Unbelievable crowds at MK yesterday 9/28! Wow!

Saw wait times of 110 minutes for Splash and 40 minutes for Small World! Every single ride had huge waits. It didn’t affect us as we know how to tour but it felt like Xmas crowds! It was unbelievable for September.
The 10 pm closing was a disaster. Mobs of people everywhere and they closed down the monorail promptly at 11 leaving thousands of people in line for the ferry. Can’t imagine what would happen if there was an emergency. People were just laying on the ground sleeping. A man in front of us collapsed on the ferry from the heat and crowds. He seemed ok after we helped him up. Got off Space at 10 pm and got to our car at 11:50!

I walked from the Poly to the TTC yesterday around 9 am, to go to Epcot, and it was a mass of humanity going to MK and about 15 of us going to Epcot. They had the monorail, ferry, and buses running to MK from the TTC at that time. We were very glad we did not plan on an MK day yesterday.

On nights like that, the future walkway from MK to TTC is going to be VERY popular! :)

(Until then,I would walk to Contemporary and spring for an Uber to TTC!)

Makes me so happy yesterday was a rest day and California Grill. In the magic kingdom now and it’s 70 minutes for HM 🤦‍♀️

Yes, I noticed that too. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why the crowds suddenly spiked? We're here now and staying until Sunday the 6th. MK was a breeze for us Friday as was HS yesterday. I'm hoping this is a Weekend/End-of-Illuminations/Long-Weekend-Holiday-I'm-Unaware-Of and the rest of our trip will return to predicted lower crowds. Any insight?

I'm thinking combo of Illuminations ending/Skyliner opening, plus I've heard that some areas have started fall breaks this week/weekend. Perhaps some reschedules from the hurricane earlier in the month. Some combination probably.

Saturday night during party season. That’s why I would rather go during holidays when there are zero parties.
That can be bad too, that's when we went last year and crowds were still really bad;a lot worse than predicted

We usually go during holiday weeks. It's perfectly manageable thanks to good weather, good planning and extended hours.
it was still manageable for us too (still did as much as usual) but crowds do make it tougher than expected if worse than predicted

Who was doing the predictions? I don’t use crowd calendars. I expect every day at WDW to be jam packed.

Hi New York public schools are closed for a 4 day long weekend for Rosh Hashanah , the kids are off till Wednesday 10/3. I know quite a few families that headed down there for the long weekend.

I was just going to post this. We have the largest public school system in the US as well. Half the parents in my office are out of town for this long weekend and I know at least three of them who took their families down to the World (I’m the crazy Disney lady at work and they all ask me for advice).

Combine that with non party Saturday night crowds and no wonder it was ugly. Last year we did the HEA dessert party on a non party Monday night and sat in the garden for an hour and a half afterwards just to let the crowds die down. I don’t think we got back to the Poly until well after midnight.

2 weeks ago had the monrail break and we sat in that hot, smelly, uncomfortable out-dated train! The CM packed us in like sardines ugh it was terrible, ended up getting off the the CR and Uber'd it back to the resort, NEVER again that junk AKA monorail!

Maybe Illuminations ending, maybe some rescheduling, maybe the Jewish holiday. But the Skyliner? People booked trips for that? I hope not.
