Will be in club level executive suite next week (09/12-) for a convention planning meeting. Also have one of the two Presidential Suites during our convention in December. I enjoy the fact that, in the Chronos club, you can get a beer starting at 7am and a glass of wine after 11am, although beer thirty is normally a little later than that. ha! Also, the scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast was good too.....although the "plant based" meatballs were interesting..:-)

Besides what others have said about the Thermostat Lights, the only thing I found odd was there was no table in the room. A long counter and an extra chair, but no where to sit and eat. Our little one doesn't like the restaurants and always asked to eat in our room, so we would get the meals to go and end up eating on the bed as there was no table...minor I know, but still kinda odd :)

Agree on both counts - thermostat light and lack of table. I get that it's a convention hotel and they want to offer a work space, I guess, but a table would make it feel (IMO) a lot more "resort-like" and a lot less "motel-like". We also like to eat in our room and with only one chair, that had me sitting on the bed using the nightstand as a table.

I understand there are K-cup machines but do they have disposable travel cups available & how many? There are 3 of us in the room and we will be rope dropping EMH's and want to have our grab and go breakfasts ready. Not sure if I should pack some or not.

Yes, there are disposable cups and lids. Our room had it least 4.

Going from CSR to Epcot - I know there's a bus.

Anyone ever take bus to DHS and then walk or boat over from there and enter at International Gateway? I'm thinking maybe one of the nights we have a dinner planned at Epcot that might be a nice way to get there. I love using the IG entrance, one of the reasons we usually stay at Yacht/Beach.

Walked (it's very long), used the boat, Skyliners will be operating after 9/29 I believe. All options to you.

We love YC/BC/BWI, but I do have my fears about the effect the Skyliner on the International Gateway. They are already expanding that area, and it has a less shade than it used to. That coupled with a constant influx of people, well, I'm not really sure it's going to continue to have that relaxed, cozy feel it used to have.

Ooops, I guess that URL is not allowed. Well, it's just pics of what IG looks now (expanding).

Last time we were there it was only a $6 taxi ride from CSR to Boardwalk and than we walked from there.

Doing the reverse to get home after the fireworks is really quick after a long day.

Now that Gran Destino is open, I am wondering how that is impacting the resort as a whole. Does it seem more crowded? How are the buses running? Are they running more buses? Are the quiet pools still quiet? Are there plenty of tables in El Mercado? Thanks. And, sorry if this has already been discussed. It was kind of a hard topic to search for in the thread.

We did it from Pop one morning last trip because the line for an Epcot bus was ridiculous, but we could get on the next DHS bus. It was a nice walk in December, not as nice if it's super hot.

Before our CL stay earlier this month, DH wouldn’t even try “plant-based” foods. He tried the meatballs and that changed everything! He LOVED them and admitted if not for the sign, he never would have known they were plant-based! (He ate more than his fair share!!) :rotfl:
.....OMG, when were you there???? My DH and youngest DS surprised me for my birthday [which was actually YESTERDAY] with a trip to WDW the beginning of August!

Happy belated birthday, Kimmar! What a nice surprise that must have been!

We were in WDW 8/4-13; the GDT part of our trip was 8/6-11. Even though we were CL, we spent a good amount of time at the Barcelona Lounge!!

The fitness centre is in the tower, correct?
If anyone is going there soon and happens to be in the fitness centre, could you check and see if there is a foam roller? I'm thinking that I'll need to pack mine otherwise, lol!

Just stayed another 4 nights in the tower this past weekend with my wife and son. Consider this an add on to my original post #10,336 on page 517.

4 nights in a Water View room. Room 916.

