For some reason I really like the Mazda 5s. I think both of those have great safety features. For some reason Honda's been lagging with adding Honda Sensing to the CRV.

This would be our first purchase of a new Mazda. All of our other cars have been Toyotas and they have lived up to their reputation for reliability. Thinking about a Mazda since MIL gave us her 2004 Mazda 6, which has also been reliable--no major issues in 15 years, although she let it sit for long periods without driving it so it only has 130,000 miles.

Booked my spur of the moment December trip today. I love having points and being able to do this. Me, DS20 and DD18.

Airfare SW Points - 40,053 points total (could thing I am going for CP soon am out of points)

Hotel - Swan using USEAAMILES.com (was a bit cheaper than AAVacations.com). Used all of DH's AA points for 3 nights 74,700 points plus $73. 1 night of my AA Points at 29,600 points. (Will I have to call and get a Conf # that will work in the Disney site or should the #'s I have work? They don't yet but may be too early.

Tickets - From Undercover Tourist. 3 - 2 day Mid Magic Tickets and 3 - MVMCP Tickets. Total $894. Using $550 from statement credit on US Bank Cash Back Business Card.

Not sure we will do any table service this time. Last time we had the dining plan and could't even eat snacks as we were always full. Doing MK Party, HS and then Epcot which is open until 11:30 that night so also going to try and do the Candlelight Processional.

Not telling the kids I booked this. Will probably tell them on Thanksgiving break so they have a few weeks to prepare...

So fastpasses will be coming up shortly. I can do MK and Epcot but am so confused now on HS. Have not been keeping up with the Star Wars stuff as I figured I was not going back until 2021. Now I have to figure out what to try for if I even get anything there.

I did it. I cancelled my Amex Ameriprise Plat.

You know I didn't have nearly the connection with that card as I do my CSR but I still feel a little sad.... Like I need to say some kind words about my Plats accomplishments during its brief life before I lay it to rest in my cancelled card binder.

Aaaaaand Jetblue Biz and Alaska Air Biz are no goes. No I will not provide you with spring documentation TYVM! Such a sad churning time in this house 😢 😂.

Another update on this - I got really curious about what happened to other $1000, so I made some phone calls this morning and found out that they had tried to put in on one of my giftcards I used to pay with, but since the max is $1000 it was rejected (the card had a small balance), so they issued a new card and sent an email with the card number. The problem is they had my email address wrong (my last name is spelled lots of different ways - no one ever gets it right!). Anyways, they corrected it and reissued it to me and so now I have the full $1563! I'm not planning on touching this money for a loooooong time, I'm assuming they'll eventually figure it out. But if not - well, maybe another F&W trip next year!

I had to stop reading F&W reviews, it makes me want to go back again this year. The food was so good! I had the maple-bourbon cheesecake 3x, along with the passionfruit slushie Martini from France! Actually almost everything we tried was delicious - really only one or two things we didn't care for.
Thanks for the reminder about the passionfruit slush - I remember trying that a couple years ago and loved it! Definitely plan o get that! YUM!

Rookie churning mistake of the day: helped my Mom calculate her spend on her Delta Biz last week and she's been watching for bonus points. Been a week and no points (DL's are very fast bonuses if you haven't been screwed over by Amex) so I went back through- I calculated the AF as part of the spend. So 101 I can't even. (At least she's still got a couple months so nbd!) DOUBLE CHECK YOUR MATH FOLKS. EVEN YOU CHURNING VETS!

I’m planning on buying a new car this month too. Currently have a 1998 Toyota Corolla that has 175,000 miles on it. I’ve had it for 14 years (2nd owner) and it still runs great, I’m just ready for a upgrade...also looking at CRV, Rav4 or I really like the look of the VW Tiguan. We’re going to finance, so I’m wondering which banks play nice with Plastiq for car payments, in case we ever find ourselves needing to use that method to meet a MSR.

I’m also now thinking it might be a good idea to wait until Black Friday to buy. I haven’t gotten a new personal CC in over 6 months so my report looks good for financing. I really need a few more cards soon though to book a trip for Thanksgiving 2020. If I apply for a personal card now will that undo all my good CC behavior and piss off lenders?

....and DS got approved for CIP!!! :cool1: unlike my other ds, he's super excited to get the card and start on his MSR....he wants to be able to travel with his friends! My other DS feels that cc's are from the devil and only has his one card b/c I made him get it when he started out on his own... how can two kids be so different???
My DS is 27, and he has an Amazon CC. That's all he wants. I suggested a second as a backup, he said he would use his debit if needed. He's really not interested in money management at all either, I have access to all his accounts and invest for him.

My DD 29 got a CSR when it first came out, and has a few others. She pays much more attention to all things money related.

DD 24 surprisingly got rejected a couple of times when she first started working as a software engineer, she now has a couple of Capital One cards. I feel like you have to be ready to pay attention to manage churning, so I haven't pushed it. Her salary is the highest of the 3 kids but she's not into the card stuff.

It looks like it has to be 2 separate functions.
I booked mine as a separate night and booked 2 points nights together for 3 nights for next summer. I haven't had a lot of luck calling the main number - they sort of defer to the hotel you are booking. The hotel has combined my nights into 1 stay when I've checked in. I've never actually called the hotel directly, but then what I've been doing has worked.

In using free nights with most hotels, I've found that usually they are stand alone and I have to do cash, points rooms on a separate ticket. That is probably what I'd want anyway in case of changes down the road. I have seven yearly free nights, Marriott, IHG, Hyatt, plus Radisson points that I juggle, along with DVC points.
When I booked a stay with free night earlier this year, I booked my whole stay as soon as I could find points nights open. That took a couple months. Once I booked with points, I called and they applied the free night. I’m a little afraid if I cancel my current booking, the points nights will be gone. It’s probably paranoia, but it was so hard to get 2 weekend nights last time I needed a multi night bookin.

Thanks! Yeah, looking at 2016/2017s on Carmax. AWD is a requirement and we both like our cars to be fully loaded as far as things like heated seats and sunroofs go. I bought the base package for my current car without any of that and I do really miss having all of that, so I won't skimp on my next car. Wouldn't mind a Toyota, but the Highlanders have gotten a little too big and are just above what I'd like to pay.

I have one more month to pay on our last car that has a car payment. Plan on driving them til they die and hopefully saving up enough cash for the next one. But I also plan on it being fully loaded, I deserve it at this point in my life. :rotfl2: This week I took my parent's car to drop them off at the airport and my mom let me know that I could feel free to drive it while they were away. Me: No nav, and I have to manually move my seat?!? I'll stick with my car. :D

This is my day for discovering whoopsies. First, the 2 cent balance on my BOA card, which I may or may not have noticed if @DisneyMandC hadn't mentioned offers.

2nd, I double booked myself on Nov 5th. I have a standard room at AKV Jambo as well as my regular reservation. I'm debating just keeping it, but should probably cancel it. (could book a dining plan for 1 night for all 3 of us on that room.) I need to decide as by Sunday it's holding points so I have until tomorrow to drop it. Too bad its not a Friday or Saturday - someone would rent it.
