Canceled by Barclays Uber a minute ago. Never even had to talk with an agent. That's the first time I was able to cancel a card through a fully automated call line. A little odd, but whatever. I'm sure Barclays has had tons of cancellations for this card over the past 5 days.

The cancellation comes exactly 2 years and 1 day from the day I opened the account.

I'm also now officially under 5/24 again. I can't open another card until I hit the MSR I'm currently working on tho.

"around"???? hmmmm how close? I personally liked the area down around Fort Meyers, and the Estero beach islands for a few days (Loved the Edison estate area) and I like West Palm Beach coast area.....(and up thru Jupiter etc) lots to see and explore (I love old school kitschy tourist stuff tho) also found plenty to do around the Everglades on the eastern side on down..... I also liked finding Manatee state park type places at the right time of year like Blue Springs,or the wildlife areas on Merritt Island on the space coast....I find Florida a very interesting state. I guess it depends on what you like- I've read a lot of 'Florida off the beaten path' type guidebooks over the years....

I also really liked Fort Myers area @amalone1013. We did a long weekend. We spent one day touring Everglades. Did a boat tour plus drove to alligator alley. Saw about a million alligators. Some just a few feet from us while on a walking trail. We did a day on captiva/Sanibel. We rode bikes all over the island. Then a day at Edison place and the Mound House museum. Both of those were “free” with reciprocal membership from a local museum here. Sitting on beach relaxing not fun for us. We like to be doing something.

We have also spent a weekend at St Augustine. We enjoyed walking through the old town area. But we were there for a wedding so didn’t get to do much on our own.

Also really enjoyed St Pete area. We did that with our Clearwater Beach trip. The Dali museum, also “free”, was really cool.

Does anyone know if you can refer from a Delta Gold Biz to a Delta platinum Biz? I know there is some Amex trick to refer from one card to different cards. Wasn’t sure about the Delta cards.
Ok looks like I can, but don't know what offer they will get until they click through.

When I click the refer a friend button I get "Each friend can earn 30,000 bonus miles after they use their new Card to make $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 months and a $50 statement credit after they make a Delta purchase with their new Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card within the first 3 months of Card Membership.Your friend will be able to choose from a variety of American Express Personal and Business Card offers. You can receive your referral bonus no matter what Card your friend is approved for. "

There just were some elevated offers on Delta cards so I will probably wait and see if they come back. It looks like the AF on the Platinum is increasing at the end of January so there is a deadline I would want to beat.

I just started my new job and one of the benefits is free medical evacuations from anywhere in the world except N Korea.....for free!! As long as you are 150+ miles from home they will send a plane for you. Whhaattt?? No one else in the room seemed to care about this except me. :confused3
That's a cool perk! What job? Is this for personal as well as professional? I work for an International insurance company, and we have coverage while traveling for work but not personal.

Yay, have an awesome time! We are disembarking from NCL Bliss tomorrow.....kinda sad but we have 3 1/2 days of Disneyland still to do. It's always best for dh to have something to look forward to or else he is so depressed having to leave the ship. Me, I would rather have the land vaca first and the cruise after to relax, but I'm willing to compromise! Lol
Did you take the Bliss to AK? How did you like it? We are booked on the Joy next summer. I preferred the itinerary on the Bliss, but the Joy sailing dates worked better for our group.

Just a comment on DC hotels in April. That is a very popular time so hotel rooms will be high. Usually in the $300+ range for even the 3 star hotels.
I knew it would be a busier time there. We are only going in April because it's the only time it fits into our schedule. My BIL lives close by so it's also a visit to see him. Those are the prices I'm seeing as well. We each opened Hilton cards and I thought we would be able to have enough points for 4 nights, but since we can't fit into one room it looks like we may not.

Has anyone seen this?

