any kind of credit check pulls(opening of accounts) will count into 5/24. BOA is an end game or a lazy churning card set if your end goal is cashback. if not, u should hold on and complete your 5/24. other idea would be to check your SO and have SO be under 5/24 while u bust out.
My BOA Biz did not.
Thank you both!

I guess I could take BoA up on thier BIZ offer (which came from a personal card I have with them) and hope I don't get a credit pull (thus counting against my */24 count). And maybe since I've had their other card for decades now, and they do a credit pull [which shows on my credit report], I can fall back on wife who is probably around 3 or 4/24 now.

ETA:
My BofA Alaska biz did not. Pretty sure it had a hard pull, but never reported to CR.
Thank you, too!

ETAA: Thinking more, maybe I should give Chase Biz a chance and put away my fears of denial. Then use BoA as Plan B

A hard pull to check your credit isn't what */24 is counted by. The number of cards on your credit report is what the */24 goes off. That's why people want to know if a biz card reports to your CR.

Now having too many hard pulls can be an issue with some banks, but a hard pull has nothing to do with */24. */24 is the number of cards opened AND reported to your credit report. I'm at 4/24 because I have opened that many in the past 2 years and don't have any falling off for like a year. However I've opened more than those 4 because some were biz cards that don't report to your credit, but may have a hard pull.

The reason why a hard pull can be important, is say you have been getting a card from chase every 3 months for 9 months and you're going for number 4. But you live in a state where Amex also pulls from the same CR and you threw in one of those and it was your first so it also did a HP. Now you have 4 HP's on your CR and while you are under 5/24 chase may see the 4 and deny you for too much. It's why it's important to know which banks pull from which of the 3 because they don't all use the same ones and it varies by state. Whichever one chase pulls for me, they are the only one that uses that one so that's nice, but they still see the new cards so it's only so helpful in the one part of the equation. There's one, I think Cap1 that pulls all 3 and is why people will often not get it.

But again, hard pulls aren't what you are counting for you */24, new cards on your credit report are.

Albort - did you miss that he was asking about a biz card bud?

Thank you for the detailed explanation!

I guess until recently, all of my (newly found) churning cards were with Chase, so I never distinguished between a hard credit pull and what went on which credit report, because Chase knew what was going on either way. After being in this game for over a year, I still have a lot to learn!

It's prolly too complex, but is to possible to say if one of these states advantageous over the other(s), credit reporting-wise: IN, FL, VA?

ETA: PS. I have a note that Cap 1 does pull all 3 credit bureaus

Hyatt gurus - I need clarification! I finished up my Hyatt stay to get to 30 for Globalist today. I'd like to ultimately be at 50 nights to qualify for suite upgrades for a Hawaii trip in September 2022. Can I continue to earn those remaining 20 nights organically over the course of this year and then whenever I arrive at 50 I'll be eligible for the suite upgrade in 2022? I'm thinking yes, but want to be sure. If not, then I'm going to do another run this coming week through 2/28 to earn the double nights promo. My preference is to keep the points I've earned (vs using them for a run) and just acquire the extra nights over the remainder of this year which is totally doable and aligns with actual trips.

No idea. DoC has a lit on his site of what states pull from which report, but it's all user generated so no guarantee of it being accurate. Case in point, my credit is frozen and I didn't want to unfreeze all 3 because I was lazy, so I used what people had told him and unfroze the two on his list for WA. Well I got denied and saw no hard pull, because they wanted the one that I had kept frozen. So now I just unfreeze all of them.

And really, it's just the hard pulls that vary by state, everything else is going to be the same. They will all show which cards you have open, so there's no really anything that one state would help with over the other. I also think covid has made them slightly more hard pull sensitive than they were before, or that box just gets clicked as another reason with the rest.

Thanks again. I should have known if anyone tracked that, it would be DoC. I understand about the reliability of user reported data ... Gas Buddy is that way, although lately, it seems to have gotten better. :thumbsup2

Yes - you have until Dec 31 to get to 50 nights for the 2x Suite Upgrade Certs - those should then be valid for use until Feb 2023.

