Sorry off topic again, but I forgot to mention that the grassy area where I normally watch Happily Ever After was reserved. I asked a cast member what it was reserved for and she said reservations for Cinderellas Royal Table that included the viewing area and that it was new. I hadn't heard of that so just mentioning in case that's news to anyone else also.

Hilton Honors FN Certificate DP and update...
Thanks to @Lain and others who told me to call Hilton directly because they can see the FN Cert before you get the email. For some DP, I got the 130K points deposited on 9/29. I still have not received the email BUT when I called today (a little over 4 weeks after the points) it was there!!! I was so excited and when I was checking Tokyo Conrad award availability (I had almost given up on Tokyo Conrad because there hasn't been a room available for weeks so I was going to use the FN for another trip), there happened to be a standard room available. I was able to book Tokyo Conrad! The representative was telling me it was the last standard room they had! This community has been so helpful. Thank you!!!

Hoping some of the folks on here can help me. It appears I have been invited to an "After the Wedding Celebration" on fb. Is this a thing now (they had a family only surprise wedding over a month ago)? How the heck do I respond? I rarely use fb and never post. Is it okay if I just text the bride and let her know that we won't be able to make it (I already sent a gift)? I don't want to seem rude and not reply but this is unchartered territory for me! FTR would love to go, but logistics don't permit (it's a 4 hour flight away and a rather expensive trip for us).

I read a review on that hotel and it looks AMAZING!

If it's a facebook event invite there is a way to mark yourself as going, no, maybe etc

We did something like that since only the people at our destination wedding knew about it.

My favorite place to stay is a little rental directly on Punalu'u Beach (North Shore) If you want to look it up, it's called Hale Aha Kai. You can just see it there
Aloha hulagirl, I was doing a web search for Haleaha Kai and your post here came up in the search engine. This is my house! I no longer have a web site ... unfortunately the C&C of Honolulu forced most of us to stop renting our homes. I loved that I made so many people happy by sharing my home with them. The place has always brought so much happiness to my guests... it really seems to be a magic place. Anyway, thank you for making my day. I always wonder if people still have fond memories of their time in Punalu`u. A hui ho! Deborah

I'm thinking 5 nights at DoubleTree Suites Anaheim for Disneyland, then renting a car and driving down to San Diego for 2 nights at Hotel del Coronado using FN certs (if dh's cert ever shows up). How does that sound? Booking flights tomorrow so I need to decide. I already have DT booked so I know I'm set on my arrival date/location. I'm drawn to beach so would like to include that in our trip and no other Hilton beach location drew me in.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if this was still the date. I've been gone a week at WDW and over 80 pages behind!

In case anyone is interested, I'll share some thoughts from my trip last week.

RESORTS
This was my first time at AKV(home), CCV and SSR.
We stayed 5 nights at AKV Jambo. Beautiful resort, loved, loved, loved the animals outside the balcony. Boma was excellent as expected. Pool was also very nice...DD3 enjoyed the slide.
The one thing that I disliked was the room location. This was the first time my faxed room request on touring plans did not come through. I requested a room close to pool, Zebra trail. I was on the opposite side, Kudu trail, as far as you could get. That walk was horrible and made us not even want to go to the room to change for the pool after walking the parks all day, just to walk all the way back to the pool. It also wasn't convenient to fill our drink mugs at the quick service restaurant. They had nice Halloween mugs though and a great spiked coffee.

We stayed 1 night at CCV. I did not put in a room request and we had the best room! Right near the elevator that led to the pool, and we could see the fireworks at MK! That was a nice surprise. Room was great with the wood floor, and we enjoyed the boat transportation to MK early in the morning. We attended the Snow White Dinner at Artist Point which was very cool. The Evil Queen was so in character and had everyone laughing. I'd definitely stay here again.

SSR was our least favorite. It didn't feel Disney to me and it was just so large. I requested Grandstand and got Main Entrance?? Looking on the resort map it had no food or pool and you needed to bus to both by the looks of it. I'm not familiar with the resort so I could be wrong. Anyway, I decided to ask for a new room location after having a terrible location at AKV. I asked to be put in any section that had a pool so DD could swim without getting on a bus. They happily obliged and put us in Paddock section. It had a nice pool and DD really enjoyed the kiddie splash area there. I had an excellent drink at the pool bar as well, Poolside Iced Tea. Room seemed a little dated. I did not try any of the restaurants in the main section.

