Park Entertainment Cuts Have Been Confirmed

The Muppets - Great Moments in History are the kind of touches that (used to) set Disney apart and above other theme parks. Some of us planned time to watch it, some people were probably pleasantly surprised to be walking by and see the show start.

It was so charming, funny and just sweet that it's a real loss to see it go and and one less "Disney" thing about Disney.

It is a shame that some of my favorite live entertainment has been chiseled away through the years. The rock band at HS... several streetmosphere performers... the dude who played the electric harp at AK... the Sword in the Stone street show with Merlin at MK... etc. There have been some replacements in some but all cases, but most not been as good as the acts they replaced
That's a shame about the harp guy, he was great

We saw the Muppets show twice, very disappointed it`s being cancelled. Does Disney have any excuse for getting rid of this popular show (and no, random budget cuts is no excuse!)

As for the new Lightning McQueen show, we haven`t had a chance to see it, but I guess it`s a bust. Was it supposed to be temporary?

The muppets were really not very popular, i believe mostly because of the location in the sun
The lightning McQueen show is not canceled just the dancers outside of it

I'm going to disagree with the bolded. Over the past 10 years we have seen a steady decline in atmosphere entertainment, and while some things have been added it has been more the cuts than the additions
Just off the top of my head:
MK:
Giggle Gaggle Clowns
Spectromagic/ MSEP
Train Welcome show
Epcot:
Fife and Drum
Candy Lady in Japan
Ziti Sisters in Italy
Flag show in Italy
World Showcase Players Italy and UK
China Acrobats (still there but shows greatly reduced)
Off Kilter (replaced by several acts)
DHS:
Four for a Dollar (pre B&B show)
Hollywood Public Works troupe
reduction in Citizens of Hollywood sets and actors
Mulch Sweat and Shears
afternoon parade
AK:
Jammin Jungle Parade

I agree, and might I add that it`s still a disgrace that all of WDW has only one parade.

The location in the sun I can see being a deterrent but the show was a must see for us. My youngest loves the new muppet babies and was so happy to see Fozzie in real life. I hope they find an opportunity to make new shows in a shadier area...but I’m not holding my breath.

I enjoyed the show, but I think there are many reasons the Muppets show is being canceled.
When I watched the show, it didn't seem to attract much of an audience.
The nature of it starting while people were walking by was a bit confusing. Not the best guest experience.
It caused a bottleneck in guest traffic
Try as Disney has, the Muppets are just not as popular as other characters. It doesn't seem like the right fit.

Hopefully, they will use the money saved to come up with some new shows and entertainment and not just cut to save money.

It truly bothers me how they announce price increases one day and cuts the next. Almost $100 a person for a dessert party is beyond ridiculous.

This is the reality of our capitalist economy. Disney will continue to find ways to increase profits and decrease expenses if it wants to continue as a public company. Best get accustomed to it.

LOVED Great Moments in History! Disney acquired the Muppets and has barely developed them at all. The show in HS is not worth my time and is in desperate need of an update. Other than the Great Moments in History, the parks have nothing. Even the gift shop in HS has barely any muppet merchandise. So sad to see this innocent and unique entertainment go.

I actually have the Muppets GMiH show on our list of things to see during our trip this week. I'm glad we'll get to experience it at least once before it's gone. It's a shame they're cutting the RMM too, but I can see why. They don't tie in to any of the Disney IP's and no one seemed to know who they were. They were very sweet and interacted with all the kids. It was so lovely. Now if they drop the Hoedown, I will start a riot! Who's with me? :P
