I know there's some Gilmore Girls fans here... I just booked the Warner Brothers Studio tour that includes lunch at Lorelai's!! My kids and I will be in LA for 3 days between Xmas and New Years. Any suggestions for fun things for two teenage girls? Also, looking for suggestions for hotels in LA. I don't think I can get the Waldorf Astoria BH. I have Marriott points & certificate and Hilton points and FN certificate (pending but hopefully I will get in the next 2 weeks).

On another note, the guitar hotel at the Hard Rock Seminole finally opened last week. Dd and I have watched it being built for the past few years (it's just off the turnpike) and with her going off to college next year, I decided to look into prices for a 1 night stay. I ended up booking Saturday, November 23rd because it was one of the only weekend nights they have available until the early spring (and it's the weekend before TG so she won't have much school work). The show that night is a comedian named Chris D'Elia (I'd never heard of him, but watched a few clips and he looks pretty funny), so I bought 2 tickets for us! I'm really looking forward to this mini vacation! I priced out a pool cabana for the day, but it was an easy pass (something like $525.00 for the day + min. f&b of $350.00 + $150.00 service charge -- no thanks!).

For those that haven't heard of the new hotel, here's a link. Apparently there's a laser show every night on the side of the guitar / hotel. Should be interesting!

That hotel is about 15 minutes from my house LOL Sounds like a fun vacation. Enjoy!

26 was a hard one for me! Just married, no longer just out of school or “early” 20’s. Then, one of my teenage patients lumped me in with her parents saying that I wouldn’t like “The Simpsons” because her parents didn’t like them! Crushed me!
Lol wow. I get made fun of at my gym because I don’t understand people’s references but they’re all older than me. I have one instructor that picks on me during her entire class and it’s so funny. It doesn’t bother me or anything but I really don’t know half the people or things she talks about.

I don’t think they do DL transfer bonuses or at least they haven’t in the past 3-4 years I’ve been doing this. There is a small charge $0.0006/mile max of $99 or you can also use MRs for the fee to transfer the miles. I know you’re sort of over Amex but living in SLC I think this is a good idea for you (apologies for unsolicited advice😕).

Don’t be silly! All advice welcome. I just don’t see myself trying to cash out as the miles do have value for us...that’s why I got into MR’s to begin with. I’m just trying to not be paranoid but would feel better of some of my MR’s were in skymiles (which is depleted right now). I have almost 400k. So my thought was to transfer half and leave the rest in MR’s. I would just pay the cash $99 tax fee. Any thoughts?

I totally get that! My coworkers range from 22-34 and I’m 54. I have no one that understands my pop culture references. But at least they all grew up on Disney movies of the‘90’s. At least I understand some of their pop culture references since I have kids in that age range.

I talked on the phone with my mom tonight and she couldn’t understand why some people have a Facebook AND an Instagram lol. So I got to try explaining that to her

I would love to do that! I’d have to go alone since DH and DS would not enjoy it.

I’m your mom’s age and I get it. I have FB, Twitter, and Instagram. I don’t do Snapchat though. I mainly use FB to keep up with people I rarely see. I have refused to be friends with people who have requested it (not FB friends with coworkers). I use Twitter to follow sports and of course hotel and airlines to help with issues.

Don't you know facebook is for old people? My teenagers tell me that.
Yeah but lots of 20 somethings use it or at least some I work with. I guess 25 is old. Lol. Seems to be a contest to see how many FB friends you can have. I guess to prove how popular you are.

I would think they could look at the over all picture. OK person has opened 5 cards in the last 2 years and has utilization of 1%, no missed payments, credit history of 30+ years, longest card open 19 years, a customer of Chase for 10 plus years with lots of spend and credit score near 800. Obviously this person is not a risk.

That is how most banks determine if they are going to give you a card. They look at the whole picture. Not hmm......5 cards we don't want you. It is what it is though. I guess it's up to me to decide if Chase is worth the trouble.
Chase computers aren’t self actualized (but soon the robots will be coming for us 🤣) and the employees who handle manual approvals/recon barely understand their jobs and are very low paid people pushing paper. For context: The underwriters approving my multi-million dollar deals in the corporate space are paid $40k-$60k. As it relates to CCs, It’s just easier to make these things black and white. Chase isn’t in the business of human underwriting of CC apps - there’s no way the apps “slipping thru the cracks” of their approval algorithms (is getting denied) are worth the expense.

Did you try linking using the confirmation number from the purchase? This is how all my party ticket purchases are linked, instead of with individual ticket numbers. Haven't done stand alone park tickets in a while, so I don't recall how those are done.
I did. That didn’t work 😕

Yes if your 15 and 16 then 25 is ancient. Gen Z uses snap chat, tick-tock, twitter, and several others. Anyone using Facebook is a boomer even if you're 20.

I guess I thought that family boarding was for those that need extra help or time. Like car seats and strollers and stuff. To give them extra time. My family likes to sit together even though my kids are older so I purchase Early Bird check in for all of us to guarantee that. Just frustrating when I pay $100 each way and then 30-40 people get to go ahead of you.

I think if my kids were younger I would embrace the family boarding I know its not going to change and I still love Southwest. And the main location with so many families is of course Orlando where we fly to the most.

I agree it is great for those with young kids. Just venting I guess. Especially when you see the people that abuse it and dont have any young children or they allow extended family and friends to get in line also.
I understand your vent. I really do and I’d be frustrated as well if I bought EBCI and then a bunch of abusers boarded before me.
Orlando flights are really the only place I’ve ever seen the crazy family boarding. And of course, it’s coming and going.

How fun!! I think we might have seen this hotel when we were in FL this past July. Is that where it is? We were going to do an airboat tour in the everglades and we looked over in the distance and there was this enormous guitar shaped building. Like so big it dwarfed everything around it. Looked really cool!!

So, how does this relate to people such as me, who are over 5/24, get a 'just for you' and get approved? Is there human interaction? Or do they just send the app through a different set of algorithms?

OT but Speaking of older kids, my oldest will be 26 in January. Does anyone know have any experience with keeping their older kids on their health insurance if still dependent? She moved home and is back in school right now.