FOOD
I loved my meal at Homecomin the most. I had the Fried chicken, doughnuts, and mac and cheese. That mac and cheese is soooo good! DH said his meal was just ok, but he isn't a big southern food person.
Tusker House was very good, I especially liked the salmon. I found Tusker similar to Boma. I enjoyed both buffets.
The Snow White dinner was good for the character interaction but not my favorite food.
Akershus breakfast was actually pretty good, of course DD loved it with all the princesses. I had some sort of spiked coffee here too (on the dining plan if you can't tell, lol)
San Angel Inn dinner- I wanted to love this one but odds were working against me. DD was so tired and not behaving or eating. I ordered the red snapper, which I've never had before, and didn't really love it. The chocolate mousse was very good, though. Not in a rush to go back.
Quick service worth mentioning- the jerk chicken lettuce wraps at Pecos Bills! I was very surprised how good these were. DD really liked the breakfast waffle sandwich at Sleepy Hollow. Corn dog nuggets at Casey's are always a good go-to.

We tried a few things at Food and Wine. DH and I both loved the scallops from the Wine and Dine Studio, definitely our favorite. A close second was the butternut squash ravioli from the same booth. YUM!
Other things we tried worth mentioning- Passion fruit slushy from France, Frozen Rose from Alps, Filet from Canada, Lamp Chop from Australia, and liquid nitro chocolate truffle from Chocolate Studio..mmmm.
DH had the spam from Hawaii and liked it. I had the tuna and it was just ok.

I was able to get my Remi passholder magnet and Minnie coasters! The lines for these were the longest I've ever seen them. They had a line in the breezeway. Last time I got a magnet I just walked into the store and got one easily so wasn't expecting that. The weather was hotter than I had expected and the MNSSHP I attended was crazy busy, not sure I'd do it again. We went dressed as Gabby Gabby (me) Bo Peep (DD) and Woody (DH). We got tons of candy which we carried on to the plane.

All in all though, we had a great 8 day trip. DD3 was tall enough to ride some new rides including her new favorite..Hi Ho ride (SDMT). We rode 5 times throughout the trip. Her second new favorite was Kali River Rapids. She thought it was hilarious to get squirt by the elephant, and then squirt other people with water, haha. She met 26 characters in total, and although I was completely exhausted by the end, she was happy and it was worth it :)
Sounds great! We are going down in 2 weeks.
I don’t remember the jerked chicken at Pecos,, sounds good!
I’ve never eaten at San Angel. I always think I want to try it and then read something negative so we never do. 🤓
I love any slush from France. Had the passion fruit one a couple years ago and loved it too. Haven’t tried the frozen Rose? Will have to look for that.
One of my friends just returned from Disney and also said it was very hot.
Sounds like your DD had a great time! Appreciate your tips!

Gonna kinda do a bragging post here....sorry, LOL.

This weekend was my friends annual Halloween party. Back in 2016, I started Contrave (it's a drug) and managed to lose 70lbs. When the fiance dumped me in Jan, I managed to drop to 75lbs loss total (I had gained about 10lbs....so it was a 15lbs loss at the time). I found out the ex suddenly got married at the end of September to the girl he started to date after me. She's 8 years younger than me (I'm 10 years older than him), but she looks 15 years older than me, LOL. I know he's not happy, he's gained a bunch of weight and everyone (my friends) was commenting how bad he looks in his "wedding" photos. He's not smiling, etc.

Anyways, yesterday I turned 43.....And it was great to put this photo on my FB to show just how far I have come! I know the ex is probably jealous AF, (he stalks my FB several times a day) so it's also nice to rub it in, LOL. Now if I could just find a flipping guy! UGH, online dating (or dating at all) really sucks! LOL.

The left is Halloween 2015, and the right is obv 2019 (Friday night). Okay brag over....back to CC talk, LOL.

