Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

With DLH remaining closed for now, what does that mean for Goofy’s Kitchen, Steakhouse 55, and Trader Sam’s?

Has anything been said about those locations?
Not that I have seen. I was hoping SH55 would be open....

Not sure how they could do Goofy's? I don't think there will be character interactions. At least at the beginning....

I saw on Get Away Today's Instagram that they are able to sell Disneyland Resort Tickets until 5pm MST on Friday the 12th.
I totally panicked and had my friend purchase her PH for October. I am feeling a little stressed not knowing what to expect as our hotel accommodations are off site.

Frustrated, I have a ressi for 7/16-7/22 at GC. I have not been contacted by Disney to modify or cancel my vacation package. I called today and finally got a CM and tried to modify my ressi to 8/17. From what she saw on her end at 6:30 est. there was nothing available. I asked if I could cancel the room and keep the tickets and she said she wasn't able to do that. So now I sit on hold with Guest Services (back of house, as she called it) to see what they can do. Its been 1:30 so far.

The mask order in Orange County has been rescinded.

I hope DL continues with their on-property mask requirement to keep everyone safer.

Orange County rescinds coronavirus mask mandate; face coverings still strongly recommended
https://www.latimes.com/california/...ate-face-coverings-still-strongly-recommended

I'm a bit disappointed with that, but it's their county and I'm just a visitor there.
On the plus side, if Disney creates contactless payment systems and restricted guest attendance to the point physical distancing can be maintained, then masks are not necessary

Hope you get what you want. I was on the phone for 3 hrs today and I called st 8am pst...

The DL app is being updated with reopening info as they’ve removed the Learn More tab re: the closure.

All that’s current is from the Disney Health Director:
“In the meantime, our focus remains on the health and safety of the entire Disney community – including the wellbeing of the Cast Members who are caring for and securing our parks and resorts during the closure. We have already implemented a number of enhanced health and safety measures, such as increasing the frequency of cleaning and disinfection in work areas, adjusting practices to promote physical distancing, and providing Cast with access to necessary PPE, including face coverings. We continue to learn from these experiences and will carry these lessons into reopening and beyond.”

So, face coverings mentioned for CMs. No mention of guests.
Unfortunately, they aren't protecting the CMs unless they require mandatory masks for guests. The mask does not protect the wearer -- it protects everyone else FROM the wearer. I hope Disney holds firm.

I noticed with interest how the page that Disneyland has dedicated to the reopening is QUITE vague about what measures, exactly, will be taken. I took that to mean that they may shift their requirements as things unfold in the next month. I won't be surprised to see the mask requirements modified to only include indoor spaces. It honestly seems like requiring them outdoors is really pointless. Since most rides at DL are outdoors, they can maintain the distancing and allow masks to be voluntary, and that would be safe.

The one thing that I take issue with is the "parking will be limited." Are they going to do that stupid thing they are doing at FL theme parks and Disney Springs/Citywalk where they park the cars in every other space? Because that is probably the most idiotic thing ever. Parking lots EVERYWHERE here are doing no such thing because it is not even remotely necessary. Disneyland has enough of a parking problem already. Further limiting it will just cause unnecessary headaches. How often are you face to face with the person who parks next to you in a parking lot? It's not like you can both exit your cars simultaneously anyway. One person always has to wait for the other to get out and walk away. Anyway, done with my rant.

For people looking for tickets, maybe try grocery stores? Not sure if they pulled them though or if Disney will get preference for Disney-bought tickets over 3rd party ones.

The tickets sold at retail stores are not "third party" tickets. They are face value tickets and can be scanned into the DL app and show up as regular tickets.

oh sweet! Then if people need tickets and their store has them, buy them! lol

I will definitely be keeping a close eye on California's case numbers and hospitalization rates in the coming weeks, as that will significantly factor into our travel plans.

I don't think you will see anything alarming. Our stats have been holding steady for several weeks now, and in reality, people started going out and about over a month ago.

With masks? 😉 I do hope that you are right. I am now the proud holder of TWO PPH reservations 🤦‍♀️, having booked today for August as well as November. However, that was premised on the assumption that Disney would do everything it could to keep its guests safe.

The people who were wearing masks before today will still be wearing masks going forward. The small minority of loudmouth Karens and Chad's will victoriously march around baring face for everyone to see. Prior to today, there was an "unenforceable mandate" in the county to wear a mask when "out in public." Today, that has been replaced by a "recommendation." Either way, no one was making people wear masks (except for businesses who made it a rule, and who can continue to hold to that rule if they wish). In fact, our city passed an actual, enforceable/fineable law that masks must be worn at places of business and medical offices. They do not intend to pull that law at this time.

So, this mask ruling isn't going to really change things much around here. There wasn't anything resembling 100% compliance in most places in the county anyway.

Update: After 2:23 minutes on hold I am sad. The supervisor was able to modify to another date, but my husband is against asking is employer to change his vacation days again. I then asked if she could cancel the room portion of the package but keep the 5 dat ticket. She said it was all or nothing. So unless I can somehow convince my husband to ask again, we will have to cancel another vacation. I am half tempted to take my kids on my own. They are 11 and 13, it's not like they are toddlers.

I hope so. Worried that the various protests/riots will cause an increase of cases. Hopefully not too much of a spike. (For reasons bigger than Disneyland’s opening)

  • What about the others? I'm supposed to go to Disneyland in August for three days, but we're waiting to see what all the modifications will entail. I know I'll have to book park reservations in advance, but will I be allowed to purchase tickets for three days within a five day period? I know Disney hasn't released that info yet, but I thought if someone knows what they're doing at Shanghai DL, it should give us an idea what to expect at DL CA. I have reservations at Park Place Inn across the street. At this point, I'm 95% sure we'll be cancelling. And two weeks from today, I was supposed to be walking down Main Street at Tokyo Disneyland, but that's another thread. Just a little bummed about cancelling another Disney trip, while my kids are taking it exceptionally well.
