10/1/21 (Planning thread for those w/ Magic Kingdom ressies on the BIG 50th)!

Waited 2.5 hours for food at Peco Bills. Finally asked a CM and they sent us to a line to expedite it. Now going on 3 hours and my original order isn’t ready yet. They are telling people 3 hours for food 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was in Pecos Bills 45 minutes after you posted this. According to your 3 hour estimate you may even have still been there eating.

We had to select a time slot 40 minutes ahead. So, we ordered our food in line at Peter Pan while you were 2.5h into your mess.

After Pan, we walked over, clicked “I’m here for food” and got it within 5 minutes. Not only that, the restaurant seating was half empty.

Are you counting 3-hours from the time you ordered or the time you clicked “I’m here to pick up”?

I'm not there with you all, but I see the wait times on the app are ridiculously low - is this because everyone is waiting out for the fireworks?

The only lines, all day, were for merchandise and food. Neither of which we needed, so we were fine. The 50th celebration was a total bust. Completely underwhelming, but we were able to walk on most rides. Even mine train was only 20 minutes. So not a total wash.

Anyone disappointed that there was not any type of re-dedication ceremony today? I was looking forward to seeing some type of ceremony to commerate the 50th.
It was all a show for Good Morning America and in turn increased profits. Positive side we rode every ride with minimal waits and chuckled in amazement at 2 hour lines for popcorn buckets. “Happy 50th” and we should all now understand what Disney is and will be under Chapek.

Reading your posts here made me so happy! We also had a charmed day, truly. And we were halfway down mainstreet to for Enchantment, so we must not have been too far from each other 😀
I was on the right side when facing the castle, right next to the glass shop (can't remember the name of it)

We ordered a 12:25 pick-up window. Clicked we are here at that time and waited and waited. Checked in with cast members around 1:15 and said they were running 2 hours behind. We were waiting outside with a group of people whose order was for 11:30 pick-up window at they still hadn't been notified of their food. Another couple was 11:15 and nothing. Left, rode two rides (no wait times) left the park and got Boo Bash tickets, came back in, and got a banana split. Came back to Pecos Bills around 2:20-2:40 and asked another gal and she said some orders were backed up 3 hours. Waited for a few then decided to cancel. (once you click you are there you can no longer cancel) and so we had to talk to a CM about going to a register to cancel. Told the CM at the door we wanted to cancel and he said to go to line #1 and they will expedite your order for you. Packed inside so I got a table while my husband grabbed the food. (around 3 -3:15 PM) It was craziness. After the 3 hour mark, I stopped checking to see if we ever got the notification...Not sure if they went in and canceled after they expedited it. Maybe they caught up with the lunchtime orders when you arrived? Someone told me that had received over 500 mobile orders the morning of and that didn't include people like me who ordered around lunchtime.

You're right, re: the perception. I am sure it was a special treat for a Disney fan to be there. I would have really enjoyed the vibe, AND the short attraction lines!!
It was awesome. It was like just about everyone there were mostly the biggest hardcore Disney fans. It was a different kind of vibe than any other day at the park.

How are things in the parks today? Is there still long lines for stores, restaurants and popcorn buckets?
HS wasn't bad at all this morning, which was probably expected. I hopped to Epcot a little after 2. World Showcase is packed, F&W booth lines are long. Future World isn't bad though. Creations shop was very crowded, but there was no line to get in. Not sure how MK looks.

I initially had a park reservation at Epcot for today. Sounds like I made a good decision to just come home after I loaded the car at Pop. WS and Creations would have been where I would have spent most of my time.

I did cancel the park res in case someone else could use it.

We’re back home in SC - drove home today after eight amazing nights at our happy place. We loved spending yesterday at Magic Kingdom. We were literally two of the first 100 people in the park when it opened, and the feeling was just magical - to think of those first people entering the same gates 50 years earlier.

My favorite moment was the impromptu version of Happy Birthday sung by everyone waiting at the turnstiles at 6 am. It was a different crowd - a different vibe - as someone else said. You could tell you were surrounded by people who shared your love of Disney World.

Hoping we’re blessed enough to be there for the 60th, the 75th and beyond.
