Staying mostly at Universal this trip, but I'm going to MVMCP solo on Thursday. I have been in Florida the last 2 Februaries as I have some family to visit a few hours away from Orlando and have been lucky with beautiful weather. I'm doing a side trip to visit family this week also, will be at the Sarasota Opera as my nephew is playing in the orchestra for Rigoletto.
That sounds very nice! And glad that you have had good luck with weather in February. It was been over 10 years since we went that time of year. But with Orlando you never know what the weather is going to be like!

I'm starting to plan a trip to LA in April so DH can check the Dodgers and Angels stadiums off his list, and of course to go to DL. I have a couple of logistical booking questions since this is my first trip using points :
  1. DH and I are covering our flights with travel credit on our Southwest accounts, but we're both working to earn our CP benefit early next year so we can claim our 2 oldest kids as our companions when we fly. We had enough RR points between us to book RT tickets for our youngest, but that drained the small amount of points we each had. Should I use points to book our older 2 kids once our first batch of RR post from our first CC bonus in Januaryish, or are we fine to wait and book them once we reach the milestone to earn CP?
  2. Rent a car in LA? We plan to be there 5 days and do DL 2 days, hit both LA baseball stadiums, and other random site seeing. I know LA traffic is notoriously bad, but I have no idea about what the public transit is like out there either.
  3. Any recommendations on Hilton hotels in LA? I was looking at the options near DLR, but not sure if there is anything else worth splurging on. We have a free weekend night, so I could book a super fancy room with that at the Anaheim Hilton for one night, and a standard room the rest, and maybe hope diamond status keeps us in the same fancy room all 4 nights (possibly wishful thinking :confused3) Any other Hilton's I should consider that might be more central to site seeing the rest of LA?
Can I say I'm super pumped that we are even discussing this after DH said we couldn't do Disney again for a long time due to the cost. I so appreciate all the help I've gotten the last few months starting this CC journey!

I think for the most part. It is like a regular travel agency.
Dh and I started looking at cruise options for 2021. We're thinking summer and want to do Norway/Scotland/Iceland if we can get them all on the same cruise. Dh is still not sure about doing a cruise. He thinks he'd rather fly there and stay. I think cruising would allow us to see more ports without traveling a bunch on our own with a baby. So far, I'm seeing MSC as a good option for a cruise line.

I had to file with Alamo, but I also had to notify Chase what happened within 10 days of the incident to qualify for the credit card coverage from the CSR. Chase uses a 3rd party to handle claims, so then I had to open a claim online with that company within 100 days, and I have up to a year to submit documents for the claim.

So far, Alamo is claiming they haven't received a bill from the body shop yet for the repair (incident was June 1). I called in July for an update, and was told they give themselves a 90 day window to get paperwork from the body shop. I called in September and was told they would request a bill from the body shop. When I called last month, the rep said she would send out a 2nd request for the bill and if there wasn't one they would close out the claim. I called last week, and that rep said she would send out a 3rd request for the bill and if there wasn't one they would close out the claim. I told her that's what the last person told me. Oh no, ma'am, it's only after the 3rd request that they could close out the claim for no response. >:(

Sorry to hear about all the trouble you have had. We had a similar situation where DH's rental car was hit in a hotel parking lot. It took forever, but there was no response and they finally closed the claim. He had used the CSR, but they still collected $500 from him when he returned the rental car.

We are in Orlando now. No parks for us. Sad. DH has a conference and I’m just tagging along. Right now we are in Hyatt House across from Universal. We picked Hyatt House to get our 4th Hyatt brand. Tomorrow we move to Hyatt Regency by the convention center. DH only had morning session today so I made him take me on a little Disney fix after. We decided to see how many modes of transportation we could hit without going in a park. Lol We started at Disney Springs to eat. Btw, I told DH all my friends said we had to eat at Homecomin’. He looked at menu and said this looks like Cracker Barrel. Lol. So no Homecomin for us. Ate at Ragland Road instead. Then rode bus to Grand Floridian to see Gingerbread house. Saw castle as we rode monorail to Epcot. Then rode bus from Epcot to Pop century resort. Rode new skyliner from Pop to Hollywood Studios then rode boat to Boardwalk. I think we saw 3 different firework shows from Boardwalk area. Had a great day and enjoyed the warm sunshine.

AA Award booking question. If I book a British Airways flight and pay the ungodly fees to LHR but then something opens up on AA, I know I have to pay a change fee, but will they refund ungodly fees?

‘Not fancy but room to spread outa bit and very close to DL - Embassy Suites. We used Uber to get around. Rented a car for one day to go toHuntington Beach. National rental place right by hotel.

First time I have heard MSC described as a good option. :p Seriously though, I would do some research on MSC because whilst I have never sailed them - I have also heard plenty mixed reviews which if I was to generalise - I would say folks who are new to cruising or have only cruised low-end cruise lines tend to be happy with MSC, whereas folks who have previously sailed with Princess/RCCL/Carnival etc tend to be less satisfied.

Spend some time on cruisecritic.com and look at the reviews for the specific ship you would be sailing.

I actually didn't even read any reviews yet. The main reason I was looking at them was because they were on the list of top 5 baby friendly cruise lines on a blog I was reading. They're partnered with Chicco so have lots of baby essentials on board and a good nursery. They are cheaper which might be why the reviews aren't so good. I think any cruise line will be hard for us since we've only done DCL.

Yep, I've read the same. Very mixed, from good to absolutely awful. I noticed that some of the DCL cruisers will sail on MSC but only in their special, upgraded club cabins (which at some points might defeat the point of choosing that cruise line) but I have no personal experience with them. I'd do a lot of research before booking with them in any case.

@Haley R check NCL for similar itineraries.

Did you like Raglan Road at least?

Despite how often we go down there we never make it to Disney Springs. Other than a brief field trip to maybe the grocery store and Outlet once we are in the bubble it is easier to just stay there and Disney Springs seems outside of it. There is a beer at Raglan Road DH wants to have again (last had in Ireland) but even that has not caused us to venture out. :)

Glad you had a good day!

My love/hate with Amex continues. DH approved for Biz Gold. Since I can’t support I used Dischurner link. I figured he needed a MSR and I might as well focus on getting what I can get for him from Amex for now. I like it as a card with the fluctuating categories. Gas especially is a good option.
