January 14th and 15th, walked over from Boardwalk and entered park around 6:45 AM. Grabbed a coffee at Anaheim Produce and had a seat right there on Sunset Boulevard. Using AT&T cellular, I opened the app exactly at 7 AM, just as they announced that boarding groups were available. Got 23 and 19 respectively. Thanks to everyone for the very helpful information.
I wish we could create a giant poster of this comment!! So many people are trying to over-complicate it, but it’s really this easy. And if your fingers are slower you’ll get a higher BG but probably no big deal if you planned a flexible day as is recommended.

(I’m not trying to downplay the “stress” around this. I’m stressed a bit about it...but there’s only so many things I can control so eventually we just gotta go with what works best)

Our backup group was called and we took the skyliner back to the park. We got in line around 5:00. (We were 124 and they were up to 136 when we got in line) We didn't time it to the minute, but the wait was about half an hour. The line continuously moved. Only real negative was the annoying group from Green Tours that chanted inside the queue - very loud and obnoxious.

I’m sure this is a dumb question but on the chart most days it lists the 1st boarding group called at a number higher than 1. Only like 1 day did they start with 1. Why? What happens with groups 1-7 or whatever

No explanation has been given. They just don’t start at 1 for reasons known only to people (somebody?) at Disney.

I'm sorry if this has been answered, but I haven't the time to read 235 pages of this thread :P

What happens if you have other plans at the time your boarding group is called? Say I get there first thing in the morning but have a dinner reservation over at EPCOT in the evening and that's the time my boarding group is called? Am I just out of luck? We often start the day at one park and finish at another but should I plan on these days being spent all in DHS?

As mentionned in post # 2 :
Once you have obtained a BG you can leave the park if you wish and go about your day. When your BG is "called" you have 2 hours to return to the ride entrance. That's 120 minutes...so you can basically get back there in time from anywhere on property. And it's pretty easy to see when your BG will be called as you can monitor it throughout the day via the MDE app.

My turn... parked the car at 6:34, scanned in at 6:46. Seems like a very light crowd today. Lines couldn’t have been more than 20 people deep per row
Our second DHS day is a Thursday so fingers crossed that's a trend that continues for the next couple of weeks!

Our family of four is planning on getting to HS 30-45 min before park opening. Our plan is to grab a BG and rope drop SRMF. We have two little ones and will have a double stroller. Thoughts on strategy for where to park the stroller efficiently so we can get to the SRMF waiting area as quickly as possible?

(And apologies if this same Q has been asked!)
