On the bright side, they spelled MILs name correctly at the Hilton out in Cali finally so their stay this week tracked to her account. Plus I went in and filled out the missing stay request from their stay in July, because they spelled her name wrong and she did not bother to correct it or attach her Hilton number, and got those points/nights for her too. Now she has 26k random Hilton points lol

Yeah. I just don't know the last time I checked in where they didn't want that card or another for incidentals, so I was surprised to see it on mine vs MILs from when they checked in

What's his issue with Five Guys? I like both, but in n out isn't cheap either. I enjoyed it last year in SF twice, but with Dick's so close and Pick Quick an option if we're going south, along with five guys being close, I don't miss it. I have enough good options and Dick's is cheaper than both and it's all fresh, never frozen so not really any different.

I think it mostly stems to not being a real big burger person overall, mainly. I don't like the fries at 5 guys but I'm super picky and not much of a fry eater anyways

I see lots of Chase offers, in case some have them. I'm bad about checking them. Here's a couple:

• 15% back at Grubhub, $5 max
• 25% back at Five Guys, $7.50 max

I was hoping the Staples would be on my Freedom or DHs CSR soon to be Freedom... but no, his SW card I was hoping to stack the 10% off with the no fee VGC and use Chase pay via Samsung pay for 5x points. Le sigh.

Darn, I could use Five Guys and, of course, we didn’t get that offer.

Over Veterans Weekend? That’s a pretty popular quick getaway weekend so that could be tough last minute. Fwiw I loved Sapphire Falls but you’d have to buy ExpressPass separately...

This is why we upgraded to Premier from Preferred. The math was definitely in its favor given the amount of trips/nights we have been staying.

I hate Five Guys offers. The offers look so good —> I remember how expensive Five Guys is —> I think how In N Out is a better deal + better food —> I buy In N Out for lunch or dinner (when 2 mins earlier I had no intention of eating out...)

In n out has fresh cut fries too. It's fun to watch them do it. You can normally see them from counter and I've watched while waiting at the drive thru before. Looks like it'd be a good workout.

Did everyone see the AmEx Plat Uber change that is coming. I got an email from them. This makes so much more sense! Although it makes no sense why they are telling me about changed that happened in Sept on almost the last day of the month.

I'm on Team5Guys...do not do not do not understand the appeal of In N Out...the first time I went I was hugely disappointed, then I just learned to not expect anything great and it's...fine. Five Guys, though? YUM.

Ha, clearly I don’t remember that experience too well. It was a drive-through in Austin, TX. They have them in Phoenix near my ILs but my FIL always made BK runs. Gross! And double, triple gross French fries!

There is a disclaimer on the credit that the charge has to post in that month in order to get the credit. Occasionally it will take more than one day for the charge to post. If you did it today, I would say it's 70/30 that the credit would get applied for September rather than October. I'm going to be sad when I don't get my 2x at Gas Stations anymore starting next month.

I think people have successfully chatted with AmEx and have had the $10 credited. I, personally, would take the chance and then speak to AmEx if needed. The transaction should go pending with a Sept date that you could screen shot as proof.

I am not sure why you wouldn’t do RCCL. DS had a terrific time on the Allure of the Seas and he excited to spend his 13th birthday celebrating on the Harmony of the Seas. They are definitely family cruises and not party cruises. We had done Disney lines and have enjoyed them but RCCL has so awesome onboard activities that DCL doesn’t and the pools are not like a can of sardines in the family section unlike DCL. I think Carnival has been stepping up their game with some of the newer ships and trying to be more family friendly.

I agree. We have been on about 10 cruises or more. Started taking the kids when they were 6 and 8. They are now 18 and 20. Most cruises have been with Carnival and a few with RCCL. Have had a great time on all of them and never seen the ‘party’ atmosphere. And we go normally go during spring break. Lots of rumors over the years with Carnival being such a party ship. We have not seen that. Any cruiseline can have rowdy guests.

My wife has gotten 5 Chase biz cards (and 7 Chase overall) in the past 17 months. She currently has 4 of the biz cards open.

So I just tried impossible burger ground beef. My FIL works for a restaurant and made a traditional middle eastern type of hamburger (kefta) using it. It actually tasted just like ground beef. Kefta is normally ground a bit finer so the texture was more like a burger but I think as an actual burger or meatloaf you’d never notice the difference.

I have to admit I’d prefer to just use ground beef because well, chemicals. But I suppose it’s good to have a meat free option, I’m sure it has less of an environmental impact than ranching as well.

I have to say this is may be a step to far for me. I wouldn’t consider myself any kind of food connoisseur but I’m really picky about my hamburger. We have always raised our own beef and I actually pack hamburger from home when we go on vacation. Pretty much always timeshare stays and cook in the room.
