DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

So, my weekends now can be most any day of the week. Do I get to request custom princess deflowering or continue to wait for Friday like everyone else?
If you sign up to my tip jar account, im sure that can be arranged. I'd stay away from Aurora though, she sked.me to pick up some penicillin on the way home in the week..

Morning, Gents! Had a great time on the Zoom chat last night, my first in a very long time. I'm going to try and make more of those. So, umm....I broached the subject of the DisDads Convention with the Mrs. last night. She just rolled her eyes, and said, "There's a convention?" She doesn't understand. I said, "Yes, there's a convention, and they have one every year, usually in January." I then let it go. One must work these things in slowly, you know. A lot like cooking lobster, turning the heat up slowly. I'll wear her down, it may not be by next year, but it'll happen at some point.

Well, that's all I've got. Heading to church this morning to make some money, I get paid to sing in churches, though the congregation will be online, I'll be in the building singing. So...money! That's all I've got. Have a good day, gents!

Morning chaps. Not much going on in the mother country, NFL channel is on for Championship Sunday. Need some door handles to finish off the hallway and the downstairs, and then just waiting for the carpet guys, which is in a couple of weeks. I Introduced the boy to Steak and Eggs for breakfast, safe to say he is now a fan. Mark would have approved, there was not a vegetable in sight.

Glad you got on there. I always enjoy catching up with some of the dads, it's just the start time is a killer. All part and parcel of being an international disdad. I don't know how Darrell does it that often, although I think he does night shift work.

Yes, there's a convention, and they have one every year, usually in January."
I'm using the cover of the marathon. I've actually pitched the half marathon, as its the 25th anniversary, which seemed to pass the hurdle of acceptability, so I have approval. And plus I can run a half marathon hung over. I have a voucher for the cancelled flight this year, and I'll use points, so if Mickey re-introduces non-renewal APs, that trip would effectively be gratis. Apart from trying to keep up with the Chief in rum. Which I would imagine can be quite damaging to one's bank account.

Hopefully catch up with youse guys on the book of face at game time.
Have a morally fulfilling, community enriching, and all round good guy day today.
Failing that, just relax in the Lazy Boy with a Frosty one and watch football all day whilst eating cheetos.

Enjoyed a nice, relaxing day yesterday. Went for a drive away and then looked around Cabellas for supplies. It's my type of candy store with guns, knives, tents, etc.

Congrats on the job offer, my friend! And golf shirts...nice! Although with me working from home it's jeans and t-****s for me. Once the office opens back up I'll most likely be in button downs. Flexibility in work is a good thing...that's great.

I would have worn the scrubs if they had wanted me to, but golf shirts aren't bad. We have the one store in town that has them embroidered with the logo.

Congrats!

Happy that it worked out so well for you. :)

Thanks. Time will tell.

Except (at least here, I haven't watched everywhere else) it worked. Our numbers quadrupled (at least) when restrictions were (mostly) removed. When restrictions were put in place, the numbers came down again.
I know you're kidding about Covid being smart to avoid sections, but the science does work. You're just looking at it wrong.

What am I looking at wrong?

I don't have an issue with physical distancing. We have anecdotal, historical evidence that was effective. There is science around medical grade masks. Quarentine for the sick also makes sense, but we haven't considered what we are doing for their caretakers. As for what is "working", the answer has to consider a number of factors including geography, population density, and overall health of a population. It's difficult to isolate for all the variables and to determine which one or combination are working.

Here is the science I question, and if you can show me links to scientific articles, then I'm happy to view them.

Shopping in any big-box store for non-essential items spread COVID but those who stayed on grocery side were healthy.

COVID spreads at some protest events but doesn't spread at other protest events. It depends on what you are protesting.

Close High Schools while permitting travel for HS football games.

Wearing the mask into a restaurant is required, but once you sit down, is no longer needed.

Sporting events and big box stores are safe. Churches and schools are not safe.

Individuals can't get together for the holidays vs individuals can get together to shop or work.

Then there are the obvious ones.

Pelosi can get her hair done in a salon while the peasants can't.

Dr. Birx can have Thanksgiving dinner with her family at one of her 3 houses while the peasants can't.

Peasants must wear masks while politicians and their families/ strangers are exempt for photo opportunities.

Let's return to actual science.
There was an actual scientific article that measured moisture particles that made it thru the different masks. It determined that bandannas and buffs/ neck gaiters produced more saliva/ mositure and thus were worse than no mask at all. The next day, without additional experimentation or data, they changed their conclusion. Why? Did they determined the virus wasn't spread from saliva/ moisture particles emited from the mouth? Had they wanted to make a conclusion that their findings were only limited to the brands or material blend or limited # of people studied, then that might be believable.

