Did this get mentioned yet this morning:

Marriott Rolls Out High/Low Season Award Pricing Next Month Along With Other Changes

...Peak and Off-Peak Pricing Go Into Effect September 14...

Another nugget in here:

New Limits on Points Advance Bookings
  • Points advance locks in the room not the rate. Effective September 14 pricing that will apply to points advance bookings will be the current price at the time the member actually redeems points to cover the reservation.
  • Maximum of 3 Points Advance bookings at a time Marriott will be updating their terms to limit members to three points advance bookings at a time. Expect to hear from Marriott if you make a bunch of points advance reservations.
While these changes are unfortunate - I think the changes are a result of people absolutely abusing the points advance to death. I don't blame Marriott, unfortunately I blame the public and bloggers who taught people to abuse the system.

I also saw on DoC that Points Advance bookings are subject to change in rates (which Marriott's algorithm will assign on a monthly basis), so you won't be able to depend on that PA booking to hold your rate.

Mid Dec is actually one of the most popular dvc times. What resort? I have my account open right now.
Any Epcot or MK area preferably. Studio if avail, 1 bed if not. Ak is ok too. CCV ok too.

Looking to arrive 13th or later. 5-7 ish nights.

I think that's what the first bullet point in my comment was saying.

I rarely use reddit - only have an account to occasionally visit dischurners there. I just went over there and - "Uh oh! We have suspended your account due to suspicious activity. Not to worry. You can continue using Reddit by resetting your password." In order to do that I need to have them email me and they have my old email that I no longer have access to. I guess I forgot to switch that one over when I switched email provider last year. I emailed reddit and hopefully will be able to get into my account. If not, I may deactivate and get a new one....

I have not heard back yet. I will wait a bit longer. But I think I may deactivate and start a new account soon. @SouthFayetteFan - if I do this I would need to be added back into the group.

It is even extremely difficult for our technicians since the programs are so intertwined so there is an expectation that they not only know our programs but also the Medicare program. I am so glad not to work in the field or call center, interpreting the policy and using our antiquated systems is really a challenging task.

So it was not just me then as a consumer? Nothing made me feel stupider (is that a word?) then trying to figure out Medicare. I came to the conclusion that our retirement specialists really didn't understand the program and barely understood our program. I now know that our program combined with Medicare a and b is an excellent benefit.

Shared this on the SW thread...but I'm not sure the folks there are in the laughing mood right now - so I'll share here too, LOL!

Ok... now I'm getting loopy. I've started talking to the screen while it refreshes...
"Give Daddy what he wants...c'mon..."

Hopefully my wife doesn't come down, she might get worried about my relationship with Southwest...
"It's Jake from Southwest"
"She sounds hideous..."

😂 😂 😂 😂

Nope. And this proposed change will make it even more complex for the limited population that would use it. And then it is only for a tax haven.

I found a standard studio at Kidani dec 14-18, 61 points. I'm now going to switch to 1 bedrooms and see if there's anything other than random nights here and there which is what the studios are.

I just joined a FB group that is new. It is for finding others that are there and want to split a VIP tour. You might join that for the future option.

No way would my SO do this. He was hesitant when I was considering doing it with people on this thread, but he said fine after I kept insisting everyone here is a friend lol.

Priceline Express Deal. Sorry, I think usually most people write PLE deal.

How is DVC availability in mid December usually? We will all go on that trip, whereas my fall trips we will be splitting to accommodate schedules. I wonder if I should do a nice hotel in Dec and cheap ones for fall to help with costs.

You always find such good deals. I looked at your dates just see to how the Priceline thing works, but whenever I put in my dates I get offsite hotels. One time I saw AKL for $160 for a Saturday night and I was like ehh ill keep looking for other weekends and it was gone when I went back to book. If you see any availability for weekend dates anytime during food and wine, can you let me know? I'll take anything lol

I still don't have access to my online DVC account. Yay resale. would you mind looking to see how the availability is in January? I should have access in a few more weeks. I have 178 points to play around with for 2020, but I may rent them out.
