Get from your resort to another resort for a meal. (Yes, I am well versed in all methods) just curious what people do in real life

Feel free to add a comment on how great it worked or not.

Actual experience, not opinions wanted :flower1:

We used Minnie van a lot last trip. My husband really enjoyed talking to the drivers. We had one dud who wasn't much of a talker, but the rest were amazing. They were all from other places and they told their stories on how they got to be at Disney. Some did trivia and there was one gentleman who pointed out all kinds of things a long the way. He explained what it was and the story involved. We go back in November and my husband already said that funds are earmarked so we can get Minnie vans again. It was one of the highlights of his trip.

When we were in a small rush, arrival day and had to get to the CR from the AKL it was Uber all the way, faster then the Disney bus system as we did not have the spare time to wait for a Disney bus, but the rest of the week we used the buses.....

If I'm not pressed for time or if it's not an early breakfast I'll use Disney transportation but I personally prefer Uber/Lyft to go from resort to resort. I especially appreciated it last month so we weren't waiting for buses in the rain.

We drive to WDW - so we usually just drive wherever we want to go within WDW - unless it’s something we can boat or monorail to...like Wilderness lodge to Bay Lake or Bay Lake to Grand Floridian

It totally depends. We always have a car with us and sometimes we use it other times we take Disney transportation.

One time we took a Minnie Van to MK for an early morning reservation from the Treehouses. :)

Call us old fashioned, but we don't care much for car services. Traveling to the resort is part of the adventure and part of the dining experience. We typically leave our resort about 90-120 minutes prior to our ADR, which is usually overkill, but since the chances are we are going to a Signature meal if leaving from our resort whatever resort we are heading to is worth visiting. Plus most of the resorts we would be heading to are reachable by boat, which has a bit more panache than showing up in an Uber, adding to the experience as a whole.

I ride public transport at home regularly which may be one reason why I have no problems doing the same at WDW. Another is the fact that I'm not fond of paying twice for the same amenity since free transport is already factored into the price of a WDW hotel room. Now "free" is useless if it yields little benefit but for the most part I find the public transport at WDW pretty timely unlike a lot of smaller cities I've visited domestically.

Car rental. For about $200, we get the flexibility of doing whatever we want, whenever we want. Its a major time saver having a car. Now with the parking fees, it costs a bit more, but Im not at my breaking point yet.

Depends on the location. Sometimes we use Disney transportation (especially if time and weather are not a factors) Most of the time, we use Lyft/Uber.

We have stayed at the Pop the last 2 Summers and we like the AoA food court better so we walk across the bridge to the AoA. Other than that, we don't go resort to resort to dine.

We typically drive to Disney (have flown a few times but mostly drive). So we just drive over for an ADR. Unless it is easy to walk, staying at BWV and AdR at Yacht Club, or use transport that is not a bus....staying at BLT and monorail to Poly for dinner. Or we are at park close to resort, at AK and have dinner at Sanaa...then we bus. But mostly we drive our car over. Our 9 day trip coming up we have 4 ADRs at restaurants at other resorts and 1 we can walk to and other 3 we will drive to.

We used to always use Disney Transportation with the occasional taxi, but now that ride share cars are so much cheaper than taxis, we used them a ton last year. We spent $65 on Lyft rides last fall, but it saved us hours of time, so it was totally worth it.

We use Disney bus system with a little planning. For example the girls have fallen in love with Boma so next trip Boma will be a dinner on one of our Animal Kingdom days. Go there from park, eat, go back. And at Epcot was walk over to the hotels. We eat a ton at hotels surrounding Magic Kingdom. So its park, monorail, eat go back.

I'm cheap frugal. The transportation is available and included. Yes, it can be clunky and time-consuming, but (except that one time I had to go around the monorail twice to get to Narcoosee's) I normally plan plenty of time to get where I'm going.

This! As long as you plan, it's all good. DH sometimes gets a little testy on the bus if we hit traffic, but not often.

Now - we took the boat from MK to Narcoossee's and the boat dock at GF is right at the restaurant, so we just hopped off and went right in. All of these little tidbits are available right here on the Disboards transportation forum.