If you sign up to my tip jar account, im sure that can be arranged. I'd stay away from Aurora though, she sked.me to pick up some penicillin on the way home in the week..

Well, it seems both of you have been naughty 007. Or, Mi6 has stopped providing....protection.

Enjoy the singing gig and the extra $. I'm still 2 years out on ddcc with my youngest in school. And then, it would depend on if DW wants to travel to WDW then.

Because obviously, we do not have any Smarties down here...
That's truth...on many levels.

What's happening to America is the same as putting a lobster in a pot of water and slowly turning up the heat.
See above

In the end, this one made the most sense. Not just the $, but I still get the time off & flexibility to travel for hopefully the next decade.
Congrats!!!

I fear the plan is to make the national debt so unsustainable that we just implode. I won't be leaving my house to make it to jail. If it comes to that, then they can have my bullets. They will just be travelling really fast.
My fear also and glad I have plenty of ammo.

Hope all are enjoying the weekend with family and getting to watch some football today.

Happy Saturday. The hospital called yesterday with an offer that exceeded my expectations. The negotiations were over quickly. So, I start back to work Feb 1. My uniform is golf shirts, and I need to go shopping with the clothing voucher they sent. I have to call Monday and get my vaccine and last work exam records faxed over, and on Tuesday, go to be fitted for my N95 mask, drug test, etc.

In the end, this one made the most sense. Not just the $, but I still get the time off & flexibility to travel for hopefully the next decade.
Congrats on the new job.

Afternoon All,

Been a quite day, wasn't feeling the best after last night's chat so I took it easy. I did managed to get in a run on our new treadmill though. We picked it up yesterday after making two trips to the store to get it. First one was aborted because the box was about an inch and a half longer than the storage area in the CR-V so a trip to in in-laws was required to get their van. About 3 hours to get it together yesterday and rearranging the family room and we are ready to run.

Off to watch some football, picking GB and KC.

Glad you made it, it was good talking to you in real time.

I love steak and eggs for breakfast but only when someone else makes them.

Wish we could get those Zoom calls started earlier but they just don't seem to work earlier. Most weeks you could jump in when you get up though, especially when George is your alarm. ;)

Afternoon, gents.
Anyone watch the UFC fight last night? I know the result, but was at work (and wouldn't pay the $$ to watch anyway.)
Was wondering how the main event looked.

It's my type of candy store with guns, knives, tents, etc.
And candy too!
At least ours has some, and fudge, too. Hello!
What am I looking at wrong?
I won't quote everything you posted as much of it is political (in the sense that it's happening in your country, specifically).

The point I was trying to make is you stated that the virus was smart enough to avoid essential items, or something like that (not feeling like going back and quoting). I said you were looking at that wrong. I made no mention of Pelosi or Birx (I don't even know who that is) or most of what you commented on. (And all of it was interesting! Thanks for writing all that.)

When you limit shoppers to only buying essential items in a store, you are reducing the number of people shopping in the store. Which automatically increases social distancing and decreases the number of opportunities for contact transmission.
What I'm saying is if 3 people need to go to Walmart; 1 for apples, 1 for a toaster, 1 for shoes... then 2 out of the 3 people are staying home. Also, if all three are shopping for all three items, you are reducing the amount of time all three spend in the store.

Hoping that made sense? (I'm still a little groggy after my midnight shift.)

Morning, Gents! Hope everyone had a good weekend. Had a good church gig Sunday and earned some Disney World money from it, so there's a plus. Got more organizing done around the house this weekend, and, well, not much else. Caught one of the Star Wars marathon on this weekend on TV, one both Saturday and Sunday, and while I didn't force the family to watch it Saturday, I did put it on Sunday.

That would be what, 3am? That would be really late for you...or early, depending how you look at it. Don't blame you for not wanting to make it.

That's a good way to do it. You: "Honey? I'm going to run the Disney Marathon." Wife: "Isn't the same time as the DDCC?" You: "Is it? I didn't know." :lmao:

Golf ****s are great, man. That's awesome they let you do that.

Maybe it's that the caffeine hasn't worked it's way through my system yet, but I'm not seeing where you want me to go for this one. Sorry.

A new treadmill....nice! We bought a new one last year during the whole COVID thing and the Mrs. uses it all the time. I've used it, though not as much. Enjoy your new treadmill.

Glad you made it, it was good talking to you in real time.

So am I, and I'm going to try and make it more often. It was good being able to talk with you in real time as well.

Wish we could get those Zoom calls started earlier but they just don't seem to work earlier. Most weeks you could jump in when you get up though, especially when George is your alarm. ;)

Too bad the earlier ones didn't work out.