I hope you have a great trip and get cooler weather! Those slushes are the best. I actually got two, haha. The frozen rose is near Norway. Let me know what other great things you find. 🙂

That's too bad about the timing. I feel like we keep missing you by just a tiny bit. Last year in S. America / Antarctica and again next month! We live so close -- we should definitely get together! I will definitely post a review on the hotel. Plan on taking some fancy pictures with my new iPhone 11 max (gift from dh last week!).

I would love to get together. It would be fun to meet IRL after the near misses!

I think you're smart as the airlines figure out how low HI will dip with SW entering the market.

I'm not sure the drive to IAD or DCA would be worth it for me...I guess it would depend on how cheaply I could fly F/J to Europe or Africa. Right now I'm sort of the positioning flight princess (don't want to take away any titles from @calypso726 or her DH 😝 ).

And a side note, I've flown in and out of ORF since the early 80s...it's so scary that is really hasn't changed much in all that time. It's weird.

We can share titles here. I wound up having to position to Boston in order to use the BA travel together ticket for a seat in F to Ireland. I didn’t want to position on the return just to fly in F so we are slumming it back to Miami in J.

Let’s go Astros!!!!

Anyone else watching the World Series? I am on my phone anxiously half-watching the game with my dad and DH. Posting here so I don’t get too crazy this early in the game.

I also wanted to share that I got a 10% off coupon for getting a shot at Randall’s today. I got two shots for $0 with insurance and two 10% off coupons for my trouble. Sadly not valid for gift cards or my 12 pack of Karbach, but it will probably be useful for holiday food shopping.

I just booked the cross-Australia train trip for next September! Dh and I have wanted to do this ever since we saw it on some PBS show about train travel eons ago :cheer2: I can't believe it's really going to happen:lovestruc

Still waiting for the flights home to open up :surfweb: My guess is either November 1 (because a month's worth of Air Canada flights appeared on Oct 1) or 3 weeks from now (based on how United flights are loading each week). I am not handling the wait well:scared::laughing:

Don’t be silly! All advice welcome. I just don’t see myself trying to cash out as the miles do have value for us...that’s why I got into MR’s to begin with. I’m just trying to not be paranoid but would feel better of some of my MR’s were in skymiles (which is depleted right now). I have almost 400k. So my thought was to transfer half and leave the rest in MR’s. I would just pay the cash $99 tax fee. Any thoughts?

I would just leave them as MRs until you need them. Sometimes we book flights using MRs so we earn Skymiles. Also, with the last Delta Vacations sale, I transferred MRs to each of our DDs to book flights (They are AUs on our EDP). This way I used up the small of amount of miles that they had and didn't use up DHs (who has status and change award flights for free).

Thank you so much! But I hope it’s not too cool. I will probably end up getting two also! We will be there for 10 days so lots of time to try a lot of things. I’ll let you know what else I find. 😍

My mom doesn’t have a Facebook though lol. She would never know how to use it and honestly probably wouldn’t care. My dad has one but he doesn’t put any pictures or anything. He mainly uses it to look at pictures of my nephews. I don’t have Snapchat and never wanted it. Seems pointless to me. I have Instagram, Twitter (which I never use), and Pinterest. Dh wants us to make a Facebook just to share pictures of the baby with people. I wanted to do a shared google photos folder but I got voted out lol.
Yeah but people act like it’s hard. “I don’t have FB and it’s impossible that I get an account“. What? Just sign up. I didn’t have FB until a good friend had twins prematurely and I knew she was posting pictures of them. My dad was on hospice so I didn’t have time to talk or email with her frequently so I signed up for FB to keep up when I had time. I signed up for Twitter because there was some contest on there and I won some stuff so it worked out. Then Marriott gave points on Twitter, and I have tweeted at multiple companies who are slow to respond and gotten results. I do read some stuff on Twitter and follow some people, though I don’t check there every day. It’s not a big commitment.

The place has always brought so much happiness to my guests... it really seems to be a magic place. Anyway, thank you for making my day. I always wonder if people still have fond memories of their time in Punalu`u. A hui ho!
I could not love this ANY more and you made my night too. Hello all you lovely Budget Board people. @DeborahU and her Hawaii magic just pulled me back out of lurkdom.:) So nice to see you all again. I've been busy with a new addition to our family. This is Toby Tarley. How is everybody?IMG_2890.jpg
