Packing our bags for our Thursday arrival. The excitement is kicking in

Hi Everyone! We checked in yesterday for our very first GF stay! We are having the best time already!!

We are in Big Pine Key Garden view room and we saw fireworks last night from our room. MK was testing them late last night.

However, the biggest surprise was the size of our room. I am not sure what the area is called, but our room has an extended area with lots of windows, it’s circular, and has a couch and tv. I’m pretty sure it’s not the room I paid for, but it’s so cool!
Decided to decorate the area for Christmas and display a mini tree and decorations out the windows. Does anyone know the name of these rooms?

It was referred to as a Deluxe room, now its referred to as a Turret room. We had it in October, I used to book it all the time. They said their not doing that anymore its going to be something you can try to request or get surprised as you did.

Ok, so it did use to be a bookable category, right? I had in my head that they were bookable in the outer buildings, except at SL, where it was by request only.

Thanks everyone! Such a neat room. We decided we need to make it our Christmas room so we are putting up lights, our stockings, and our mini tree in the windows for all to see. Wow, can’t believe we got this room. So nice for a family of 5 to have so much space, and two TVs!!

Yes I booked it whenever I could. It was actually slightly more expensive than a garden view. So when we received it in October I went to the front desk to ask how to book it. You can put a request in like any other, it might work out might not or just get it in the luck of the draw.

Thanks everyone! Such a neat room. We decided we need to make it our Christmas room so we are putting up lights, our stockings, and our mini tree in the windows for all to see. Wow, can’t believe we got this room. So nice for a family of 5 to have so much space, and two TVs!!

Even for a family of 4. My kids are 23 and 26, it was great at night they hung out over there and watched tv. More storage here and there with the tv stand and coffee table. Most have balconies but there are a few that don't have one, I got that once and hated it. In the summer keep in mind, there are much darker rooms without the slider.

We just booked the grand Floridian for feb 17-21!! It is for a conference so it says garden view room! This is my DREAM resort and I can’t believe I actually get to stay here

FYI conferences usually get put in Sago. So learn what you can about that building. It has nice view or mono or marina!

Thanks for this info...depending on what happens with CL by next May, we will likely extend our GF half of the split stay to a week and switch to an outer building non CL. Even though it's just 2 of us I'm hoping we would get lucky and get pixie dust since it'll be my birthday, lol.

Any refurb rumors for the main hotel rooms (not villas)? We had to cancel two RPC trips this year and will likely not feel comfortable going until the end of next year, but I have the planning bug! We thought the rooms looked tired in 2018. I am hoping now that Poly is getting a refurb, GF will follow!

Poly was 2013 complete last time. GF was 2014 so hopefully soon!

Does anyone know how far from the Grand Floridian one can walk along the new MK path after the path is officially "closed". Is there a "closing gate" near the Grand Floridian or can one walk "most" of the path towards MK and then turn around and return -- just to take a stroll late evening?

I had Big Pine Key in October. It has a lovely view of Poly and the wedding pavilion. What is nice however is that it is right in between both pools. That is handy with kids!

Just booked 12/31-1/3. Had a crappy year with NY shutting down our business most of the year. Even still we only at 50% and that will be for a long time I fear.

Free airfare with JB points and an actual good discount for a holiday weekend thanks to Disney Chase Visa is making this happen.

Oh ya we had 44 inches of snow last week. We still digging out

It’s just me and dh this trip! Going to try the walkway and have drinks in Enchanted Rose to bring in 2021! Hope it is a great year!
