It is B&W but it does look like you. Better quality than the Costco photo ID. It isn’t actually printed but just shown on the screen.
ok...sounds like it's pretty specific who can use it.thanks

Got approved for my CIP! Limit is relatively low, but I'll take it. And hopefully the referral from DW's card tracked. Any recent DPs of how long referral points take to show up as pending?

Also, any recent issues with using CIP on Plastiq? Easiest way for me to meet the $5K spend is to pay our rent via Plastiq.

•

•

I may have to change my cell phone bills to IHG card now that they've added cellphone protection. I can't remember exactly what protections I have on other cards, but for some reason this one stands out as I do not intend to cancel the card. It's really not bad for $49. One discrepancy - first part says no more price protection, 2nd part says purchase protection - wonder what the difference is?

Same for the IHG Premier card, but it's up to $800 per claim.

Can I get a quick summary of what you have to do for the cell coverage? Pay the bill in full with the card every month? What if you only pay some months, will you get coverage for the month you pay it? Does it cover multiple phones on your bill?
Thanks!

Just got approved yesterday for the Southwest Performance business card (yay!), and I’m hoping you experts can answer a couple of questions for me. I just realized that the card comes with 4 priority boardings each year.

I read through the terms and conditions, but I’m trying to figure out how this will work on a practical level. It sounds like I can’t try to purchase priority boarding until I get to the airport. I usually buy early bird check in. If I want to take advantage of the free priority boarding, I assume I would forgo earlybird check-in. But my question is, what happens if priority boarding is not available when I get to the airport? Then I am stuck with my junky regular boarding position? Yuck.

Also, I have a SW companion. Can I use my priority boardings on my companion too? Or just on myself?

Finally, I have a trip next Wednesday that I would like to use the priority boardings on if I think it will work out. Any chance I will get my card before then? Is there any benefit to calling Chase and asking them to expedite my card, or is it too late for that?

Many thanks!

Whale watch cruise and/or outrigger canoeing to see sea turtles

On your way to the North Shore, you can see sea turtles at Laniakea Beach.

Did someone mention sea turtles?

We spent about an hour yesterday at Paradise Cove beach, which is just a short walk from Aulani, and we counted at least four different sea turtles. We did our best to keep our distance (at least 10 feet) but they kept swimming up to and around us, and I couldn't help but snap a few pics.

Paradise Cove beach is a favorite spot for sea turtles. The beach is sheltered by some rocks that keep the waves from coming in, so the water is calm and fairly shallow. There are lots of fish and tide pools as well. Bring some goggles or snorkeling gear. We've been when there’s just one, and other times none. The last time we visited, there were no sea turtles but there was a monk seal swimming around. This visit was the most turtles we've seen at a time.

Congrats on the approval party:
-you do have to purchase it at the airport....once they let me when I was checking bags prior to security...the second time at the gate

- if all the A1-A15 slots are taken you will have to board with whatever number you have

-you will have to purchase the Priority boarding for your companion if you want them to board in a A1-A15 slot

You could try calling and see if it’s possible to expedite the card

I can't remember who else is having this issue, but a week or two ago a few of us were talking about Hilton support points that hadn't posted. I chatted with Amex about mine last week and was told it could take up to 12 weeks for them to post. Then, yesterday I logged in and the support points were there! I have no idea if the chat helped or if it was just a coincidence, but for people still waiting, there is hope that the missing support points will appear.

Can I get reimbursed for my companion’s priority boarding or just mine? ( isn’t that how it works? You pay for the priority boarding with your SW card and then they reimburse you as a statement credit?)

Thanks so much for this info!

DoC did a write up. No one is familiar because they are literally brand new as of a few days ago. Not having time to research them out I passed as I want to know something about any company I give my SSN to. MtM seems to be the first person to have actually received the card.

The promo is dead btw :(

Thanks. I held off signing up as I had never heard of them.

Replying before I catch up today, so I apologize if I'm repeating things already said.

Flights to LHR have crazy high fees. We do our best to avoid them and tend to fly into CDG because it works well from our local airport. There may be better options for them depending where they are going and their departure airport. If we just want to see London I just deal with it and pay the fees. In 2020 we decided to take the train to Paris, stay there for a few days for fun, and then fly home from there. There are still fees, but it's less than half what we were quoted when we looked at booking BA through LRH. Dublin is another option if they are just visiting the UK.

Hotels aren't made for families in general. We struggle every single time because there are 3 of us. I can't imagine what I'd do for 5. I have read (but have no actual experience) that places in the UK like Premier Inns and Holiday Inns have what they call "family rooms" that will accommodate larger parties. I haven't found anything like that at the higher end hotels that I've looked at. DD traveled to Europe last spring break with her college buddies and they found that Air B'nBs worked really well for a large party. Normal hotel rooms in Europe typically allow only 2 people per room.

As for CCards, having one chip and pin would be nice for the London underground. We used Apple Pay which worked on 2 out of our 3 phones (yeah, that was fun) because we didn't have one. Mostly we use the Platinum card, the Gold AMEX, and the CSR when abroad.
Thank you ALL for the helpful replies ( I can't figure out multi quotes) just one more thought for this trip... I'm thinking it might be smart for both players to get the IHG card at current offers? thats 250k IHG between them, and I see a number of options in and around London area..... how is IHG in general over in London or Paris areas? (I'm thinking to fill in some days etc) I see availability for 2 person rooms,so they'd obviously have to book two at a time to make it work..... but then again,if they have slow their roll with chase, this wouldn't be a good move, right? since the next opportunity comes in December, and it's better to keep the cup full than to get sidetracked(?) I'm assuming hotel branded cards are a part of the timing also....

Yes you get a statement credit for the cost on your card...you could use all 4 slots on the same flight and SW will credit your card for all of them...the credits don’t have to be used by the cardholder

And, I was trying to figure that out. Not easy to navigate all this credit card stuff. When I've looked previously you did have to have consistency in time that the card was used for the bill. I think
It does cover multiple phones, but since this particular card has a max of just 1 thousand with only 2 claims per year allowed up to $600 per claim, if I had to deal with an account with multiple phones I'd look carefully for the highest coverage.

Right at this moment, I'm trying to capture 2 other offers, so won't be changing to this prior to January. And about then I'll be looking at a new phone.

I'm assuming CIP? Very basic rundown:

- Pay bill in full with your CIP
- Coverage begins the day after you make your payment, and I believe ends at the end of each month. (See if you can get your carrier to switch your statement close date to the last day of the month so you can pay then or on the 1st)
- Covers all phones/lines on the bill under the cardholder's name. (Doesn't cover separate bills that have someone else's name on it even if you pay with your CIP)
- Covers damage, theft, and accidental parting; does not cover "mysterious disappearances"
- Covers up to $600/claim, 3 claims/12 months; $100 deductible.
