Curious about the new monorail deck. Can anyone tell yet if they altered the deck height to allow ECVs/wheelchairs to roll straight in without using the metal ramp? This could indicate a precursor to a new monorail (hopeful).

I brought this up a week or so ago. I don't think we're going to know for sure until it opens. The problem I see (after thinking about it awhile) is that the cause of the current situation with the ramps is that the current version of the monorail cars were built out of spec. Doors were supposed to be flush with the station decks as the previous models were. Someone made a mistake somewhere and what we got were cars that were 6-8 inches too high.

If they raise the Poly's deck to make it flush with the existing trains, there would then be two different deck heights in the system. That would work fine for now, but what do they do in the future when they finally replace the monorail cars? If they raise the Poly's deck, they basically lock themselves into making new cars fit the Poly, and the other 4 stations have to continue using the ramps. That seems like a poor choice in the long term. More likely, the new Poly deck will be at the same height as the old one - unless they've figured out a way to add on the extra 6-8 inches in such a way that it can be easily removed in the future.

I can't believe how quickly this is coming together. A few weeks ago I would've told you they'll never finish this by mid-July, but I totally think it is doable now.

2 1/2 weeks ago, there was another thread where the monorail station constructing was being talked about, with the general opinion being that there was no way it would be completed by July 19. I commented that it looked like all the major time consuming elements were done (steel and concrete work) and that it should go very quickly from there.

I'm gonna take the "told you so" on this one! 😃👍😃🤞

Does anyone know if it'll be a problem to bring food to the cabana? Not like lunch food but snack foods like fruit chunks and cookies?

No, it should be fine. We brought drinks and snacks with no problem. We also ordered/picked up lunch and brought it there as well.

I’ve been searching relentlessly on WDW‘s resort page to book a stay at the Poly, but it doesn’t show any availability as far as I can tell (I’m looking at July, August, October, November, December - nothing). Is that due to the construction and it not being officially back open, or is everything booked? What’s the best way to book it?

It is just due to demand. Construction is set to be finished mid/end of July for the hotel side and the demand to stay there is high.

We are staying at the Poly for the second half of our vacation early Nov. The day we move to the Poly we are planning a resort day. We are thinking of renting a cabana.

- Are the cabanas at the Poly worth it?
- Are they in a good location?
- How many hours can you get one for?

Thanks so much.

“Worth it” is something no one can answer for you, about anything. It’s too subjective. All we can do is offer you the info to make the determination based on your wants/needs/budget.

That said, the Poly doesn’t have cabanas, it has a trio of patios available at the Oasis pool, which is the leisure pool at the resort. I say that to set the expectation...they are much cheaper than the cabanas at the other Deluxes that offer them but it’s because they don’t come with the same amenities. The Oasis patios give you some nice covered seating including a padded lounger but no cooler with fruit tray & drinks, and it’s open air so no ability to close it off for privacy. Here’s what they look like (I took this pic from the lounger):

A CM will take your food and drink orders for the Oasis Bar & Grill. (Hopefully by your trip in Nov. food will be back on the menu. It’s re-opening just with drinks.) The pools at the Poly are fairly close enough to each other that it’s not terrible to use the patio as a home base if someone wants to go to the Lava pool to use the slide or something. In normal times you can book half days or full day, right now only full days are available.

My gf and I enjoyed our patio a lot back in Oct 2018. We booked a full day before going to MNSHHP that evening and plan to do the same thing when we go back this fall for whenever we go to the Boo Bash. Pricing is seasonal; we paid about $75 for a full day in late Oct.
