I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I hate Five Guys offers. The offers look so good —> I remember how expensive Five Guys is —> I think how In N Out is a better deal + better food —> I buy In N Out for lunch or dinner (when 2 mins earlier I had no intention of eating out...)
This is crazy talk! Five Guys is soooo much better than In N Out. But it is pricey!

Over Veterans Weekend? That’s a pretty popular quick getaway weekend so that could be tough last minute. Fwiw I loved Sapphire Falls but you’d have to buy ExpressPass separately...

Haha, yep! Sapphire Falls was available but I really wanted to get EP. So now I’ve changed tactics and told DH we should just pull her out for a day and go next weekend when availability is better. Surprisingly airfare is cheap both weekends.

CCF is not convenient at all. A few times I've had DD1 stop and grab a card on her way to work, but that takes planning. Otherwise, I just drive down there. I don't know if buying today is going to trigger this month's credit so I may miss this month.

I’m new to the Gold so I’m curious about your last statement there. Is the concern that it won’t track because it’s the last day of the month?

Hopefully this random pending $40 charge for the Springhill Suites in Ontario was more like an incidental hold and will fall off... :confused3 We used one of ILs free night certs for them Friday night before they came home, they were out with BIL again because they started a different treatment. I booked it so I just threw my card number in since there should be no charges...

probably just a hold- I never noticed those until we did a lot of travel on points this summer. But I just never had the app downloaded for my credit card so I could see the charges before either.

MSR Sunday
P1 ~700 left on Marriott biz
P2 Nothing right now

We have a bank bonus coming if all goes well at US Bank. Got the requirements done, just waiting for the bonus to post. I looked for my screenshots of this today just in case but I can’t find them. Just found the one I took of my initial $25 deposit. Must have accidentally deleted the others. :crazy2:

It’s been long enough between Chase apps to where both of us can go for a CIP now. I may do my app soon but will probably wait for P2.

I wish Grub Hub had Chik Fil A here. They just opened the first one last month and the line is still out the door and around the block.

I can say I'm firmly in the camp of never leaving home without my Amex Gold. I'll pay the fee, I get so many MR from restaurants and groceries that it's worth it to me without the credits.

I honestly can't believe I don't have this card yet. Most of my spend goes to restaurants and groceries! I had the CSR before but now without it I am definitely having FOMO.
I did two support tickets for my missing Dosh funds yesterday. I had alerts on my phone this morning that my money was credited and now pending. So I did end up getting my 5% from Sam's Club and Bucca di Beppo.

I just put a cruise on hold with Princess for Feb. 2021. I am waiting to see pricing for Disney before I commit but I can't believe the mouse will be cheaper and I think I'm leaning toward the Mexico itinerary on Princess anyway. We'll see - I'm anxious to see the pricing quotes over on the cruise board. This would be a surprise gift for DH.

Fun fact - apparently you can pay for a Princess cruise via PayPal... Chase Freedom category starting Tuesday!
Oh wow, that's great you can pay via Paypal! I'll have to keep that in mind.
We're doing a Greece cruise in October 21 on NCL. I booked just about the cheapest cabin possible for this one because it is over 700 days away and I figure I can watch prices and move up to a higher category when the fare drops, etc.

I kind of just decided to get heavily back into cruising I guess. We took two this year (DCL and RCCL) and will do another DCL in Feb. They end up being cheaper and less hassle.

On another note, I've been working through the "What Is Going On With Disney Parks Thread" over on the Disney Rumors board. Very illuminating. Worth a read - I've seen some of you over there already. Definitely check it out.
I was just telling my dad I would like to go on a cruise next year. I've only done a couple with girlfriends on Carnival. DH has never been and neither has my dad. I try to get him to go to Disney but he gets tired easily. I think cruising would be perfect! I'm doing a DCL cruise for the first time in April but I'd like to do maybe Princess or RCL with my dad.
We cut way back on this several months ago. It was embarrassing how much we spent eating out. It was so hard at first, but then I got in the routine of only going out once a week max and now I hardly miss it.
The hard part now is declining invites from friends to join them after hockey practice etc.
I really need to cut back. I spend so much money eating out, mainly out of not planning ahead. Although, groceries are so expensive and I spend so much that way too. Food is definitely the area I need to work on lowering spend on!

So I just tried impossible burger ground beef. My FIL works for a restaurant and made a traditional middle eastern type of hamburger (kefta) using it. It actually tasted just like ground beef. Kefta is normally ground a bit finer so the texture was more like a burger but I think as an actual burger or meatloaf you’d never notice the difference.

I have to admit I’d prefer to just use ground beef because well, chemicals. But I suppose it’s good to have a meat free option, I’m sure it has less of an environmental impact than ranching as well.

So I tweeted United Airlines when I noticed one of our award flights was listed as waitlisted instead of confirmed. Turns out it was just a 10 min schedule change on our connecting flight. They were able to help via twitter and confirmed the flight for me. Now they keep sending me messages asking me to rate their service but there’s no link to a survey. Finally gave up and replied “top notch” hoping they’d stop. Nope, they replied saying we’re so glad you think we’re top notch, now please rate us. Ok, but how 🤷‍♀️

Help me decide what to do!

I’m currently at 2/24. I’m sitting fully in Chase’s ecosystem (CSR, CFU, SW Personal and Plus, no-fee Disney + I have an old US Bank credit card).

I’m debating whether I should try to see if I’m pre-selected for an AmEx Platicorn, go for the US Bank Altitude, or stay in my comfortable Chase lane with a CIP.

I'm leaning between the AmEx and the CIP. I can’t decide. The benefits for the AmEx aren’t ones I really need or that I can justify the cost of the annual fee long-term. We don’t typically fly in/out of airports that the Centurion lounges are found in, and am I correct in understanding that only I would get free access to the Delta SkyClub - and only when I was flying Delta?

I was inclined to just jump on a CIP, but I’m hesitating as I feel that I should maybe diversify and expand into the MR realm...

I'm kind of meh about Five Guys but DH is super against them so I haven't been since college. I wish we had In N Out... I think there was supposed to be one coming to CO...

Usually I log into Twitter and go the DM where we were corresponding and click the smiley face thing they have to rate them.

MSR Sunday which is really a MS Sunday for me because I don’t have any MSRs right now but I’m busy.

P1
11k left on Hilton for free night.

p2
10k left on Amex Biz 50k point upgrade offer.

This week I am going to try and do as much as possible at office supply stores with the CIC. Not even close to maxing ours out.
What is the max, 25,000?

ETA: Love that you called it MS Sunday, lol!

The recent Delta vacations deal has really showed the benefit of diversifying your points if it makes sense for you.

You’re right on your assessment of sky club access with the Plat. That was super annoying for us as we always fly Delta out of a hub but could never make much use of the free lounge access for only 1 or 2 of us (we’re a party of 3).

If you can meet the MSR then I’d say go for both. No reason you can’t get a CIP (just make sure to spread your Chase apps out appropriately) and a personal Plat if you find the 100K offer. In fact I’ve done both within a few months and it was a great strategy for me. I put most of my organic spend towards the Amex MSR since they’re more sensitive to MS and used CIP to pay some bills on Plastiq and buy GCs when there were deals.

What's his issue with Five Guys? I like both, but in n out isn't cheap either. I enjoyed it last year in SF twice, but with Dick's so close and Pick Quick an option if we're going south, along with five guys being close, I don't miss it. I have enough good options and Dick's is cheaper than both and it's all fresh, never frozen so not really any different.
