Aruba Late in Port

For our southern caribbean cruise we will be in port in Aruba until 11:45pm. We plan to go to Eagle beach in the morning and probably have lunch on the beach and then go back to the ship to rest (especially my 3 year old). I'm not sure what we should do in the evening though. Would it be better to stay on the ship (which I assume will be half empty) or should we go back out again? I've thought that it might be cool to go have a sunset dinner on the beach, but it seems like a pain to get another cab back to Eagle or Palm Beach. On the other hand it also seems like maybe a waste to not take the opportunity. Our kids will be 3 and 6 so it's not like we'll want to be out very late. I guess we could put them in the club and go out on our own. Or we could see the sunset from the ship and have dinner by a not busy pool.

Any thoughts?

Perhaps a sunset cruise? Disney might offer something like this.

Aruba has a big casino and when we had an overnight there that seemed to be the big draw. Since you have kids you could leave them on board at the clubs and go or just skip it altogether. Nights can get a little sketchy in Aruba based on the area.

I would say get back on the ship. We did a week in Aruba a few years ago and we were always back at our hotel by evening. I don't gamble so the casino's aren't a draw. My son keeps wanting to go back to Aruba but I think a day trip on a cruise is just fine.

I'm curious as to what you ended up doing. We are in the same situation for our cruise coming up in January. We have two kids (8 and 5).

IWell then I suppose we will see you there :)

We haven’t figured out our Aruba plans yet. Doesn’t look like DCL has any excursions that take advantage of the late port time.

Not for night time but....If you have kids, go to the Donkey Sanctuary. You can rent a car and drive there, seeing the rest of the island on the way. Or taxi it. Desiree runs it and does an amazing job rounding up all the island donkeys and giving them a home. We had a great visit there.

There are some nice restaurants on the island also.
