Received my 10k Marriott points for my retention bonus on Bonvoy Biz today. I wonder if I should try to go for another Amex now that I put over $1000 spend on that card... of course, I got the pop up just three weeks ago on a Hilton card :sad2:

I called for a retention offer on my Bonvoy Biz last week, and nada. I haven’t been putting much spend on the card, so that may be the reason. I’ll try again before the AF is due. The AF went up to $125, but I think I can find value in a 35k FNC even at that price.

Geez the crayola set I got my nephew is already sold out. I guess I picked popular items this year. That just went on sale 3 hours ago. It’s normally $30 and I got it for $10.

I also ordered a pot and a pan for $10 each from target and Dh got adjustable dumbbells from Walmart for $250
So glad you were able to get some good deals! I feel like I am striking out this year. 🤣

I'm at 33 weeks and 10 lbs below pre pregnancy weight. Gestational Diabetes is seriously the worst thing ever. I can't eat anything right now. ☹

We have 9 for Thanksgiving (which is funny because it's just us and my mom and fil 😂) We are having cheeseball and veggies for appetizers, DH is smoking a turkey for the first time, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, green bean casserole, rolls, and stuffing. My mom is making pudding dessert, I'm baking DH some pumpkin pie and my oldest two are attempting a Key Lime pie.
I can empathize - I had GD with my 2nd and it felt like being in prison, all the rules and restrictions!

So all the thanksgiving food talk, I have to ask - Black olives Yay or Nay? We always put out a relish tray - black olives, green olives and pickles. But my siblings and I always fought over the black olives. I think it was our favorite part of Thanksgiving meal growing up. lol One year my aunt bought us a Sams size can, this was before Sams was a thing. lol, and we were in heaven. Just the plain pitted olives in the can. But I have not met anyone else who likes them. My kids, my DH, his family, all my friends and everyone I know hates them.
We are a divided house - black for hubby, green for me. Although he'll eat green ones now, so hubby is up for any olive. I'm particular, no black, but some of the other kinds can be acceptable - unfortunately I don't know their names, just what they look like in a salad :laughing:Follows my family too, there were pretty even split for who went for each side of the tray so we always had both. No pickles though.
And I'm so happy to hear the olive tray at Thanksgiving is pretty common. For just one year we combined turkey day and my mom come over to my ILs so we brought with us the couple things we like that they don't usually serve (and OMG, we almost didn't find a spot on the table for it:laughing:). The big one was the olive tray, ILs don't do it. We got a lot of questions on what's up with the olives? It was as foreign to them having one as it was for us to not have one. I started to wonder if we were just weird (well I know we are but that's a whole other story!) and maybe it was a regional thing. Now I wonder if they just didn't like olives so now their kids have no idea what a relish tray is  There are now new generations who won't be doing relish trays all thanks to my ILs!
This might be a weird memory to share but.... my parents divorced when I was young and my dad was somewhat of a ladies man. Lol. Well one thanksgiving we had at his current lady friend’s house. She did have the relish tray with the black olives. Us 5 kids stuck the olives on our fingers, like we always did, lol. But she yelled at us. Omg, what would your mom say about your behavior. Ummm, good job? Lol. Who do you think taught us this trick. 🤣🤣🤣 That relationship didn’t last long. Lol. But 40 years later and I still remember it.
Exactly!! We learned from my Mom. If that would have been a scene on TV there'd be a quick cut to Mom eating olives off her fingers going "What??" :D I never really like black olives but I tolerated them if I played with them first. I always wished the green ones were big enough for fingers instead

And with all the food talk I learned something new - deviled eggs for Thanksgiving. We do that as a summer thing so never occurred to me to do a tray for Thanksgiving.

I don't remember how it started but we used to do cream cheese and celery as the starter/snack along with a bowl of walnuts in the shell. The cream cheese and celery logs also seem a little more summery but there must have been some connection. We didn't have a lot of people, never more than 6, and ate early so Grandpop wasn't driving home for long in the dark (only 15 minutes down the road) so didn't need appetizers as mostly people showed up and we sat down to eat. We socialized after as we waited to have room for pie - it was how we prevented falling into food comas :rotfl:

I think so much of this is regional, just like the words we use for things - remember that fun discussion lol!?! So, I'm from deep southeastern TX. We never had relish trays at our thanksgiving or Christmas meals (which are mostly the exact same meal...). I never even learned of a 'relish tray' until I met and married my hubs, whose family is from Ohio. They introduced me to this tray as a part of our holiday meal. My TX family does not eat olives nor pickles as part of their holiday meal but my hubs fam loves it. So, I began incorporating this into our meals.
Now, deviled eggs...very, very much a part of our TX holiday meals. There is no such thing as a thanksgiving or Christmas dinner without deviled eggs
I love how the US has so many different customs and traditions!

MAYBE Cyber Monday? 🤣

I am still waiting for Costco's Thanksgiving day promos to start. Gotta order a laptop. Maybe 3am ET?

Are the deals on the Pros or just the Airs? DH thinks if we wait they will update the pro though, so I don't think I'll get anything now. DD has the smaller pro and really loves it. DH has the big one but it's just too heavy for me. My little card thing (yes, I'm that non-technical) arrived today and DH installed it, so I'm hoping that'll keep mine running for a bit longer.

I've been wanting to try Hulu, but isn't there a plan without ads? If there was a good deal for that I think I'd sign up, but I don't have the patience to sit through commercials anymore. I haven't watched actual TV (as opposed to DVDs and streaming services) in years.
Yeah, there is a no-add version, but it is higher in price. I did the $0.99 a year last time, but for double the price I don't really think I need it this time. Maybe if a no-add deal pops up!

I know, outta left field, but I am actually ordering a Dell XPS from Costco for my sister today. LOL

Costco has both the Air and Pro on sale between Thanksgiving and Black Friday, but your DH is 100% correct. The 13-inch still has the butterfly keyboard which was just removed from the newly released 16-inch. A new 13-inch is rumored for the first half of 2020.

Thanks for posting. Unfortunately it doesn't save me anything - $100 cheaper fare but I'd lose $200 in port credits, but my friend is a past cruiser so it could work out better for her!

You only need 1 past cruiser in the cabin to get the rate. Thought I’d mention that in case you’re traveling with other people who have sailed NCL before.

Do you already know you’re doing cruise line excursions at 4 ports? My parents’ cabin had the port credit last cruise, but didn’t end up using it at all.

I'm shocked! No Apple products for you! :rotfl:

Yeah, DH is usually pretty up to speed on the Apple stuff. It's a good thing since I spend my time planning trips and thinking about where I want to go next. I just want electronics that work well and don't cause me problems.

Coming in to share my menu! Well, DH’s menu... I can’t cook :rolleyes1

17 pound turkey
Mashed potatoes
Mac and cheese
Stuffing
Cranberry sauce
Yeast rolls
Deviled eggs
Collard greens
Green bean casserole
Chocolate cheesecake
Bourbon bacon apple pie

I think that’s it...:rotfl:

A nice Southern style dinner and it sounds wonderful! I've lived in Maryland since the 80ties and have grown to love this meal, but have just not learned how to cook collard greens, but hopefully someone will bring them to the feast tomorrow.
I'm bringing the corn pudding, candied yams, stuffing, deviled eggs and baked ham, while the turkeys are being fried there, plus numerous other dishes will be had such as mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, relish tray, breads, and whatever others bring. There will be quite a few people, when friends are included and we are at older daughter's house. I told DD about the Nantucket Cranberry Pie and we are going to make that with the fresh cranberries she bought.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. I'm working tomorrow....healthcare worker. The kids and I are heading out to California to visit my mom{ assisted living} on Sunday. I just transferred 24k MR's to Life miles to book two nights at the Fairfield Inn. It would have cost 40k Marriott points or 300 dollars cash so I think this was a decent deal. Even if it wasn't I'm happy to save the money.

No judgements on how we use our points although I think you did just fine! Enjoy your visit with your Mom!
