Disney Store Permanently Closed 2020

The most recent announcement of closures are all in malls owned by Brookfield.

I have a Google sheet with all of the North American closures thus far (I just like obsessively looking at patterns and data). I do know that some of the Toronto-area stores had prolonged closures due to the shutdowns in the province, but all are currently operating. Polo Park in Winnipeg confirmed that Disney was leaving, even though the company didn't announce it.
Roosevelt Field is a Simon mall. Years ago Roosevelt Field had a DVC display, don't remember if it had a DVC sales office.Lease expiration is probably the factor.

Should have said "almost all" of the closures in the recent announcement. Simon malls have remained largely untouched for now, though I wonder if they're taking the longest to negotiate on lease agreements.

Simon sued Starbucks. They wanted to hold Starbucks to "teavana" lease terms. Simon wanted the stores to remain open. Paying rent on an empty store wasn't good enough. I don't know what happened

edited to add the lawsuit was settled. Terms not disclosed.

South Hills Village Pittsburgh was a Simon Mall.

Disney is getting out of the brick and morter store business. Everything will be on line. As quickly as they can get released from their leases, each store will close.

You made a mistake on the British Columbia locations. They are closing on July 14. Not June 19. I know the fact. Originally, It was at least 60 stores.

It could be more then paying to break leases. Simon owns, or co owns, 4 brands that were going out. Aeropstile, Lucky, forever 21 and Brooks Brothers.

Simon could be looking to keep stores open under some arrangement

Thanks, typo. I inputted the date I was on rather than the closing date, and quite honestly after the rumored closure of stores Canada-wide, the second sheet hasn't really been my focus.

That means ether 99 or 100 stores left if Winnipeg loses their Disney Store. But I feel sorry that Brookfield Properties lost their interest with The Disney Store.

Disney must think Target Disney sections meets B&M needs.

Contracting with Amazon to handle fulfillment and shipping should dramatically improve order processing.
I don't have any idea if Disney is going to do contract with Amazon. It would be an easy solution

Nor Wal-Mart. But sadly, There is no Target stores in Canada.

A contract with Amazon to fulfill would help with Canada too, it would be a great idea - it's frustrating for Canadian shoppers to pay so much for shipping/duty.

The Target 'Disney Store' is a good idea in theory, but the sections end up being messy and unattended at my local one. Though some of the merchandise overlaps with the store (figurine sets), there is a lot of the same Target Disney licensed merchandise you'd normally find at Target (ie: role play costumes were the cheaper, Target version). Having no control over the 'look' of the brand seems off for Disney. I believe that's in part why they took back the stores from Children's Place ownership? I understand that they're really going for this 'B&M is dead' thing, but it's sad for all those folks who can't regularly (or ever!) go to the parks and want to experience the magic in person at the mall.

I agree. I hate the truth too, but this is whats going to happen I think.

(kind of off topic I know)
I have a question here. I wanted some of the H2O Plus Sea Salt shampoo and conditioner and did they not use to sell it (cheaper) on the H2O website? Well if so, then they no longer sell it. I actually had to buy it through Shop Disney today. :sad2: I am wondering if Disney called dibs on this and made them quit selling it?

I just found out my local store in Delaware in closing in July. It's as old as I am and I have gotten to celebrate two grand opening celebrations there because it is an Imagination store. It's in a Simon Mall.
