Ooooh I did like the paypal couch MS last year - sending "my wife" money :D. But that was when I had 4 Freedoms, muahahaha!! Now I sadly only have 2 Freedoms. Due to some PCs I'm currently sporting the following card setup:
 • Wife = CSP, CF, CSR, CFU
 • Me = CSR, CF
 • (this of course doesn't include our Chase Biz cards)
I'll still have to look into it though even on the 2 Freedoms!

Did you absorb the 3% fee for sending money?

Yeah - but then I transferred that to our bank account ASAP. We aren't about to have a $1,500 eBay shopping spree on our hands 😂 😂 😂 😂

Also - this is more lucrative if you can use the URs at a 1.5cpp value. At 1cpp it's not really as great - but still probably worth the effort.
I mean, what effort? :rotfl:

If I finish off our cards this way, we'll profit ~$57 in Discover cashback... :D

I just recently got this card. $500 SUB when you spend $4500 in 150 days. I have had bank accounts with them but they were all closed, only open for bank bonuses. Had to wait to see if I was approved and then I was approved with a $500 credit limit.... I called them and they said they would have to do another hard pull and within a few days my credit limit increased to $10,000. So, I just finished the spend on that card as I was able to put my Mortgage on their thru Plastiq.

Thanks -- I am leaning toward applying and seeing what happens. I know hard pulls are really not a big deal but it would still irk me to get denied.

Does anyone know of any other non-Chase/non-AmEx business cards that have a decent SUB? I have the Wells Fargo card (that I need to cancel; it seems that you can get the bonus for that again if you haven't had the card within 12 months). I'm also looking at a Bank of America card but the SUBs are not as good as the US Bank card.

Today my friends...is a GOOD day!

FIRST - It's Friday!
SECOND - It's a High School Football Friday!

Oh and yeah...a little thing happened overnight on my CIP:

And then I did a little transferring... and THIS happened:

I am once again a UR Millionaire!!! :D I thought it wouldn't be as special the 2nd time (after I spent a bunch of points and dipped under)...but NOPE I'm just as excited the 2nd time!! One of these days I'll cash out a ton of them if I can't find a better use, but a quick $10k wouldn't be bad either in a pinch!
Congrats! I feel so high tone, hanging out with millionaires...

So my family is coming to visit us this Christmas, but my SIL will be 7 months pregnant. Just in case something happens and she can't travel, I just booked all 4 of us flights on Southwest to visit them for a couple days over Christmas. As long as everything goes smoothly with the pregnancy, we'll cancel our flights and they will still fly to our house. It is awesome to have a backup option that I can cancel without penalty to make sure we're together for the holidays. I love Southwest and this thread for making this possible!

DH got the Plastiq 72,000 promo yesterday, but nothing for me so far. I haven't gotten a promo offer from them since I scheduled a bunch of payments on the day of the 1.5% glitch. Not sure it's because I used the glitch, or if it's because I've been using Plastiq so regularly. Looks like our contractor will get a $2k payment from DH's account, though.

My plan was to do Discovery Cove/Sea World next February on a school break, but for the past few months Discovery Cove is not showing up on the UR Portal past 12/31. So we will probably just change that trip to Universal. Well yesterday I was able to book SW for 12/26-12/31 for cheap. I'm not sure I'll even keep it, but my question is how busy is SeaWorld during that time? I think DC would be ok because I think they do limit to amount of tickets they sell. We really enjoyed our trip to SeaWorld, but a huge part of that was being able to ride all the rides with less than a 10 minute wait. This was in March and we found the crowds at our one day at Disney and even traffic and the outlets way too busy for our liking. But SeaWorld was great. Has anyone been to SeaWorld during Christmas break?
I didn't see anyone answer this, you might try asking on the Seaworld forum. There are some knowledgeable people on there who may be able to help.

@calypso726 (or anyone else) any hotel recommendations for Edinburgh or St. Andrews? Will need 2 rooms for 2 families of 3 (both have DD’s that will be 9).

Have you done the Edinburg underground tours? DH and I did many years ago before DD came along and it was so cool. Hoping to find another as DD loves all things creepy. It was so cool to go down to the original city ground level and explore the remnants of living quarters (mostly one room, definitely not upper class dwellings). They have haunted versions too.

We’ve done a few of those tours and my favorite was the Real Mary’s King’s Close.

Oh boy family rooms are never on my radar since it’s just DH and I. When we are with my mom she usually gets her own room. I’ve stayed at both Radisson Properties on the mile and like them. I’ve stayed at the Sheraton Grand and it was wonderful!

@calypso726 I have been conversing with the WA via e-mail regarding pre-paying some of the yacht transfers for our stay next April ($600.00 pp plus tax). They sent me a link to do a funds transfer. I then asked for a cc form to complete (I have used these many when I pay for ds's hotel stays). They responded that they don't do this and sent me a link for a bank transfer. I re-iterated that I need to pay by cc, but they stated that due to fraud prevention they need to have the physical card to put any charges on it. Not sure what I'm going to do at this point. I really wanted to use this years Aspire $250.00 resort credit towards our stay next spring. I'm awaiting their response to my last e-mail. Any suggestions? I did tell them that it will be the same card that I will have with me when we arrive in April.

