*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

We just got back from 8 days at WDW! This week was a lot cooler than previous Augusts due to all the rain! But the end of the week was HOT HOT HOT as usual. We had such a magical time!

Us too. We were actually hoping for rain the last days so it would cool down a bit...LOL. We had a blast! We did the Villains party and it was great! Our first stay at the Boardwalk. We were impressed. Housekeeping was impeccable and being able to walk to two parks was an added perk. There was also lots to do at night and the area was very lively.

T-minus 39 hours until lift off!!! :cheer2: Leaving on a 6:10 am flight on Tuesday morning. Doing all the laundry today and packing everything except the toiletries and other items we will need up until we leave. It's starting to feel real!!! :D Last night I got all our itineraries finalized, Magical Express papers/hard tickets/etc. assembled, magic band decals applied, and our resort room window decorations are ready to go! (Anyone else decorate your resort room windows??) We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside this time for the first time, so we decided to do Princess and the Frog theme + some bday decorations for my birthday!

We are set to land in Orlando around noon, so I'm hoping we can catch a quick Magical Express bus to POR and eat a QS lunch there at the Riverside Mill food court. We had FP+ scheduled at DHS that evening, but we canceled them because we want to take it slower on this trip and didn't want to be rushing to a park on our first day. (My husband is also in a walking boot right now with a fractured foot, so I'll be pushing him in a wheelchair for most of our trip, so that will also slow us down big time!!)
We decided since it's our first time staying at this resort, we want to make it a resort day and fully enjoy it! It's our first time staying anywhere other than the Values, so we are excited for the extra little amenities and better pools! Hubby is treating me to the Royal Room for my bday. It looks like a beautiful resort, and we just can't wait! Will probably go for an afternoon swim, maybe take the boat to Disney Springs for a bit, then planning to head over to POFQ to eat QS dinner there and maybe take another swim in their pool! We're usually QUITE the overplanners, down to what order we will ride which attractions and at what time, so for us to just have a loose schedule feels so weird, but I like it! lol I honestly think we will end up enjoying it even more, since we will be taking more time to just soak up the magic! :smickey:

Man, I bought one of those Tervis Tumblers and they just ridiculously amazing! I fill it up with ice at the beginning of the day, walk around in the Florida heat for 12+ hours and the ice is still there at the end of the day! Even after refilling it with water multiple times! Speaking of water refills, if you're like me and hate using the water fountains, any restaurant or hotel with a soda machine will dispense water. There is also a water bottle refill station right outside DHS. I know there are more but I cant remember where they are. I also (dont laugh!) pour the water that they give you at meals into my tumbler! I know it's likely just Florida tap water, but as long as I dont see it come out of the tap, I'm happy!

Is it okay to pop in here at the last second? 😳 My family and I are headed to the Campgrounds at Fort Wilderness tomorrow! I'm so thrilled i'm about to burst!

We have 3 day tickets with park hoppers, and while that's a touch short it will be such a joy to have those moments! We haven't been to WDW since our teens now 18 and 13 were little ones of 10 and 5!

Happy Disney Dreaming Everyone! :tink:

Not sure if anyone here is following the Halloween thread but I posted about the Hocus Pocus bag being sold out online... LINK

I just got back from the Disney Store and they have it in stock. There were only two at my store but you might have better luck at your location. :drive:
OH! I bought one so there is only one left! :stir: And no compact mirror which is also sold out online. :(

You might want to consider an ECV/scooter as they have hand controls and your husband could drive himself instead of you pushing a wheelchair.

I know nothing about these. Do you have to rent them, as in pay? Just curious :cat:

Yes you do have to rent them. Each park has wheel chairs and ECVs available for rent wheelchairs are around $12 per day and ECVs are $50 plus they ask for an additional $20 deposit which they return to you when you turn in the ECV. Many people actually rent ECVs from outside vendors who will bring the wheel chair or ECV right to your resort. We recently used “Gold Mobility” and paid a total including tax of around $180-190 for an entire week. they met us at resort at 7:00 am and picked up the ECV at our resort just prior to us leaving on Magical Express.
Disney will rent a wheel chair by the day or for a week but the ECVs are daily rentals only. If you rent an ECV at one park and then leave and go to another park you can just show your receipt and they will give you another ECV you don’t have to pay multiple times in one day.
However they do sometimes run out of ECVs on a busy day but will text you when one becomes available. Renting an ECV from an offsite vendor guarantees that you have one, prevents you from standing in line multiple times to rent each day, and you can uses to do back and forth from bus.

Wow! I never knew. Thanks for explaining it all to me, I most certainly have been schooled! :teacher: Now if someone asks, I can share what I've learned! Oh, I'm definitely saving this post!

Oh, let me just say for those that are returning, if you need anything from MNSSHP excluding popcorn buckets there's just no room sorry, please feel free to PM me. And no, I will not be throwing in additional fees. That's just crazy! :grouphug:

Have a wonderful time! Love Fort Wilderness.🏕🐎

Tomorrow we leave. We won't get in until probably like midnight so no RD on Tuesday. I'm trying not to push DH too far. The grandparents took my boys overnight tonight so DH and I could relax. I half relaxed and half packed/cleaned. Tomorrow morning full steam ahead cleaning and then drop off the dog and pick up the kids. Then off to DISNEY! pixiedust::earboy2:
