Disney World AP price increase? [Answer: Yes]

So if I want to upgrade my 5 days tickets to 6 days now, is there gonna be some crazy price increase? I couldn't get through over the weekend because of the fastpass drama clogging up phone lines

And people will STILL throw their money at Disney.
Imo, one of the bigger problems with long lines and lack of FP+ is BECAUSE of AP holders (mainly locals, who didn’t appear to get an increase). Those same people entering the parks day after day after day and riding the top tier rides numerous times while others literally spend YEARS with numerous trips and never get a single FP for those rides. And let’s face it, the reality of 3-7 hour lines is not realistic. It’s just not.

The answer is not price increases. The answer is to either limit how many times AP holders (locals) can ride the new rides and restaurants OR do what Discovery Cove does and limit daily attendance to a reasonable number so that guests are comfortable. Their current system of simply raising prices isn’t working.

The prices have also increased for locals. Per ClickOrlando.com, here are the prices as of today.

Florida resident passes:
Platinum Plus Pass: $999, no change
Platinum Pass: $899, no change
Gold Pass: $719, up from $699
Silver Pass: $539, up from $519
Select Pass: $439, no change
Weekday Select Pass: $369, up from $349

Epcot After 4 Pass: $319, up from $309
Waterparks Pass: $139, no change

I did not renew my AP this year due to health issues. I was looking forward to being able to go to the parks after I finish my treatment. That may not happen. It's getting to expensive for the amount of time I spend in the parks, especially when it's so hard to even do anything without a FP. FP's are almost always gone when I decide to spend a day in the parks...one of the downsides to being local.

As a local, I don't plan my park days months in advance. Thus, the FPs are usually gone when I do decide to go, as are the available ADRs.

Wow, was I lucky! Or maybe just paying attention.

I'm planning a 2021 trip - yep 19 months away - and considering an AP. I got my first AP in April 2018 for a Sept 2019 trip. The price has increased in Feb (2018) so I paid $849. The price went up by $50 in Oct 2018. I started thinking the price might go up in Feb 2020 considering it had gone up in '16, '17 and '18 in February. So Feb 5 I got an AP for a Sept 2021 trip...

I live 20 minutes away and the only time I was able to get a FP to FOP was when I stayed on property. Some of my coworkers have yet to ride it because they can't get a FP. Locals are not the reason for crowds. Most people I know either can't afford it or have absolutely no interest in Disney

SO They give you a reservation number and you just add that into MDE??
I just ordered from there for my dad for our upcoming trip and I did the mail option instead of the e-ticket. I received a physical card in the mail and was able to just type in the number on the back in MDE. Super simple.

I bought the e-ticket from UT this morning. It was delivered to my email within seconds on MDE in the My Plans section, hover over the picture of tickets and a link to link tickets pops up. Enter the barcode and match it to or enter the correct name. Very easy and quick!

Tickets at work if you have access.
I was able to grab 2 AP from there just now, thanks to DD's new job. Our existing AP renew in June. Even without the price increase today the total price from Tickets at Work was less than our rewewal, even when considering I have 2 day tickets to apply towards the renewal.
I also grabbed the needed Disneyland tickets
@AngiTN I looked there for AP but only see Florida resident ones. Where do I look for the other APs?

this is the thinking of non Orlando residents. That local ap holders just spend every free time at the parks :) each time these price increases show up I read the same argument. The added untruth is that we grab bg every day for RotR

Totally agree! We had a house there for 3 years and only there part time. We were a mile north of Magic Kingdom in Windermere and there were many times we were there for a couple of months and never stepped foot into the parks. Disney springs once in a while to eat and this happened many times over the 3 years.

Now that we are back to only our house in Dallas and visit, we go to the parks much more again. I think when you are there full time, it is tiring going to the parks and dealing with the crowds so it takes a special occasion to get you there. When you travel there, your plans are specifically around an occasion and you are prepped to be in the parks.

BTW, I can attest to nightly fireworks at Magic Kingdom are really cool for about a week and then after that they just annoy you and the dog that wants to bark at them. Nothing worse than being asleep at 11:00pm or later during the summer and have the fireworks BOOM wake you up. 😱😳

Some sample changes (tax Excluded, dates chosen by me at random). Positive = increase; negative = decrease. Yes i double checked, a 3 day ticket on 4/11 went up for adults and down for children. No idea why.

If these dates are representative, the increases seem focused on days 5-10 of a multiday ticket (which have historically been ~$10 each), as well as APs.

Buying AP's still make since for our family of 4 even with the price increase. Example: our upcoming trip in April we are staying Beach Club, Club Level for 6 nights. We are getting 35% off the room which is roughly $1800 - $2000. We are also staying at BC again in October for 9 nights which will be roughly $2500 -$2700 savings and Christmas 9 nights we will easily save another $2000+ with AP discount so we will save over $6K on the room (all 3 trips combined) PLUS park tickets are paid for AND the discounts on dining and merchandise. AP is still a value for us.

I had some trouble finding the regular APs too. There is a row of pictures of the different passes. There was an arrow to scroll to the right that I missed when I first looked. When I saw it & scrolled over, the regular APs were there.

I found them. Thank you. Now I need to figure out if it is worth getting for me. I think I am able to do 3 trips on it Dec, April and next fall - probably October. I am pretty sure it will pay for itself if I do those 3 trips. I don't want to make a rush decision tho