I would write a letter asking why their sister property, the Conrad Rangali is able to do this with no problem and they aren’t able to provide the same level of ease and convenience for their guests. Explain you’d expected the same if not better level of service from a newer resort. Also tell them that your readers/followers will be most disappointed that WA is no where near as convenient or accommodating as the Conrad. You were hoping to write up a glowing review as it looks so wonderful online but this is a most disconcerting start.

That is so redneck, but 80k points a night per room is soooo steep.

But you are living in Tennessee .... I can only say that because I was born and raised in TN! No way would I want to pay 80K each for 2 rooms. Back in the early 80's we flew to California for a wedding with my grandparents. They thought we were going to show up looking like the Clampetts from Beverly Hillbillies. My grandfather said he would have been more than happy to have dressed like that if he had only known! Hope you have a great trip!!

When I asked about Edinburgh hotels, the Radisson Blu came up a lot, so I booked it for our trip next May. Never been there before though, so not a first hand recommendation. I used URs for ours but I know the Radisson CC comes highly recommended also.

roundabout Serve question. I have used Visa at Office Supply Stores for Serve. Now I need to meet a MS on a Hilton American Express. It seems I remember something about not to buy gift cards at Office Supply Stores with an AE, is that true or was it just the voices in my head. Thanks.

The voices in your head are correct. :rotfl2:

What is the best way to earn towards AirBnB stays? Cashing in points, cash back cards, gift cards?

If you use discounted gift cards, make sure to load them before you make the reservation and use them on the deposit or pay up front. You can’t use them to pay for the remaining balance. At least that was my experience. I also know that Arrival+ points can be used to erase Air Bnb charges. Not sure about other travel eraser cards.

We got the Plastiq 72,000 offer on both our accounts. I haven’t taken time to figure out what it means. Is it basically buy one get one free for one payment $2k or over? The international thing wouldn’t be useful for me, and I don’t know what Forex is.

Yep, it works out to 1.25% fee for $4K of spend (if you spend exactly $2K on the first payment). I think Forex is another international payment option.

Forex stands for Foreign Exchange. I assume it would involve Plastiq sending your payment in another country's currency. There's a cost associated with doing this so I assume Plastiq is making a larger margin on those type of payments (hence why they are incetivizing them).

If anyone has hotel recommendations in Barcelona or Edinburgh please let me know!!

I haven't actually stayed there, since so far we have stayed at the Radisson Blu Edinburgh Royal Mile, but there is a Hilton right across the street from the Radisson Blu on the Royal Mile that you might look at if you are wanting to use a Hilton cert or points. My DD submitted her U.K. university application last night (!), and if she ends up in Edinburgh, I am going to give that Hilton a serious look since I have the Aspire and have become a bit of a Hilton loyalist. I want to compare it to the Radisson Blu. One selling point for the Radisson Blu for us so far has been that they have family rooms that can sleep all 4 of us comfortably. But it is unlikely that all 4 of us will always be taking DD to and from school, etc., so the Hilton might become a viable option.

Just got out of Downton Abbey and I LOVED IT!! Very cute story and very true to the series. Everyone in it had their own cute little plot point and several laugh out loud moments throughout. Definitely recommend for fans of the series!

Also, I’m not sure if they just did it for this special showing or not, but they did a nice series recap before the movie.

So glad to hear a positive review! Can't wait to see it.

I have the tracker on my cip and it's not reflecting the refunds so it looks like I have less spend less than I do.

It also says I have until Oct 12 to do it when I have an SM saying the offer is there and I have until Nov 3. I got the card July 12. My first payment wasn't due until last week. I'll probably have the spend met by the 12th but it's interesting the differences between what it used to be and the new 90.

Just checked the tracker on my DH's newly approved CIP, and it shows Dec. 13 as the deadline for meeting the spend, so that is consistent. I did SM to have the card expedited and to confirm the bonus. I'll be curious to see what date they come back with and if it is different from the tracker. I will definitely use the earlier date to be safe.

The open jaw is fine booking with ANA using VS.

Where I am seeing mixed DPs is when there is a connection like KIX-HND-LAX. Some reports show DPs with additional miles required and some weren't. I figure, when the time comes @ten6mom can call in with the info and if they want to charge significantly more for the connection then just book the open jaw and book the connection separately. Tix from KIX-TYO can be found for under $100. I booked a separate flight from for our ABD later this month with 5,000 UA miles on ANA since we are doing 2 nights in Tokyo before heading to Osaka for the ABD.

I also recently booked flights from KIX to HND on ANA using 5k United miles each. That was to position us for our JAL flights from NAR to LAX the next day