Arrival

We had a late arrival on Friday evening around 9:45p or so via DME. There was only one person ahead of me in line at the front desk and waited no more than 3 minutes before talking to a cast member. On this trip I did NOT do the online check-in due to the fact I had a room request for the highest floor possible. A while ago a couple of CMs told me that there could be issues if I make a room request over the phone and then do online check-in, so I never have checked in online since. Something to note that was different about this trip was that my credit card was NOT charged the remaining room balance until I checked in. Usually I get the charge earlier in the day, but this time it did not happen until I checked in. No issues while checking in, and we received a 9th floor room, which was fine with us.

After checking out the room, we stopped by the Bell Services desk in the lobby and asked if they could hold our 2 pieces of luggage that we had sent with the yellow DME tags on them. They were able to look up our information and told us that it had just left the airport about 3 minutes earlier. I thought that was pretty cool that they could look that up. They had no problems holding them for us. In fact, they brought it up to the room around 9am the next morning without us calling down for it which was nice.

Room

On this visit, our room was 916. It was a water view room and was on the southern wing of the resort. We did notice that this room was slightly smaller in size than the one we had on our last trip. Last trip, we stayed in a corner room (803) on the very southern end of the building. It overlooked the old El Centro, but had slightly more room.

While you couldn't see Cinderella's Castle at the MK, you could get a good idea of where the MK was by seeing the Contemporary and the cranes for TRON. We were able to see the MK fireworks from our room without any obstruction.

I know that someone asked a while back about how large the windows are. I would say the windows are nearly 6 feet tall and roughly 5 feet wide. The window is a true 6 feet tall, but is raised off the ground by close to 1 foot or so. The window coverings are very adequate and black out the room nicely.

This time, the TV did show our photopass pictures. It was cool to see them all on the larger screen vs a small phone screen. All of the magic shots and animation clips played as well. This didn't work on our last trip.

My wife and son did make a comment about the light that blinked on the fire alarm. I saw a couple posts about that in the past, but it didn't really bother them too much.

One odd thing we experienced was that when we got back to the room after the MNSSHP on Sunday, I opened the door and there were two pieces of luggage setting there on the floor. It looked like it was dropped off at our room by accident as they had the DME yellow tags on them. I tried to contact Bell Services and the Front Desk, but was on hold for 15 minutes so I decided to walk them down myself. I took them to the Front Desk and as I walked up, I made the comment that their phones must be broke because I was on hold for them for a while and no one picked up. They said "that sounds about right". I know that it is a central answering service that all calls on property get routed to, but really thought they would have taken a second to explain that. For someone who didn't know the process, the remark would have sounded a little lazy and smart.

Dining

We hit 3 Bridges on the night we arrived for some appetizers. We got the shrimp corn dogs and an order of street corn cheese dip. I don't believe that the street corn cheese dip is printed on the menu yet, but you can ask for it. Both were fantastic again. My son wanted to try the churros, so we put in for an order of those. I didn't care for the churros last time, but thought they were a lot better this time. It came with a chocolate dipping sauce that I didn't care for. We did get an AP discount of 10% on the food, just not alcohol.

On our last night we decided to go to Maya Grill. We all loved our meals. I got the Alambre de Res which was fantastic. My wife got the Tacos de Camarones and a side of the poblano potatoes au gratin. She loved both items, but raved about the potatoes. I tried them and wasn't a fan, but in fairness I am not a fan of au gratin potatoes to begin with. They also offered an AP discount of 10% as well.

I also had to hit the Barcelona lounge before bed to get the Spanish margarita. Just as delicious as I remembered it.

Departure

We left via DME this time. The airline check-in is pretty nice. It is indoors, but you have to access it from outdoors and cannot get there from the main lobby. It is located to the right of the main entrance of the tower. Our DME was an early pickup (5:45a) and we were the only guests at the check-in. Nothing really different about the airline check-in process, just that it was indoors with AC and not outside.

One thing we noticed this trip were the many different hidden mickeys there are in the tower. Probably the most I have seen at any resort.

...yes it is....in a rather inconspicuous place though. Take the elevator to LL. Walk towards the doors to go outside. The fitness center is to the left.
