Worst movie ever?

Worst movie ever...

Loose Shoes featuring Bill Murray. Not his best work by far.

Worse, I saw it in 1980 in the theatre. I kept hoping it would get better. It didn't. But by the end, they were doing the skit with the theme song. I can't unhear or forget that theme song. Google it at your own risk. I'd post here, but it's rather on the vulgar side and would surely be banned.

There are a lot of bad movies I love and a lot of great movies I hate but none I've disliked more than The Lighthouse.

Open Water (scuba divers accidentally left behind....)
I thought this one got decent reviews for the acting at least? There have been a few horror movies with similar plots since - couple stuck on a chairlift at a ski resort overnight and one that includes a lady stuck in a pool under a cover (maybe that was just a plot device and not the whole premise).

I did a search but didn't find this topic - could be a good one. I regularly listen to the "How Did This Get Made" podcast and have discovered some real doozies there. My candidate is TECHNICALLY a Holiday special - EASILY the worst holiday special ever, but at close to 2 hours running time with commercials (1:37 without) - it's a movie. Settle in with your favorite beverage; I submit to you, the Star Wars Holiday Special;
This thing is so cringy! Bad costumes, cheesy "video calls", a dopey Eco-centric "Life Day" celebration, and who can forget the Wookie porn? Free to view in its entirety on YouTube. Enjoy!
It's even got Bea Arthur. Sarcasm aside, the best part is the animated segment with Boba Fett.

The little wookie's name is Lumpy...could this be the inspiration for your username? Perhaps you're more of a fan than you know!

I submit Godfather III. It isn't just bad but how bad it is gets highlighted by how good the first two are. It isn't just a terrible movie, it is a terrible sequel to two of the best movies ever made in my opinion.
Original theatrical release is pretty bad. However, the new director's cut was recently released, and many say it redeems the film.

I mean, you've gotta respect anything with the great Bea Arthur in it!

The thing about the Star Wars Holiday Special is that, while it is indeed bad, very, very bad, the amount of joy it brings by it's existence is immeasurable. What a treasure it is to be able to see something so spectacularly insane. Actually, as I often have to remind younger fans, that wasn't even the craziest thing on TV that night! 70's TV was...interesting. I'm actually not quitre old enough to remember, but a lot of that stuff was still around in the early 80's.

The other interesting about the Holiday Special is that it did make contributions to canon. The Mandalorian's disruptor rifle with the forked end comes from there. Also, while they say it wrong, the name of the Wookiee Homeworld is mentioned - they say "Kazook" but Lucas wrote Kashyyk.
The version with the original commercials is interesting too. The Rifftrax commentary for that version is worth it too. I believe much if not all of it is on YouTube, I have not checked recently.

My friend recently had a copy with commercials and it advertised other shows on the network. Like I said, as weird as the Star Wars Holiday Special is, it was pretty much the norm for 70's TV, especially a holiday special. It was only missing Paul Lynde or Tim Conway. Hey, it did have Harvey Korman! I mean, yeah, it's bad, but in such a good way!

My least favorite movie of all time is "The Mosquito Coast". Aside from Harrison Ford not portraying Han or Indy, a travesty unto itself, this movie pre-dated therapy animals so we needed to deal with movie depression the old fashion way... Ben and Jerry's.

Most boring movie ever made.

(But also side note, based on the "likes" for this post I quoted I have to ask: Skywalker 2, where are you? )

One of the worst big studio films I've seen was Ecks Vs Sever, with Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu. Action? Adventure? It's about as fun as watching a turtle learn how to use Microsoft Excel.

Movies like Plan 9 From Outer Space or The Room are usually mentioned as "the worst", but those are enjoyable in the sense that you're watching an unintentionally funny trainwreck.

There are some bad movies that are just unwatchable, and typically they're modern direct-to-video horror films, like Dead Clowns to name just one. Friends, I've even seen budgets so low that there exists zombie films where the zombies have no makeup FX whatsoever. These movies make The Gingerdead Man starring Gary Busey look like dignified filmmaking.

I always get this one mixed up with The Village, I remember seeing it in the theatre and being so pissed at the ending. These are both by M. Night Shyamalan though.
His alien movie was promising if not for the ending. Aliens intelligent enough to travel through space, and they invade a planet made up mostly of water, which is somehow deadly to them?
C'mon, M Night Shamalamadingdong!
