What is your opinion on the United Kingdom?

Have you ever done unpaid work?

Sure! I volunteered for various things starting in college and going right through DS's childhood. I've taken a bit of break lately, but will probably look for something again soon.

I've been a tutor, children's program volunteer/coordinator, food pantry bagger/treasurer/board member, VBS photographer, PTA member/newsletter coordinator, assistant CCD teacher, Cub Scout den mother...

I mean I work in education so there are countless hours outside of my salaried contract hours...

I also had to do 400 clinical hours going through grad school. As someone already mentioned that's a situation where I paid to work. That was fun...

I did some volunteer work in high school and college too. I'd love to find a regular volunteer gig someday, but it may need to wait until retirement. See first point.

I worked at a private school that was sold to another company. For two weeks I worked for free... when the new company did not pay me or any other staff we all left.

We volunteer every week at church, but I dont think that's what you ment.

There's not much interesting in my family, a lot of teachers, state employees, and the generations before that were all farmers. Probably the most interesting "job" was my great-grandpa, who along with farming was a bootlegger during prohibition.

Absolutely, I volunteer at church. I volunteered at a local ice skating club. I took care of an elderly neighbor full time for a couple years until she passed so she wouldn't have go to into care.
I dont know, I was just raised to help others while living my life. I just sort of figured most or many of us feel this way. :confused3

I am a volunteer docent (tour guide) for the Fairfax County Parks System. I usually work at historic buildings, currently the Sully House close to Dulles airport.

I have been a Defense contractor for the last 40 years and in that time I have worked in many very interesting places doing many interesting things. I cannot discuss any details of course since most of the work was classified.

Yup.

Two clinical internships in grad school - both were Sept to May about 20 hours per week and unpaid. Then I waitressed on the weekends too bc I actually did need money and I was taking classes at the same time.

Now I work for free bc I volunteer at an animal shelter and I love it.

I volunteered for 1 year to be the elementary school librarian. It was mostly just one day per week. I’d get the whole school in and out every Wed.
There really was no choice. The governor had made huge budget cuts in the aftermath of ‘08 recession and my town board of education decided an easy thing to cut was the libraries. Really? In elementary school. Unfortunately some schools had nobody to help out for those 2 years.

Yes, various volunteer work. My favorite is being a "Fairy Godmother" at Cinderella's Closet - an organization that helps teen girls go to prom. Always a good to help your community. Win-Win! ::yes:: :thumbsup2

At a job? Yes, I have done that too. Thankfully, never so much I became bitter about it.

Yes, worked for about a year w/o pay for our family business. We were trying keep our heads above water and be able to pay employees. It was a rough, rough year all around but luckily we came out the other side.

My nephew was a head coach with three different WHL teams: Portland Winterhawks, Calgary Hitmen and Tri-City Americans.

Dark, everyone in my family is fair, blue eyed and blonde or red. I go out with one blue eyed blonde and 29 years later we are still together.😂

I liked tall football players. (American football)
Same, although I liked tall baseball players too - basically tall, built, athletic guys. But they had to be nice; I didn’t like the ones who were full of themselves. I’ve been married to my sweet, tall, American football player (he played in high school and college) for 30 years now!
