Tell me about seniors and rides

So here's the TL/DR background summary. Went to WDW a couple of times as a kid, got re-introduced to it in 2015 and my husband and I are hooked.

Feeling V. sorry for ourselves because, at our current age of 45, we feel like we got a late start on thrill rides ;), and C-19 is ripping us off of at least 2 WDW trips at this rate (we're Canadian, cross-border travel not an option), and we're afraid we'll be "too old" before we've gotten our fill.

Tell me about the eldest friend/family member you have who still enjoys the more intense rides like RNR/ToT etc...

My mom, who will be 70 next month, still enjoys most of the thrill rides, although she's not up for repeat rides anymore. She usually rides Slinky Dog Dash, Star Tours (which often makes me motion sick), Mine Train, Big Thunder Mt, Space Mt, and Everest once each per trip. She'd ride Flights of Passage all day if you let her. ToT is hit or miss for her, but she'll usually ride if the line is short and her stomach isn't bothering her. She hasn't gone on RnR in several years, and neither have I, since it's not too smooth and our heads tend to bounce around a bit and our ears hit the shoulder restraints.

52 here and still ride it all!

That isn't old!

I've lost both of my parents, but my mom loved Splash Mountain and rode it into her 70s. My dad passed away at 83, 10 days after his last trip to WDW. I wasn't with him, but quite certain he made it on to Space Mountain and ToT on that trip. They usually visited WDW at least once a year, often times twice.

Hubby and I are older than Mark according to the calendar, but teenagers at heart. Hubby never has been a ToT fan, but he'll get on everything else with me. We have a teen we ocassionally bring with us, but have AP and just the two of us go quite often.

2Lunds - you are only 45!!! You have years of thrill rides ahead of you!!!!

I'm a little older than you - and for me - it's about the amount of bumping around a ride has that effects me due to age. I was on a relatively mild coaster at a different park - and it was such a rough ride - my body hated it. I dislike Space Mountain since I've gotten older, too, for the same reason. But there can be bigger drops, more speed, bigger thrills - that aren't as impactful on the body.

I'm almost 65 and go on everything! I love FoP, Expedition Everest, ToT, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, ride them all multiple times if possible. I do have to space out my trips on Space Mountain, rather than do them back to back to back like I did when I was younger (and the parks less crowded!) I also refuse to go on Tea Cups with anyone who is old enough to be able to spin the wheel themselves :-)crazy2: - me after a Tea Cups-like ride with my preteen son at Great America!).

My dad just turned 77.
He still loves RNRC, TOT, and the rest.
Not sure what else you want to know lol.
I would consider RNRC to be a "benchmark" for whether you can still enjoy intense rides - so this is helpful, thanks :) I really want to be able to experience Tron, and Guardians, as well as the existing more intense rides for as long as possible - just getting a feel for how old might be "too old" (taking everyone's individual fitness level and ageing experience into account of course )

That's actually a really great point you made about the roughness of the ride - I would consider 7DMT to be more intense than BTMRR, but the roughness of the track makes it much harder on the body.

My mom is 65 and the only thing stopping her from riding some of the more intense thrill rides is her bad back from an injury over 25 years ago. There are some she skips due to motion sickness, but that's not an age thing either. Even with her back, the only things she absolutely can't do are RNR, Space Mountain, Test Track, Dinosaur, and Everest. Even Everest might be okay but she hasn't tried it yet.

My parents are 77 and TOT is their favorite ride. The love FOP, Splash, Test Track. They don't do Space Mtn or Everest any more, but they never have been fans of those 2.

I turn 52 tomorrow and I have to say Dinosaur has been rough on me for several years now...

The only ride my 72-year-old mother doesn't ride is Space Mountain. And that's more to do with bad knees and her difficulty getting out of the ride vehicle. She enjoyed Tower of Terror for the first time on our last trip, loves Mine Train and Slinky Dog and Everest and Test Track. Would spend all day on FOP if she could.

For her, it's more about the ease of getting in and out of the ride vehicles. Oh, the boat ride in Mexico...she won't ride that one anymore. Again, she just felt too unsteady getting in and out the last time we rode.

Oh, Dinosaur, too. But that's not age related...that's whiplash related. LOL

63 here and for me it it also the ones that are challenging to get in out and out - SM and RnR.