Just an update on that credit balance sitting on my closed Amex Hilton Biz: I chatted with them this afternoon and the rep told me they'd typically automatically cut the check after three billing cycles- she said she could either cut the check now or just transfer the credit to my other open card (BBP). I took her up on the transfer offer and hopefully that will show up tomorrow.

Thanks all!

I don't suppose there is any way for me to pay the remainder of my car (technically motorcycle) loan, currently with a credit union, off by credit card?

Which Hyatt are you looking at in HI? I think there are some that the suite nights can’t be used at so make sure to check the list.

Hi all. I was wondering if I could get some advice on which card to pick up next. I'm a newbie at this game, really.

I'm at 2/24 with the Disney Premier and Chase Freedom Unlimited. My husband is 1/24 with the CFU after I referred him. I'm planning to PC the Disney card to the free version this year. I want to rack up a lot of points to facilitate travel, and I have some Adventures by Disney trips I'm (trying to, with Covid...) get off the ground, and I'd like my points to facilitate that. I have a trip scheduled for October if it goes through, otherwise next October, but it isn't a priority to use my points if it would be better off later. Right now we have maybe 6-70000 Chase points. I was thinking I would probably sign up for the Freedom Flex -- I want a Sapphire card at some point, but I'm nervous about spending the $4000 in three months. My expenses are about $1440/month but $670 of that doesn't generally get put on a card. I pay the cards in full every month and I could certainly get to $4000 if I made a payment on my ABD trip, but I usually try to pay those through Disney Gift Cards from Target for the 5% back. Any thoughts?

I paid dd’s car off using visa gift cards (cic) converted to money orders.
:scratchin

Interesting! Thanks! Because I was considering another CI card anyway....

THANKS! I suppose I ought to make sure the credit union takes money orders but I don't see why they wouldn't, right? (I have never gotten or used one).

GOOD MORNING!!!!! I just want you all to know how much i have appreciated all of your help over the last few years. I haven't been on that much recently and only you my friends will understand how thankful i am after, i hope, a short recap. lol I believe my last comment was over the summer 2020. well a lot has changed, my wife's grandfather passed in august who lives and California and then unfortunately her uncle passed in September that lives in south carolina. grand pa died of old age 95 and uncle passed 74 with cancer. (miss them both) plus with just everyday life. times are crazy lol. so now i can say thank you for all of the help because if anyone remembers my family was going to Hawaii for 10 days in march 2020 which got canceled. this left us with a ton of hilton, aa, bonvoy, sw points. so we used them not all of them but some. probably not the best use but it really helped front some of the cost for other things. my wife and kids since travel to SC to help with her aunt every few weeks since school is still virtual and i fly down and back to va. this has been the most we have traveled in a long time and scary through a pandemic. i cant say how nice it was to not spend actual money on travel, especially since we are a single income family.

i look forward to collecting more points and hopefully soon be able to take that Hawaii trip. I am here now to ask for help in doing that. i was lucky to have logged into amex during all of my family stuff to find the platicorn from amex. so i took it. the amex plat is my only card i have gotten in over 8 months. my wife did get the chase unlimited during this time mainly for groceries. so i am 1/24 and she is 2/24. as we move forward i don't have an actual plan for what to do. i think obvious Hawaii, or Caribbean and Disney. I think i just need to get motivated and set a goal. i haven't really thought much about a vacation or credit card stuff for a little while. and i miss it lol. life gets in the way sometimes. looking forward to a much needed break. soon .lol

I will go back and try to read the current posts on this thread. WOW version 4.0 very nice. this group, truly is an amazing group of people. I again can not express how grateful i am for everyone here. the time and dedication you all have to help each other is priceless. i should know cause you all have helped me MANY times.

i hope all is doing well and staying safe!!!

Thank you all and looking to some much needed conversations about the credit card world.

Crap, I missed your original post 😞 Amex will ACH credit balances to your bank account on file. Even on closed cards. Chat them and the rep can do it, money usually shows up next day. The odd rep will say no ach, just HUCA.