Expensive but kind of cool, includes food. I’m actually thinking about doing it. It’s the weekend before DS’s birthday. Could stay at USO hotel thru Chase portal for 15-20k points, free flights on SW. Would stay 1 or 2 nights and just do pool time. Suggestions for which hotel? Cabana Bay vs Sapphire falls or is there another cheap one?
Sounds just like the OI meetup. I think it could be fun.

Any recommendations for a new card? I have our property tax payment coming up this month (over $10,000.00), so can easily fulfill a high MSR. Not sure if I want to try for the platicorn since I am not certain I could use all the benefits (could use the Uber credit a few times / year and for sure the Saks credit, after that nothing stands out to me). I am currently 3/24 with the Hyatt Chase card dropping off in July, 2020 and 4/12 with AmEx. I looked at the other AmEx business cards and nothing stands out to me there (I am locked out of the new gold card because I had a gold card over 5 years ago).

Is it worth going after another Chase business card? I was thinking of starting a MR stash. Thoughts? I'm not even certain if the RAT has locked me out of new cards since I only use 2 of my 4 AmEx cards.

Does the Gyft app still code as 5% on the CIC using PayPal? Was thinking of getting some Walmart GFs to use at SAMs for DGCs. Seems the % off has gone down a bit, the $500 are just 3% now, the single $50 is 4% but thats a lot of cards to scratch and enter for 1% savings. :rotfl2:

what are you running right now?
I currently go back and forth between MR and CUR depending on my balances.
If you are heavy in the UR do you have the CSR and Unlimited? that's where I would go next.
Also, the freedom is good on some purchases at 5% back even though the quarterly bonus is difficult sometimes but its 7.5 x back with the CSR in combination.

With Amex, I have the Plantium the Gold (4x dining and groceries and the everyday preferred for everything else (it stinks you have to do 20 transactions but its easy to do).

Referrals aren't allowed on the dis on threads or dms. I'd suggest editing it out of your post.

If anyone is interested in supporting fellow dissers you can join our private reddit group which I'm sure @Lain @wendow or someone will.have info on that soon.

Eta the boards on my phone annoy me.

I’m on the fence. So expensive for one night. I booked SW flights just in case..,
I looked at it like this when we went... but this is your pricing for your date

$192 per adult for 11 hours, no food, for 1 day p2p ticket (forgot to check kids price)
$185 per person for 7.5 hours including food, 4.5 hours should be low crowds.

One thing I like about your date is both parks close at 8pm. I think that would help split the event crowd. When we went islands closed at 7 and studios at 9. It really seemed to put most people on the same path starting in islands since it closed earlier. We did have until 130am but they have to close certain rides by midnight... gringotts, RRR, hulk, fast and furious, and transformers closed. Mummy closed for an hour (10 to 11). Also food started 1 hr after park close and food from QS places ended at midnight.

For our experience...
Pros
Some rides were walk ons
Free food
Less time in heat if it's hot out

Cons
Crowd moved together a lot
Rides not being run as efficiently during the day made wait times longer on some
Food places were mobbed/slow... I think part was the parks closing at different times, so islands got swamped at 8 and studios at 10. We ate at a QS place last month on a normal day that we had eaten at during our event and the line was just as long but it took maybe a quarter of a time to get through on the regular day, the event lines were sooo slow.
We had a planning mistake which meant we didnt get to use our dining card, which subtracted some from the value for me but that was on us.
We tried to use our dining card for a drink from a cart before islands closed but they wouldnt let us get in the line 10min before closing :confused3 that was frustrating because there were 2 people in line, 10 to 15min out and all we wanted were bottled drinks but we couldn't get in line...

Take with a grain of salt as weve almost always had EP when weve gone... this led to DH saying he would rather just pay for EP or a hotel with it. That's not a straight comparison obviously bc that's on top of ticket prices. I think it could be good value especially with the parks closing at the same time and earlier. I'd maybe go again. And things may have changed since we went back in April, since they will have done several more of them for OI before the UCT one.
