in business school anymore? Or is it just a brutal, make the money, disregard the customer mantra? Doesn't seem like a good long-term business plan.

I mean, they gave every single person that entered the park something that could have potentially cost each guest $70. That's not nothing to me.

Everyone got photopass for free for the day. Which a one day cost is $69. Now I know that typically a family would get one and others would have it through their annual pass, but its still not a small amount.
That costs Disney literally zero. A lot of people who went are AP holders, Disney loyalists, who probably didn't need it, or resellers who didn't want it, likewise media and bloggers who were not interested. Whatever. Not a trinket in the room, sad for the prices being charged, my opinion.

Carry on cheerleading.

Lol, it meant something to me. I was literally about to buy it for the day when I realized that none of my pics had watermarks on them. There were several people in the 10/1 thread who were excited about it as well. Not everyone is negative about everything. But yet, once again I'm insulted for saying something positive.

People are disgustingly ridiculous.
