I agree. That is small! Our house before the 2200 sqft house was 1230 sqft. It was incredibly teeny. We moved after we had our 2nd dd. I agree it would have been tough to live in that size with a child who is old enough to want to have friends over.

Our 4000 is ridiculous but 1300 is in the finished basement, which is 98% finished. I throw all the teens down there so that is really nice cause they are so loud :crazy2:
Well 4000 for 6 people is ok, we are a family of 3 so it would be ridiculously large for us. Here they don’t count basement in sq footage, though our basement is not finished. Our house is 2 bedrooms. Technically 3 bedrooms but the third is an addition which we use as a family room. (Hard to use as a bedroom IMO because one wall is windows from waist high to ceiling ) Our desk is in the dining room. I really just want one more bedroom and a bigger kitchen. It doesn’t even need to be an updated kitchen...

I’m talking 1200 sq feet. I wouldn’t want 4000 square feet. Ever. But I’d be good with 1800-2000 sq feet. We had an 1800 sq Ft house and now all that stuff is crammed into 1200 sq ft. I need a pot or pan, I might have to dig it out of the basement. And forget entertaining. DS can’t have friends over, there is no where to go.

Our house is also not the best for entertaining. But when the kids were little we used to host a Halloween party that all 3 could invite friends to. We usually had about 30-40 kids! It was crazy but fun. We did it for about 5 years and when they started getting older it was harder. The finished basement definitely makes a difference, we couldn't have done it otherwise. Though I remember friends of our growing up that had 5 kids and probably 1000 sf house, only 2 bedrooms! And we did go over there at times, and there was 5 kids in my family too. We didn't go over often, lol.

Do you just wait in line and then tell them you wanna do rider swap?
If you have a FP, you go to that queue and then they give you a paper FP that is good all day for the other parent to ride and you can take 2 more with you. If you don't have a FP, I'm pretty sure you wait through the regular queue and then get the paper FP. You need to have everyone present when you ask for the rider swap.

We have a couple of sets of friends. One has 5 kids and one has 6 kids. Both live in houses that cannot be any larger than 1800 sqft (and these are tri-levels so no basements). I don't know how they do it.

The ride will be better then. Did you see the TPG rundown? (Shudder I know LOL) Even She was complaining about the tech issues causing the ride to go down + tech issues causing bad ride pacing. Hopefully they have it straightened out by May!
Seriously! I am reading some pretty disturbing things about multiple breakdowns, guests being asked to put mobile devices in airplane mode not to mess with the wireless signals, etc. Doesn't seem ready for primetime, but here we go!

We will see it as something the next CEO has to correct on the Imagineering Story in a few years 🤣

We used to have parties at our old house. Invite all our friends, family and everyone both DH and I worked with. We had a decent sized house, basement was finished on one half, plus a huge double lot nicely landscaped. We haven’t had anyone to this house except family, there just isn’t room. When we have family, it’s only 7 adults and 4 kids and it’s pretty tight. Kids enjoy eating in family room with tv. Adults eat in dining room. We could fit one more adult at the dining table, it seats 8. Lol.
I had friends in high school with 8 kids in the family. 4 bedrooms, mom and dad’s; girls’ bedroom and boys’bedroom. The last bedroom was tiny (possibly a nursery or storage at one time) and the oldest kid at home had dibs on that. Honestly though, none of the kids spent much time at home. I was friends with one of the sons and one of the daughters and never spent more than 20 minutes in their house at one time.

Dh’s family has 8 kids. They had 3 bedrooms and an attic. At one point his dad had to make a triple bunk bed lol. Oh and they had one bathroom

Ooooh I hate to burst the Rider Swap bubble...but FP+ and MDE have changed all of that. You no longer get the paper FP to come back. They load the Rider swap on your MDE account. And the real bummer is you don't get all day (or the rest of the month) to use it anymore...it's good for an hour or so after it's loaded. It's a major bummer now for those using it. It seems that people collecting tons of them and selling them probably ruined it for everybody.

I'm doubting myself... I got the Southwest Performance Business right before the sign-up bonus dropped from 80K to 70K in Oct, planning to hit the spend in Jan as the basis for my next cp. I think the spend required was $5,000, but now I'm doubting it and have $3000 stuck in my head for some reason. I can see current offers but don't know how to verify what it was when I signed-up. Someone please reassure me that the Performance card has always been $5k, right?

Before we moved we were in under 1100 sq ft for the 7 of us with no storage and only a detached garage. It was a LONG three years there saving and saving. I'm glad we stuck it out though. Our house we bought is around 2600 with such a perfect layout for us. We feel like we have so much space now! We do have plans to add more bedrooms because it is only a three bedroom. My oldest DD is the only one who minds sharing (she doesn't mind terribly) and that's because she is 6 and 10 years older than the younger two girls.
New baby will be in with us for a few years which gives us some time to work on the extra bedrooms we need and hopefully avoid having to put four girls in one room.

We are working on two SW Performance and I'm sure they are 5,000

I am so honored that I get to be a part of what may be your greatest accomplishment in life :lovestruc You deserve those 50k! You give so much of your time and love to this thread. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best place on the DIS and YOU are a big part of why that is the case! Thanks for all you do!

Oh that is a bummer! We used it last in 2017 and not since. I didn't realize things had changed.

The really frustrating part is the time restriction. As an example...now if you get a rider swap at FoP or SM or Soarin early in the AM you have to use it right away. Our old touring strategies would have been to hold on to the swap to use during the busiest time of day (i.e. between 11:30 and 3:30) and move on with our morning while lines are shorts. I specifically cite those rides because the experience length can be enormous even with a FP (or RS). It easily can eat up 25-45 minutes of your day during PRIME TIME low lines. It's terrible...they really should have stuck with the rest of the day.

Yikes! Our 1400 sq ft was perfect when our oldest was an infant, but by the time we were a family of 4 it was tight. We built a 6 bed, 3 bath about 2600 sq ft (I optimized every inch ;) and have loved it for 8+ years. For us, it's more about compartmentalizing than square footage.

That really does stink. We have held ours but also used right away as I have kids who love to ride their favs over and over. It wasn't totally uncommon for us to RD Space, use a FP and then use rider swap all back to back 😆
