So I may not have gotten my xbox pre-order, but I may get 3% back from RMN for the $250 of xbox gift cards I bought on Tuesday. Got my email that I have $6.75 pending.

I wonder if pre order stuff like this is something the amex concierge could help with for those with a plat or if they'd be stuck in the same spot as others. I've read about them getting sold out stuff before but it was shoes or handbags so not the same.

Also realize that it means your stuck paying with your plat if you went this route which isn't always good.

So, here is a total noob WDW question for you that I am too scared to post over on the other boards.

Is there no way to WALK from Caribbean Beach Resort to Hollywood Studios? I can only get Maps to give me a driving path, but as the crow (or Skyliner) flies, it looks like a straight shot and a very reasonable distance. I'm reading all the reports of people trying to get to HS in time for a ROTR boarding group and I am just thinking how much easier it would be (less hassle waiting for the Skyliner or trying to get an Uber but not too early so that they turn you away) and it really seems like I'd just like to walk. Guessing that's a no-go?
I have not done this myself, but from another site (as I posted before) someone said they were going to try it and they reported back yesterday that it worked.
Here's what they said:
"The walking worked guys!! We walked from Aruba across the grass and crossed the road twice just like I said. Then we hoofed it on the grass for awhile. It worked really well but since it was early the grass was wet and the Kids' sneakers got wet. Our
leather sneakers were fine though. I would say this path for a more adventurous crew but we loved it for being in control of our own destiny vs at the mercy of a late bus or SL. It really wasn't that bad!

Probably 20 min. I would do it again for sure, but yes, a little hardcore :). We only get to come any every two years so we take advantage of every minute!

Hope this helps in your planning @ten6mom

I've discovered a few things this year.....
1) I'm extremely risk averse,DH is even more so. No travel outside local daytrip stuff.
2) DH will try to avoid taking ANY time off work unless I force him (aka vacation) which I haven't been able to do since last February (see #1) (so glad we took that short NYC weekend when we did)
3) I will still find ways to spend my points (thanks CSR PYB feature) to treat myself in various ways b/c of #1 ( :rotfl2: )
So My travel expenses this year are tiny, but I'm making up for it in other wonderful little ways that make life sweet (b/c what else can I do?) I have a new infrared sauna :-)love:) a new kitten, a fully stocked pantry and freezer,a generator (finally) and tons of wonderful memories with our daytrips together, along with (oh so careful) time with fam and selected friends.... It's actually been a great summer. And various jobs around the house that got finished this year.
:moped: Do I miss traveling to different places? YES. DO I miss my family who lives 1500 miles away? YES. I can't wait to go visit them again. And I can't wait to go visit some beloved travel destinations again.
But in the meanwhile,I'm not gonna complain (too much)
Also no travel here, including day trips. Only exception was 1 night camping at a state park 1.5 hrs away.
We're being forced to use PTO for at least one day a pay period, so I'm using vacation time even if I'm not going anywhere.
I did use 80k points for PYB and used the $1000 for down payment on a new car.
I miss vacationing but am in no hurry to go anywhere. I'm hoping for next June, but who knows.

Excited about these Amex hotel offers! Hopefully I’ll get to use the Marriott one for our FL trip in Nov. Also saw a couple different Hilton ones, MGM, Waldorf.

There’s a DoorDash $10 off $30 (x2) offer too (Chase DashPass won’t work since charge goes on Amex)
I may use my Amex since DoorDash said my DashPass subscription was canceled because I pc'd CF to Flex

I'd accumulate more if I knew where dd was going to college. If she's an hour away, I can't imagine staying overnight. But three hours and I'd probably be using Marriott more.

I still have the 50,000 point certificate and no clue what to do with it. Thought about using it to visit Charlottesville and stay at the Draftsman, but it seems so silly to stay overnight an hour from my home. I just really have no interest in traveling right now.

Is UVA doing in person classes right now? Charlottesville sounds like a nice quiet trip if classes are online. I still have my 50K also - good until end of January. I've also thought of doing Williamsburg Lodge (35K) as a short trip - 3 hours for me.

The students are on campus. I believe there are some in person classes. The weather looks pretty nice on Sunday so I think we'll head west:) Just wish I knew what to show DD. The campus/dorms are so different from when I was there in the mid 90s. She's headed to Blacksburg the following weekend with her dad. I really wish they had tours but completely understand why it's not possible.

Well, I'm no help. I visited mid eighties and also went to Monticello back then. So, it would be an adventure for us.

Guess it's time I sliced up that big bowl of lemons on my counter.

It's so pretty and I still enjoy visiting Monticello. It's sort of funny because I hated it when I was there:) Charlottesville is a lot different now though.

So, I turned off my water to fix an outdoor hosebib/spigot.

And, when I turned it back on, suddenly an upstairs bathroom had water on the floor. Not a lot, but enough for concern. Looks like the return pressure caused a leak at the base of the toilet. Or maybe it was there. Very minute once the initial spray was dried up. But, now a plumber is needed for the wax ring - too heavy and awkward a job. So far I've called 4 companies and got the 'leave a message' and we will call back. 6 and 1/2 hours - no calls.

Turned off the valve to the toilet so the water won't continue and cause damage. And, talked to a friend whose husband might want to do the job for a bit of cash. I've got some time since I've turned it off, but don't want to leave it more than a day or two.

I remember it being really pastoral and green, rolling countryside with the white stick fences. I'm sure my memory of how it was is a thing of the past.

Ugh. I had to have my kitchen/family room ceiling repaired and painted because of a failed wax ring. I hope you can find someone soon.

I found it quickly and actually knew what I was looking at because a main floor toilet ring failed last fall. It dripped into my basement for awhile before I figured it out as I can go a week without going in my basement. So, valve to the tank is off and I dried it out as much as possible so I think I'm good for a bit. Just need it done so we can use that toilet if we want to.

Great news! Just used my Amex offer! Daughter had to go to Fairfax, Va today to pick up computer stuff.

So, Cheesecake factory is running a special for lunch. 30 different entrees for $15 each plus a slice of cheesecake. Using the gold credit made it $5 plus tax and tip. This ends tomorrow 9/25 at 3pm, but just in case someone can use the offer.
