You could still try for the all Biz route, or hope 50k offers are available on a personal (afaik the old inflight links were still working).

I just flew SW yesterday and the 50K promotion was still available, but I guess things change overnight.

I went to look at my Chase business cards to see if I had any offers (no) and discovered I had misread the CL on my new card, $6000 instead of $1000 I had been looking at the CL for an old card that I had decreased last week

I've been waffling about plans for our USO trip just before the holidays. This is supposed to be a RELAXING pre-holiday weekend, so expecting some time just hanging at the hotel and swimming and stuff. I had originally booked a small suite at RPR for 2 days, then a larger suite at Sapphire Falls for 2 days. But looking at the holiday activities at each hotel, it looked PBH will have a more festive atmosphere that weekend.

Checked point values, and for 10k more URs, I was able to switch out our RPR room for a club level 2 queen room at PBH. I figured that for the first part of the trip we can put up with all being in one room, and having breakfast/snacks available will be nice if we starting our days early and planning a long afternoon break. Then when the kids are getting in each others hair and we need a little more space, we will be moving to the other hotel .

Jeans. Just very strange. No changes, nothing new in the wash. I'm so pale I always notice when clothing bleeds color on me lol.

I really loved the 28 and Main line of guys' shirts from Disney and one of the first ones I bought was a turquoise Jungle Cruise one and I've washed it so many times and it still bleeds color on me. I've ruined 2 or 3 nude colored bras with it.

This is kinda niche but it's a good bonus for a no AF card - 60k/2k. The Premier card's standard bonus is 80k/2k for $89. The Traveler card also gets the 4th night free on points bookings benefit. Aside from the bonus, this is where it gets useful. Only Traveler and Premier cardholders get this benefit.

If you have the old Select card with the $49 AF, this would be a good pairing as you get 10% rebate on points bookings from that card.

I say this is niche because it's not normally worthy of a 5/24 slot. You'd have to have special circumstances for this to make sense. In my case I have the old Select card, I'm in Sapphire purgatory for another 3 years, I have more cards dropping off my 5/24 stats with less personal cards to fill them in the meantime, I would consider staying at an IHG property for 4 nights, I like small MSRs. Since you can hold all 3 cards at the same time, may as well get a bonus for it.

But this is also good news for Premier cardholders as you should now have a no AF PC option to keep that 4th night free bene. It also gets the cell phone insurance and what not we were discussing.

Whats this about 10% points rebate? That's on the $49 card? Is that new?
My AF is due on both of our $49 cards and I just can't decide what the heck to do with them at this point.

I teach engineering and architecture, you're speaking my language, LOL. I have 5 3D printers (Strasys is the work horse 2 Formlabs and a few others), 2 Universal Lasers (that are 18x33 beds) and a CamMaster CNC I've yet to unbox.

Have you done the acrylic "night lights" on your laser? Those are fun!

Yeah I have done dozens of the acrylic lights. In fact I have more stock of acrylic than wood at this point I love working with it. You do any robotics lessons with OS kits? Looking for some projects to do with DD7 who is very much into robots and making things. We just got the JJRobots arm so printed that this week and we started assembling it yesterday. I found full kits but she thinks it so much more fun to print or cut everything ourselves.

I have the Carvey from Inventables, my colleague has the X-carve. They are both great machines!

Carvey uses the same software ect if you go stock but I have ventured out to Aspire and PicSender for GCode streaming. However since I got the laser I have not done much on the CNC. Acrylic is just so much fun.

My thoughts on the SW Companion Pass Change... UNPOPULAR OPINION: This is a Good Thing!

I've been following "all things Southwest" for 5+ years now and I can tell you the SW CP was a largely unknown thing back in 2014 when I first started pursuing it regularly. At this point it seems EVERYBODY and their brother knows about it now. I've had the CP come up in casual conversation at business lunches with people who are decidedly not churners but read something about it.

I have feared the death of the CP for a couple years now! When they killed hotel transfers counting that looked like the initial nail in the coffin. With the exception of the 80k new card offer, Chase has also been a little more stingy with the "increased offers" as of late. We haven't seen a 60k/$2k in awhile, have we? I also find DoC's comment about taking issue with the timing to be disingenuous. They gave AMPLE notice. When Southwest announced the change to the hotel transfers they were met with tons of resistance because they did not give ample notice and they ended up backing off and allowing additional time before implementing the change. They have informed us 11 weeks before 2020 even begins that you now need to earn 125k to get a CP. Seems like good notice to me considering technically I can't earn points towards CP until Jan 1, and at that time I'd need to earn 125k then.

Why is this a good thing?...

• Well, the common person will not be able to figure this out. They won't pursue business cards, they won't MS, they will just let it go. OR they will earn the CP by spending TENS of thousands of dollars on their card. SW and Chase will both be happy with that outcome.
• Companion Pass should live on then - if it becomes harder to earn, there will be less pressure to eliminate or further tweak the program
• 125k isn't that hard... even if you missed the 80k biz offer (which by the way that offer still loads HERE I think)...you can do the 2 biz cards. 70k + 60k = 130k. My math says that's a CP.
• There are also a ton of other ways to get to 125k without 2 biz cards. Perhaps you might lose a few months of the CP polishing off your 125k but that's better than if they killed the benefit altogether.

(EDIT: Oh and the no expiration is pretty nice too! For those with huge point stashes who never pay for flights it will make things easier)

So do not fret my friends but rather rejoice that instead of killing one of churning's GREATEST benefits, that they have actually protected it for the savvy churner!! If you have been following my advice to earn the CP via 2 Biz Cards this change does NOT affect you at all

Good point. I personally don't feel like the actual inflight offer will decrease unless the "standard" offer does, so if you have a SW flight or a flight in an airport with their kiosks, that's a good route. With the Performance Biz just out with a high offer, I wonder what that would mean for the odds of an increase for the other cards this season outside of that?

It was a screening of Say Anything (one of my favorite movies of all time), with a 90 minute conversation after. He did talk a little about Better Off Dead. It's not his favorite. He said the finished film was not quite the way he was told it would be done. But the people love it, so that makes him happy.
