Another question on applying for a P2 for the CSP...

If I want to be an AU, would P2 put my name down somewhere during the application process, or is that something that only happens afterwards?

Is there anything else I should know/do before having him apply? I plan to do most of the spending on it so I want to make sure I have a card in my name.

Nobody seems to look at whose card it is anymore. I keep two cards in my wallet that belong to DD, who actually has a different last name than me. I just use them whenever wherever.

I hand her one of my cards to go pick up food all the time. (I don't always pay - we pretty much alternate.) Sometimes it's paid online, so really easy.

If I need something at Costco and DD agrees to go, she takes my Citi credit card with membership info and picture on it and goes. Now on this she once went to a different Costco and they told her not to do it next time - but let her shop and pay with my card on that occasion.

Somehow I doubt you would have any problem using a card in your husband's name. And as someone suggested, you can always ask online for a replacement for a damaged card to get a second.

I've added up our vacation expenditure for the year, estimate our expenses on the 2 trips we have planned and added up our credit card fee. We're on track to spend $13,000 in travel this year. I guess 2020 hasn't been that bad.

I did the same math a few weeks ago and had a similar feeling... those "short, local getaways" add up faster than I expected! I've also found it's much more stressful to deal with PTO when it's several small chunks of time versus a couple of large time blocks. oh 2021... please bring international travel back to us!!

I have an Amex offer for $60 back on $250 Hilton Hotels, Curio Collection & Canopy. Anyone with experience with this offer?

It says it excludes a long list of hotels, including Home2 Suites. I know some offers actually do apply to exclusions so I'm wondering about this one. I have a Home2 stay I have to pay cash for, booked as group rate. I used my CSR to book I think (maybe Surpass, can't remember now), assuming I can switch cards at check in, any chance this offer would apply? It's available for my Gold card.

I received 5 Hilton offers, including one for Embassy, Homewood and and Home2 Suites. Is there any chance you have the Home2 offer and overlooked it - it starts with Embassy.

Since I believe these offers are manually approved for the cash back - yeah, maybe I'm crazy on that - it would probably depend on whoever looks at it. And if not 'looked at' then there is probably some sort of trigger for each offer.

I allocate 10K cash per year for travel (for me) and since I went away in Jan, Feb, and March plus a few days in July, I've spent some of that. Still have plenty left, and will use a bit this fall, $500 here or there for a couple of 2-3 day beach visits. If I go alone, much cheaper but will probably take grands and older DD - much easier to get rid of money with them around.

I would say that $5,000 of it is just food, $2K is credit fees. We usually try to keep it at $10k for the year too, but our Christmas trip is skiing with friends so that will all have to be cash. it pains me to pay cash for travel.

A good part of mine is DVC dues, annual fees, food, gas, souvenirs for the girls, plus the times when I pay cash for rooms.

My costs jump when the girls and DD come - anywhere. My Disney trips are pretty inexpensive otherwise. So far the girls haven't needed tickets. That has changed, but they haven't been since, as I didn't take them in Jan or Feb.

Anyway, since I've proven to myself that I can live comfortably in retirement, vacation is not something I have to skimp on, so I'm going to enjoy it as much as possible in my remaining years, just very carefully for the next year complete with hand sanitizer, masks and Lysol.

I have a completely unrelated question. I am about 10 years out of retirement and I am having a hard time figuring out how much DH and I will need to live "comfortably. " I have tried various calculators and at the end of the day I'm still confused. Some show me doing just fine, others say I should save more. I don't need to be rich (and I won't be), I just want to know the size of nest egg peopke feel they'll need to be "comfortable. "

I have no MSR right now and I’m about to buy a whole new set of tires for my Odyssey. I can’t decide which card to use. I’ve given up on reaching $15k on my HHbiz for this year. Probably will use a 2% card. We have BBP, arrival+, and cap1venture. Any thoughts on this important decision?

I'm further out from retirement than you are, but this is totally me. Sometimes I play with them and think I'm going to be very comfortable and other times I think I'm going to be destitute and eating store brand ice cream. It's hard to figure out what to assume for social security.

Credit cards driving me crazy today.

Son's CCV rubbed off his Amex so he tried to use my NFCU that he's AU on and it was declined. We just got new cards and all are activated, the card has $0 balance. I did a $1 Amazon charge with no problem on mine (also AU), so that narrows it down to his being deployed being the issue. I had him go in to put travel note on the card and he got an error. SM'd NFCU, but who knows how long that will take. He probably should request a new Amex from them, but that's going to take them sending to me then me forwarding to him.

He tried to use privacy.com to generate a one time use card and he can't get that verified. I'm thinking either his out of country IP or the VPN he uses is flagging it either on the Privacy end or the NFCU end. I generated a number for him from my acct and he can't use it for this purchase because card details must match purchaser details.

Short of buying a virtual Visa/MC debit, any ideas? He's trying to make an online purchase. I think he's out of luck until we get NFCU card sorted.

After typing all of this out, I bet his NFCU issues are VPN use related. So many things he can't access while out of country. I need to pay his toll bill today because he can't access the site.

How did the 4 digit number rub off on the front of an amex? He knows to use that number and not the 3 digit on the back right?
