Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Exactly. I’m not assuming anything at this point, but the lack of housekeeping makes me think they’re not opening.
Housekeeping is a contracted service, the house keepers sometimes move resorts and aren’t really assigned to individual resorts.Disney might not be calling them back the service company may just do a massive call back for them.

Well with today's news I guess we won't be upgraded to the Grand Floridian after all lol,but so GROOVY to get confirmation that POP will be one of the opening Resorts!

Can't wait!
Not confirmed that I’ve heard of.
The cast mates from pop have been called back to work, but none knows if pop is opening or if they will be stationed at other resorts.
You’re right, No guarantee that the Pop Staff will be stationed at Pop.

Better to wait until an official announcement is made before announcing here that Pop is opening and so far that hasn’t happened.

The water park life guards have also been called back but the only water park announcement made today was that the H2O Glow Nights have been cancelled.

CMs are not necessarily initially returning to the jobs they left.

Can anyone confirm the report that POP is opening for NBA staff(and if so will it be all 10 buildings)?

Grand Floridian is back in play for us(maybe!)lol :)

Also we are scheduled at POP July 11-17.

Could they open POP on July 11 and let "regular" Guests stay there until the NBA arrives?

Thanks.

This has not formally been announced so nobody really knows.

Pop still does not have an official opening date announced so any information provided is purely speculation at this time.

Also, IF the NBA staff are staying there and IF the resort is open, I can't see why they couldn't both be there at the same time? Pop has almost 3000 rooms so the NBA staff would not need all rooms. Also, there is no indication (that I'm aware of) that guests currently booked at the Grand Floridian or any of the other resorts where NBA players are being housed, have been moved because the players are there. Does anyone have any reliable sources that says differently?

I had heard originally that the NBA resorts would be strictly for them- to keep them in their own Covid-free bubble. But that might have been hearsay.

I am really wondering when the resort will open as well. I got an email from my TA today saying that she needed to know by Monday if we were going to go or not because she had to book a different resort if we were going. We are supposed to be at Pop Century starting August 27. I thought they would be open by then for sure! Maybe it is just a generalized email to all of her clients? Since I answered her I have not heard anything.

I would leave it as is, if going. Because if you change it, you will be charged the upgrade. If Disney moves you, it's a complimentary upgrade.

I am definitely leaving it as it is. If they will give me a refund on the tickets that I don’t need anymore because they took my free dining away I will take that unless they want me to pay the upgrade. If they want me to pay the upgrade because of those tickets I will just eat the tickets. Thanks!

Just want to let you all know I booked an August stay at the Dolphin through Priceline for only $100 more for 8 days than my stay at Pop. Would’ve been $100 LESS than Pop had I chosen no view. And while there’s no skyliner, you can walk to HS and Epcot. Just something to consider!

Curious as we always stay at Pop, is Disney’s Magical Express included with Swan/Dolphin reservations? We fly so if not this would be another cost to consider.

We are scheduled to check in at Pop on July 12th. Not heard anything from Disney about asking us to upgrade or complimentary upgrade. Checking My Disney Experience app every day to see if hotel changes but nothing yet. Considering it is only 3 weeks away they will be needing to make some decisions soon. Haven't booked our flight yet.

Same here except we are July 11 and we HAVE flights.

We either get a comp upgrade or we will cancel-just doesn't "feel" right if Disney asks us to pay the upgrade to Deluxe.

Still holding out a "very little" hope that POP will open!:)

I am thinking they will open and thats why we booked that resort in the first place. Large value resort with the skyliner as alternative transportation, won't need to use as many buses. People who were at all stars could be transferred there easily without upgrading. Plus they called back the Food union folks for POP, so I am going to keep my hopes up!

We are scheduled for Pop August 15-20. I’m wondering if they are holding off until Monday to see if more people will cancel with the whole park reservation system??? I feel so bad for you folks that are going in a few weeks. I mean, being at Disney is great and all, but a little communication on where you’ll be staying would be nice!

I know. Our original plans were California and Disneyland for our sons graduation from High School but of course that got scrapped. We are just trying to pull something together for him, something good to look forward to after all this chaos. My next fear is that the reservation system on Monday of course will crash. They should have set it up that you can only reserve up to a certain date. Those of us trying to go next month will be competing getting online with those who aren't visiting until the fall. : (

I thought that meant POP would be opening, but reports are it doesn't necessarily mean that-POP could not be opening at all and other rumors are it is opening BUT it will be for NBA Staff.

At any rate,Disney could have at least shot Guests arriving in THREE weeks an email that says "we aren't sure where yet,but you WILL have a room when you visit us in THREE weeks".:)

Monday seems to be the day people can call with upcoming trips. As of yesterday, my sources have said they have not been given any resort opening dates, including Pop, besides what has been announced.

I am so hopeful Pop will be open - fingers and toes crossed. Our dates are July 19-25, room only, platinum AP, out of state. We have not received the email about being able to do park res on Monday. Has me a tad worried. Wonder if I should pay off the room now? I have only put a deposit down at this point.
