*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

T-5. Ughhhhh. Almost done packing. A few more things for the carryon. Just spent the better part of an hour looking for the underwater camera pouches I bought months ago. Last time bought them at Discovery Cove for about $30 each. Got them ago, for this trip, on Amazon for $5. Was dreading buying the DC ones again but my 50 minutes of looking saved me $90! But cost me valuable sleep 😴

I forget what thread someone was asking, but in case it was here.....

RE: The coupons for mini golf and discounts at Disney Springs etc...that were normally mailed to you

I was putting our magic band in my carryon and was just about to throw the box away when something fell out of the side of the box. It was luggage tags and the mini golf vouchers, a "savings card" to present at various locations for discounts on merchandise and coffee etc...

So if you were wondering where your mailing is...check the side of your MB box!!

I just bought some waterproof phone pouches on Amazon! We are going to H2O Glow Nights and I wanted to be able to carry my phone around for pictures. So excited!! 😁

We leave one week from today!!! Got the earliest flight possible (5:30AM!) should arrive at Port Orleans Riverside by 1 something. We splurged and got a Royal Room and I’m SO excited! First time at POR, first time doing MNSSHP and Typhoon Lagoon for Glow Nights, and we snagged a reservation for a SWGE preview, AND we’ll be there ON my birthday and we are eating at Jiko and I am just beyond excited!!!! 😄😄😄 we are planning lots of things we’ve never done on this trip. Can’t wait!!!!

One thing I can say I don’t like during this trip - photo boxes at character meets ! In our group the 4 kids each did individual pictures after the group but because we were switching out it only captures the last girl on our account - so now have to contact or go to the photo stop at one of the parks to have the rest added on. Not very personable at all at the meets either. Although it did capture my DD getting a selfie from Kylo Ren...
Was Kylo Ren the only one with the photo box?

I am waiting to board my plane, continually grateful for Pre. The general security line at JFK looked like Flight of Passage at rope drop. I sailed through the Pre line and am enjoying coffee at my gate, 2 minutes later. I can already taste those beignets!!!

So many people are on their way. Safe travels to all of you.

3 weeks from now i’ll be packing to leave the next day. 4 weeks from today we’ll be sleeping in, then heading to the pool, & ending our day in HS. We have a Hollywood & Vine fantastic ADR, Fastpass for SDD, Star Tours, Tower of Terror & Rock N Rollercoaster.

5 days left... wondering what is the craziest thing other people drag with them? I pack my espresso machine. Yes it takes up space and pounds in my suitcase but waiting in line at Starbucks takes precious time away from Disney fun!

My husband (who enjoys our Disney trips but isn't as big a fan as I am) has started calling pre check his "Fast Pass".

We leave Sunday! I’m really interested in what the crowds will be like Aug 12-14 :scared: this is my first time in August but I’ve been in September and by the looks of what everyone is saying the weather won’t be too different either! I’m trying to figure out something special for my boyfriend and I to do during the trip that’s not too expensive, we are both 21 so I’m open to the idea of cool bars. Staying at the swan if that helps :) safe traveling everyone!

In NO way is packing your espresso machine craziness!! Doesn’t everyone?! Lol 😉 I bring my own coffee supplies on most trips too, but not a machine. It’s too big or I would! Haha
This time I’m just bringing some store-bought cold brew and my own reusable cup. I agree... the Starbucks lines are crazy and I’m not a huge fan of Joffrey’s or the resort coffee. Bringing my own saves time and that’s more money for other Mickey treats! 😉
Last year I packed a cooler lunchbox with strawberries and blueberries in it in my carry on backpack. I love my fruit, and it costs an arm and a leg for one banana at the World!

Since everyone is going to Disney soon, the parks should be empty by the time the "end of the month" people, like us, get there. ;)

Wouldn't that be nice!

Three weeks from today will be my last day in the office before I retire. :cheer2:

You are so close!!!

Coffee is important so I can understand that. I don't love the resort coffee but I can deal with it while I'm there and I try to hit up a Joffrey's or Starbucks when the lines aren't too bad depending on how bad i need my fix.

Hmmm I don't think I bring anything crazy. I'm pretty low maintenance as far as products, makeup and clothing go. My husband would say I was crazy for packing any princess dresses so I would usually only bring one or 2 except for the cruise. I brought one for each night. This trip I don't think I'll be bringing any princess dresses. She does have a couple of custom tanks and a Jack Skellington dress for MNSSHP.

Oh that reminds me I want to check the tracking on my last Etsy order that still hasn't come yet.

I finally get to do a "one week from today" post. One week from today I will be plodding through my last few hours of work and praying for my daughter's teachers. Her mind will likely be everywhere but on her school work. :lmao:

Her school changed their calendar after we planned our trip so she starts school this Thursday instead of on the 26th when her brother does (and the rest of the county). Our flight isn't until 6:30 in the evening so I'm working until 3. Her school day is from 7:25 to 2:18 so she's going. Thankfully it is very close to the beginning. I'm hoping that means she won't have too much work to make up. Plus they are on a semester system so it's just 4 classes. We went to open house last night and were able to inform 3 of her 4 teachers. Since the calendar was changed so recently, there are a lot of families that will be missing days and they are required to work with those families on make up work.

She gets home around 2:40 on the bus; so once I log off at 3; we'll be heading to my mom's house to pick her up and head for the airport. We are really fortunate in that our airport is only 30 minutes away. The plan is for all packing to be done by the Sunday before; but I definitely have to have everything together before that day as my daughter won't be around to do anything for me while I work.

Today I had to place another order to replace an item that never arrived. I got us a water proof camera. Last year I found that sometimes my phone acts up in those pouches. I think it may have gotten too hot. Also I figured it might be fun for the kids to take some pool pictures as well. I ordered a handle to go with it; but it never came. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime.

We'll pick up some last minute toiletries and stuff this evening while we are out shopping for my daughter's school supplies. I'm done with the clothing portion of school shopping. We're waiting on shipments from Pottery Barn Kids (my son's backpack and lunch box) and Aeropostale (clothes for my daughter) both of which should arrive before we leave.

Next year, vacation will have to be in June or July. Safe travels to everyone leaving in the next day or 3.
