If there are more people in the parks trying to secure BGs than actual BGs available, then not everyone is going to be successful. I do see a lot of people saying relax you will be fine if you read this forum you are assured getting a BG. But maybe the longer it has gone on, the more people figured out what they needed to do and now even if you read this thread, you just have too many competitors to be sure you will get a BG.

Yeah, I know I lean more pessimistic than many here, but that’s what I’ve been saying for a while. The ride has had a good amount of bad days, the app has had major issues, there have been heavy crowds, it’s not enough just to get there and follow the steps sometimes (despite that being all we can do). Know going in you might miss out, whether that means on a BG all together (unlikely) or riding that day.

Have back up plans. Have a back up for your back up. Chances are still good you make it on the first try, but you don’t want to be blindsided at 8 AM on a day of your vacation that’s supposed to be fun!

My current plan for our 7 day May trip is to show up for BG selection on day 2, then day 3, then day 4, etc. until we get on the ride.

I mean, by day 5, if we still don’t get one, do you think crying at guest services will do anything? (Not serious... I think.)

I think that is my son's plan for our May trip too, regardless what the rest of us do.

And starting March 15 the park opening goes back to 9 AM, so an hour fewer BGs. So it gets a little more difficult.

I would bet an AP those times get moved earlier here at some point.*

Technically, with 8:30 close, it'll only be a half hour fewer BGs than today. Mar 1-14 will actually have 30 more minutes than today.

doesn't that mean the land is open but they aren’t taking boarding groups in the ride so it is closed?

I do believe that is part of what we're seeing these days. Not all of it, but part of it.

I wonder what that means. Can I girl hope that they would snag random people walking through the land (Batuu bounding) for another ride under these conditions?

I sure hope you’re right! We arrive the 17th and I just knew they’d change that 9am opening. Our plans centered around a quick hop to HS several mornings to see if we could get a BG, then hop to another park for a regular opening- depending on what we got. A 9am opening blows that out of the water.

- 101 total Boarding Groups were called - 41 Regular Boarding Groups and 60 Backup Boarding Groups (notable or maybe not: this was the exact same result as yesterday... make of that what you will)

- Thrill-Data charts show just how smooth the progression was today - no material downtime at all

So is the ride actually closed, or is it open to anybody who has a recovery FP (e.g. from a prior day issue)? That's something I've always wondered when it "closes up shop early" like this.

I will be there on the sane day with a group of 7 as well. I plan to do exactly what you are doing. We will be rope dropping Toy Story Mania (we have SDD Fastpass as well).

Well see the only reason I thought dashes meant it might still be open was couple days back it showed dashes mid-day (but I guess that still meant the ride itself was closed )

I do hope they move up the opening time for HS in mid March. I have 2 friends visiting for a quick trip that haven't been on it yet. Problem is Fri the 20th is the only time we can be there in the morning and they have to leave early afternoon.

We will have to do child swap also. How did the timing work on that? Did that add any extra time to return? Or was that even specified for those in second group?

Child swap was well organized. They added the person waiting plus 2 others. I’m not well versed in child swap, but I believe you can only hold one at a time, so we were careful not to get another. They show up in MDE similar to a fastpass and are good for the rest if the day. Unfortunately we headed back to the resort with the kids, and by the time the riders made it back, the ride was shut down and they couldn’t ride.

Okay, advice - we are making a 2nd attempt tomorrow, the family is all on notice! We are not taking any bags so we only have to do the tapstiles. We do not have any rides we want to rope drop. the only thing we want to do is get a BG, and we have FPs for TSM and MFSR later in the day.

So, taking all that into account, what time would you leave BC? My kids want to take the Skyliner but it doesn't open until 7:30 which would cut it way too close, but I think we could get a boat in the 7:10-7:15 range based on my morning balcony observations.

My opinion - you’re asking for a repeat performance of your last day... I would leave your room at BC by 6:45 and ensure you have no issues.

And even if the Skyliner was running there’s NO way I’d put my faith in that long indirect trip vs having complete control via my own 2 feet!

EDIT: Here’s what I’d do - at boat dock by 6:50. If no boat by 7:10 and you don’t see one at BW across the lake, you start walking.
