The 1 hr will relieve end of night “load up the line” craziness (hopefully). They don’t need to call 50 BGs between 5 and 6 now 🤣

Then they need to make it either backup BG's only get a hour to return, or something like any BG's called after 5 (or whatever they wanna call), only gets a hour. For BG's to only get a hour this early is just ludicrous

But it still affects ADRs big time inside HS, If you had Savis and Droid Depot, there's a good chance you're gonna miss one or both if your BG is called at the same time. All this is going to do is create more upset guests

I think we should wait to see how this is executed in practice before getting too concerned about it. If I had an ADR or other appointment that might conflict with my BG return, I would talk to a GET member about the possibility of revising or extending my BG return to accommodate it. As long as they can see on your account that you have another reservation within DHS I would bet that they will be flexible.

It was hard enough trying to plan parks and days- leaving in wiggle room to get back when called. We don't go until mid March, so hoping the dust settles and they change from this to something else. All I know is the plans I had made are probably out the window now- definitely had hopping out as a strategy.

Straight from the HUB:
UPDATE: Guests will be given a specific window of time of either one or two hours to return through the My Disney Experience app.

So now it looks like it could be either one
Maybe 1 hour at the beginning and end of the day, but 2 hours through the middle? Whatever it is, no one likes a crap shoot! Ugh.

Just to add, making it "1 or 2 hours" is awful, unless people can know ahead of time which window they'll be given.

Talked a GET, he said that it will tell you on the app what your return deadline will be, could be 2 hours, could be 1 hour. Thank you for asking me to talk to them, the guy was super nice and pixie-dusted me into BG 10!! 🤩🤩🤩. I did NOT request this or anything, we were just talking, and he asked what group I was in and then said “let’s see what we can do about that”. Moral of the story: be cheerful and polite and random magic may happen
CM’s . Thank you for doing this for this person.....now prepare for an onslaught of this scenario and people getting ticked off when their group time is not changed....

Maybe only to EP anyway...

Can we complain about the 1 hour thing here, at least for a day? Because to me....

They’ve been trialing at Disneyland where people have been getting 1 or 2 hours. Although there, it’s been 2 mainly early in the day and 1 only near close.

It also may let them call an additional 5-6 BGs/day without risking ride close...

Another column for The Chart. Which BGs are 1 hour and which are 2. It would help to know before you're called.
(Thank you, @CastAStone for taking it over and @SouthFayetteFan for starting it!)

Guess it gives them a bit more flexibility for how the queue is doing and how fast they want people to come back, etc ....guess we shall see how it is executed in practice

As for making plans, definitely have to plan as if you will / may only have that 1 hour return window

Hopefully the CM’s will work with people with multiple ADR’s.

But going forward, if the one hour becomes the norm for everyone, maybe people who have two days planned at HS, will make one day their sleep in ADR day and the other day will be the get up early and get a BG day.

That is a good point - even if in DHS if you BG comes up right at the start of a sit down meal or what if it gets called like 20-30 minutes before your Savi reservation? Or Oga's?

Hopefully they will continue to be understanding and move reservations or something

Man Disney, just when we think we have the answer you go and change the question

At this point , I am quite sure it will be much easier to reschedule ADR’s and other experiences, than hand out FP or return tickets for an already over crowded ride. I seriously doubt they will have a problem adjusting a schedule. Unless its been so over planned each hour.

Maybe they are trying to reduce the number of people who come to dhs just to get a bg and then leave. Perhaps they want to push people to only ride on a day when they plan to stay at the park. If that is the end result (after a few days, anyway), it could reduce the number of people there at 7. Also, as I said earlier, it does allow them to get through a few more groups each day.
This exactly. ROTR is the most popular ride at WDW right now. I am sure analytics have show that a large number of people are park hopping and its clogging up the system. Making a BG wait for 2 hours so someone can park hop is definitely an issue. I am sure they want to serve the people who maybe going to SWGE for the first (and maybe only time) over people who are just trying to get in another ride.

Its actually a smart thing to do to serve the most guests staying at HS and experiencing SWGE for the day.

Not so great for seasoned folks trying to cherry pick the ride for multiple days.

However , you can opt to get a BG and park hope after you ride.
