Fastpass return or replacement?

If fast passes is why you would leave ORL, good bye. What about :hurricanes, I-4, toll roads , tourist, traffic, hot weather, TOURIST!, gators , python's ,and less not forget about traffic and tourist
Exactly why we left, you needed to add hot weather a couple of more times. LOL We didn't mind the gators on the golf course or canoeing.

Okay I am late to this party and have been skimming but …. Is this Lightning Lane thing a book day of thing, when you are already in the park? … I’ve already got anxiety :crazy2:

You do book same-day. For Genie+ it's like the old paper FPs - you can get a return time, then once used get another. For the paid attractions I am not sure how much freedom you have in scheduling, but it is also day-of at 7 AM.

I cannot remember now, are you allowed to pick a time or does the new system's just plug you in the next available space?

It's next available for rides included in the $15 free, you can schedule on the extra fee rides. What I'll be curious to see, and where I see an issue, is say you want to ride one of the more popular rides, assuming they're included with no fee- Space or Splash for example and by 10am -11am the next available time isn't until late afternoon- You have to make the choice of do you want to lock yourself out of getting a FP for anything until that late in the day? Because I definitely see the most popular rides being taken first early in the day. Few people will lock themselves out of anything else to wait 4-5 hrs to ride one thing.

It will be interesting to see how this all works out in real time. I'm just really glad I won't be one of the first and can see how strategies develop. I'm super interested to see how they'll do EMH's and EE for resort guests. That could be a game changer.

they can’t as there not tall enough

I would assume if it’s one you pay for then it would work like the virtual boarding groups for rotr. You both have to have a boarding group to use rider swap on rotr. They may tell her she has to wait in a line if she doesn’t want to pay and a line is the option. The fee guarantees you a spot without a wait in line but if you were both without a child you would both be expected to pay. I see no reason one person would ride free bc of a child.

I am hearing if that is the case there might be a two hour rule where after that you can purchase another one

It seems to me, and I could be wrong, the most popular rides are going to be in the Lightning Lane which is separate from the $15 Genie + feature so you won't be able to get those to the exclusion of the other Genie + rides.

i'd guess for genie+ it's like the 'current' (rip) fast pass where you can book the next one as soon as you scan in at the ride fp entrance, and then try to see if you can get a better time, etc? basically, are they pretty much reusing the fast pass+ system for that (just without the pre-booked fp except for the couple you can buy)?

This will be a nightmare for my extended family going to Disney together. For most of my family, just going to WDW and buying base tickets is a huge splurge. Now adding in these extra prices, they most likely won’t be able to afford it. Now when we travel with them there will be an awkward “let’s ride mine train!” And then they’ll have to say, “sorry, we can’t afford to buy a pass, we’ll have to sit this one out.” 😢 I’m assuming that no one in my family will want to wait in lines longer than 45 minutes since we have never in the past.

I always wanted to go with my brothers family. We have been talking about doing it since before covid but they have 5 kids. We have 2. They definitely won’t do any of the added expenses so I think a trip with them is out for us.

Hi, trying to catch up since work got in the way. Not sure if I have this correct. These are some of my questions (calling Genie + G+ and ala carte rides LL$)

1. Staying on site is not a huge plus unless you are shooting for LL$ for the tier one rides or want to get in the park 30 minutes early? No benefit staying on site for G+? No benefit for DVC/Deluxe guests announced.

2. Multiple members of the party will have to get up at 7am to book VQ, G+ and LL$ all at 7am EVERYDAY OF THE VACATION

3. If I get G+ it appears I have to buy for all ticket days?

4. How does that fit with being able to purchase LL$ without G+?

5. Once I book a G+ ride at 7am, can I book another or do I need to ride the first G+ attraction first? For example with FP+ at 60 days I could get my 3 FP+ at once.

At first I was thinking this wasn't so bad but if my group of 5 is going for a longer period over the holidays, I'm looking at $75 per day, not horrible until I do that for 8 days = $600 for the basic rides, then figuring surge pricing of possibly $25 per LL$ pp over the course of 1 tier 1 ride in each park we are up to $1100 additional :( .

But for me I think the thing I dislike the most is the 7am same day madness, trying to rope drop, virtual queue, GP+ and LL$.
I much preferred to do all of that in advance so when I got on vacation I could relax.

If it's just the two adults and one too small child, then there wouldn't be much benefit. Where the benefit comes in is with larger parties. So the group can be split up. One group rides and one group waits with the small child, then they swap. Or older kids can ride twice, once with each adult.

None of those things require a paid system. I can understand why you might like a different way of doing it. But that's going back to my analogy about different restaurants and personal taste. The question I asked was specifically about any added value to justify charging for a free system, rather than your personal preference. Based on your response it looks like you prefer the new system, so you consider the added cost worth it as it fits your personal taste better. But as that shift could have been done via adjustments to the free system it still results in you as a consumer being worse off.
I guess I don’t understand your question then, I believe I mentioned several things that were added value, not just my personal preference. Getting shut out of RotR and having a new way into the ride, that alone is a huge one to me.

And “none of those things require a paid system”…Much of what Disney charges for doesn’t require a paid system. I don’t understand the argument.

And I am thinking the other way, especially with crowds being high almost all the time now. I am thinking that there are going to be a lot of people shutout of their favorite rides unless they get online at around 7AM. I guess time will tell:)
Yeah, either could be true. I’m hoping it turns out that they are still readily available throughout the day. We’ll see!