Morning folks.
Saturday for me today. Glad I'm up at 6am. Ah well.
Had a good church gig Sunday and earned some Disney World money from it,
Nice.
That's a good way to do it. You: "Honey? I'm going to run the Disney Marathon." Wife: "Isn't the same time as the DDCC?" You: "Is it? I didn't know." :lmao:

Did catch the highlights of the two NFL games. Looked like good games. Soooo... who's happy and who's not?

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm? :teeth:

All my church gig money goes into my vacation account, minus what I pay to the government for taxes, of course.

:teeth:

My team wasn't in it, so I don't care. I'll watch the big game for the commercials and the halftime show.

Oh, just a smidge.

Yeah, I thought I saw it spreading across the floor. :lmao:

I have to save up somehow.

I didn't have a horse in the race either. I'm rooting for whoever my friends are rooting for.

A lot of people around here still Love Brady, and were rooting for him, but for me I could careless. He left the Patriots, and therefore someone I root for.

The start time is around 2am for me, so by the time you've had a decent chinwag it ends up being a 4am bedtime. That would be fine if I had the opportunity to sleep in until 10 or 1030, but the kids invariably wake me up. I'll try to get up earlier and get on, but I keep thinking I will be the guy who turns up right at the end of the party and everyone else is hammered. I get on once every few months. Like I say, it is what it is. Not grousing at all, I'm part of an American (in terms of continents, stand down Canadians) group, I wouldn't dream about b!tch!ng about time zones.
That's a good way to do it. You: "Honey? I'm going to run the Disney Marathon." Wife: "Isn't the same time as the DDCC?" You: "Is it? I didn't know." :lmao:
The good Lady K is a learned woman about a great many things, the scheduling of DDCCs is not one of them, and I am happy not to assuage her knowledge bank of that particular piece of trivia. I would pass it off as an added bonus rather than a reason to attend. Once flights have been booked and rooms secured.

Soooo... who's happy and who's not?
As a Bears fan, but also as a Brit NFL fan, as I said on the chat last night, rooting for Brady was like deciding whether to cut your right or left hand off. Darcy to be fair took that particular analogy and somewhat unsurprisingly, sent it off into Friday Night territory. I couldn't root for the Packers. So, I am mildly pleased the Bucs won.
I really feel sorry for one of my mates, he is a big Tampa fan, so would have had the opportunity to be in Tampa whilst Tampa are in the Superbowl. But he obviously can't get out there. In true British friend style I have been sending him flight offers for Tampa all morning, as there are still flights. With friends like me.....

Yeah, I thought I saw it spreading across the floor.
:rolleyes1

Very subtle.

Morning All. Bit of a chilly day here but the sun is shinning so that's good.

Bit of a PITA this morning on the way to work. Stopped at the grocery store to pick up some coffee for the office and the car wouldn't start when I came out. Luckily I wasn't far from the office and had someone give me a boost so all was good.

Have a great Monday all!

I have no idea what you are talking about.

I think this is my last Monday off awhile. They mentioned a lot of training, so I'll get my schedule next week.

Congrats!!!

Thanks.

My fear also and glad I have plenty of ammo.

::yes:: I was hopeful there could be some positive changes, but it doesn't look like it. In my opinion, the greatest threat to our country is the national debt, which has just continued to increase since Bill Clinton, so it's not a party issue. This new administration hasn't indicated they will stop spending.

Congrats on the new job.

Thanks. Have you started your new job?

I won't quote everything you posted as much of it is political (in the sense that it's happening in your country, specifically).

Yes, we agree that these decisions are political and not science based. We both agreed that physical distancing appears to be the most effective. If 1 out of 3 can go safely to Walmart, then 1 out of 3 can safely go to churches, other businesses, schools, etc. I understand your point that if the "non-essential" stores are closed, then people won't go there and have contacts. The unintended consequence was that more people congregated to the stores that were open, closed schools sent children to homes of their friends and extended family members. And, before we call them selfish or uncaring for doing so, some of the people who lost their jobs had to make those additional contacts for food or other assistance. People still had to go to work and couldn't leave children home by themselves. That may have reduced the amount of multiple store contacts, but may have increased the number of repeated contacts.

I give them a pass on early decisions when someone predicted over 2 million deaths in our country alone. It was fear based, and it worked. But later, it became about government control.

Did catch the highlights of the two NFL games. Looked like good games. Soooo... who's happy and who's not?

I'm glad that Brady went to the Superbowl without Bellicheat and that greatest coach carp is settled.

All my church gig money goes into my vacation account, minus what I pay to the government for taxes, of course.

Good for you. My money just goes to DW, and whatever account she wants to spend with. :lmao:
