Getting ready to transfer over to the Grand Floridian. Traveling alone and having a car makes it quite easy to resort hop. I actually canceled my last night accidentally and never got it back, so looks like I'm leaving tomorrow, unless I can find another room before then. Either way I'm fine.
This morning I was quite hungry so I got up and went over to Ale and Compass at the Yacht Club. I hadn't been there since it was called Captain's Grill. It was delightfully quiet and subdued. The buffet is a bargain at $23 with a 10% discount for DVC or AP. You get the buffet items and an entrée made to order, or you can just order an entrée. It's not a huge eggy meaty buffet, just some pastries, oatmeal, smoked salmon, etc with a few other things. Your entrée is regular sized and more than enough by itself, but I went for the whole thing this morning. With a $5 tip and my 10% discount it was $26 plus change, and then I used a gift card which I purchased at a discount, so under $25. I couldn't eat all my food on my plate so they offered me a container, which I didn't need this time - didn't want to cart it to GF and risk it being too warm. This price includes coffee, and juice - I had V-8 - my morning veggie, lol. No characters.
@disfanforlife - since you are arriving and I am leaving the same day, I didn't think our paths would actually cross. I'm finished with Epcot, but may go to MK later, but maybe not as they have early closing for a party at 6pm. Maybe I'll go enjoy some Grand Flo ambiance - the Enchanted Rose is adorable - I wandered through there earlier this trip. Anyway, have a wonderful time! I certainly can't complain - even my last room tried to accommodate by leaving a pet (on my curtain) in there for me to enjoy!
Another note - since I got a dining plan for the first nights when my friend was with me, I've still had my 'cup' to use - I've carried that mug everywhere and have enjoyed coffee, tea, iced tea, lemonade and root beer. I've even filled it in the DVC lounge, but you have to fill the paper cup first and pour it in, I asked first to make sure I wasn't going to break any Disney rules. It's nice because it has a handle and a top you can secure closed. It's good for a full two weeks and I'm just a couple days short of that by the time I leave.
